    Birria tacos!
    Amanda J.

The service here is great! Everyone is very friendly. We were in a bit of a rush and they allowed me to pay in advance on their portable POS. Tacombi's are all casual dining, but the Miami Design District has slightly better seating and a great layout for photos. The birria taco will always be the best. I think two is more than enough food. I'd recommend one and a regular taco since they are far more filling. I'm There's more than enough dipping sauce for one. I thought the Al pastor was a little dry, but nothing some guac couldn't fix. The chicken tinga had chopped carrots and a dressing slightly similar to ranch. It's an experiment in flavors. I'd rename it the coleslaw taco to be closer to what to expect.

This is my second time visiting this location & both times I've enjoyed the food. There are a few places in the Design District that you can order a few items along w/a drink & dessert for $26 (tax & tip included) when split amongst a party of three. Service was very attentive & patient with our group as we tried to make a selection of what to eat. Location is close by a public parking & many street parking options. So it is easily accessible. Looking forward to returning again when in the area.

Food + service + quality + ambiance + value for food + margs = all good. I was visiting Miami from Dallas Texas, and the birria tacos here were good. I will say, I recently had better birria tacos last weekend here in Dallas, but these were still good

The ambiance and service was great this restaurant has a limited menu and that was fine until everything they offered was spicy. I was disappointed in that even the guacamole. I had a shrimp burrito which was good however the sour cream was even spicy. So if you aren't into spicy do not come here. The chicken quesadilla was open faced so hard to eat.

Tacombi always hits the spot! I thought I had already reviewed them, but apparently not! Yummy, delicious tacos. My fave is the shrimp one because the sauce it comes with is to die for. I have pretty much have had almost all their tacos and I have zero complaints. They're all very good. This past time my friend got the queso masa crunch, which I tried and absolutely loved! I will def be getting that next time. Our server was very nice and informed us about their taco tuesday special (all tacos are bogo). All in all Tacombi is a great place.

    Esquites and half a burrita

The Design District was in need of a place like Tacombi. So happy to see them thriving. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and all the tables were full and the bar had a couple patrons as well. We were able to snag the only high top left without a wait. (Not the most comfortable place to sit and eat. The stools are an odd height for the table, making it for an uncomfortable dining experience.) Nonetheless, we ordered our drinks and food. For a starter I ordered the esquites. It came out quick and had great taste. My friend and I both ordered burritas (burritos) as our main dish. She ordered the chicken and I ordered the steak. I loved mine. She thought hers was too spicy. Overall, Tacombi is a stellar choice in the Design District for an affordable lunch/dinner that also leaves the taste buds satisfied while.

I love classic takes. The interior gives you an old fashioned taco stand aesthetic. It's Art Basel so the crowd was pretty steady but not chaotic. We still had to wait a while for our food and service was a little slow for us sitting at the 'bar' but once we did receive it, we were totally satisfied. We started with fresh, homemade chips with a dry chili salsa and a tomatillo salsa which were both flavorful and spicy. I ordered the pollo yucateo taco, black bean & sweet potato taco with a Topo Chico and my friend had a pescado Frita burrito. Everything was fresh and authentic with explosive flavors. The corn esquites could use more cojita cheese as it wasn't distributed evenly all the way to through. Overall, it's a fan fave and a great spot to stop in for a quick bite if you're craving tacos in the design district

    Costilla De Califa

Wanted to give this place a try because of the partnership with the Michelin Star restaurant El Califa De Leon! First of all the atmosphere is great! The place is really cute. Doesn't feel like Miami to me and I loved that about it. The weather was perfect when we went since this place is wide open with with picnic table style seating outside. The service was also great. Our waitress was really busy but she was very attentive and was really nice. Definitely enjoyed the service. Now to the tacos. We ordered the Costilla Califa tacos and I did not expect what I got I'm not saying they were bad, but I'm also not saying they were the best tacos I've ever had. They definitely were just good. My fave thing the whole night was the corn cup. I'd love to come back and try other tacos from the menu. All in all, the place was great and I think we'd go again but maybe not for the Califa tacos!

    Al Pastor Taco.

After an event at the Moore Building,, a couple of us were hungry and wanted something simple to munch on so we ventured across the street to Tacombi. Cute place, we were promptly seated and our nice server quickly tended to us and took our orders. Opting for a calmer night, the drink of choice was Tropo Chico's all around, aka carbonated water. After looking over the menu, the Al Pastor tacos stood out to me so I placed an order for 2 each. They were so yummy! simple and to the point, à good amount of pork filling , onions and a slice of pineapple on the top. Being a hot sauce lover I asked for a side of their hottest sauce and surprisingly it had a great kick to it! Gobernador Salsa Had my eyebrows sweating lol. After adding that heat to our tacos almost as a topping we had a craving for something sweet so we shared the churros. Crispy, crunchy, lightly dusted in sugar and chocolate on the side for that nice dip. It was so nice to be with my girls at Tacombi, it was the perfect bite to end our perfect evening.

I ordered to go I was walking by and it smelled so delicious. I wish I would have ate there but I had somewhere to be they were very busy but my order came out pretty quick. I got the steak tacos and rice and beans I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures. It was good, the tacos I wish had more on it super plan. Very nice the service .

I tried to order online to go pick it up, but the process is absolutely impossible! It makes you sign in. It sends a code to your email, then you have to enter your phone number and it sends a code to your phone. But it would not accept the code, even though an iPhone automatically cuts and pastes it to the website. So I gave up and walked in to order. That's reason #1 for 4 stars. Once we entered, they wanted us to fill out the menu- like a sushi shop. The problem is that they don't have everything on the menu that they have online. Like the platos, which is what we wanted. So the waitress just put our order into her little pocket computer. They also HAD watermelon juice in the store, but did NOT have it online. So, they need to figure that out too. The food is good. The esquites were so-so. The servers were all very nice. The second reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because this is crazy expensive. Our total for 3 people was over $100 after tip. EACH taco is $6-8! It's a much better deal to get the platos. For $16-17 you get 3 corn taco shells, and the meat to go inside, plus rice and black beans. It was also $1.50 for a side of pico de gallo. The guacamole and chips were the best thing! But the large is $15! So, ya, the food is good, but I can get good Mexican food at a hundred places in Miami. I understand it's the Design District, so I'm sure rent is high. But I won't be back.

Parking was a bit challenging due to the limited number of spaces, but once we walked inside, the experience more than made up for it. We were warmly greeted by Carolina, who also became our server. She was incredibly patient and took her time walking us through the menu, explaining each dish and how everything is prepared. Her dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out, and we hope management recognizes what an asset she is. Carolina proudly shared that every item on the menu is made in‑house, and it absolutely shows. My wife ordered the Quesadilla de Pollo with a side of Arroz Mexicano and couldn't stop talking about the exceptional flavors. I chose the Tostada al Pastor, a small Tortilla Soup, and a side salad. Everything was delicious, but the Tortilla Soup was the star of the meal--a perfect example of why in‑house preparation matters. Since we're not from the area, we weren't sure where to go for lunch, and we truly lucked out choosing Don Maguey--and having Carolina as our server. Thank you, Carolina. When I looked 20 minutes after at my credit card statement read I had been charged $77 and change pending a potential tip on top of that, even with tip included it is still over approximately $7 what I signed off for. We called to determine the prices of each individual meal and "the manager" was stumbling to tell us the prices for everything. Even with the fake numbers that were given to us it still didn't add up correctly. I remember the prices for the 3 meals my family and I ordered and I remember what the check said. I let it be because maybe they need more than I do. As for the food, I'm born and raised on the border of Mexico and although I must say it does scream authenticity especially on appearance the meat is bland, and that "Mexican rice" is by far the worst tasting rice I've had. For a casual person that likes Mexican food you may like it, but if you know what you're tasting you will not. Also, they didn't have 4 different things on the menu available ultimately leading me to have to go with my 5th option. It is very expensive for what it is, and even more expensive when your waitress manipulates the system.

When you walk in, you place your order and pay for it and take a table number. You need to find your own table. Our service was pretty quick, despite how busy the restaurant was. My cold brew was very good and a nice start to the meal. Our guacamole came next and it was nicely styled with pomegranate, cheese and cilantro on top. Yum! Before going, we called the restaurant to ask if they would be showing the World Cup games, and we were told they would be showing all of them. Based on that, we expected a good viewing experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There aren't enough TVs, many of the views are obstructed, and we actually had to move to the bar just to see part of the game. Even then, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear the match at all. When we asked the manager about it, he told us that ownership's instructions were to play music instead of the game's audio. That was especially surprising considering this is a Mexican-owned restaurant and the match was a Mexico World Cup game. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. To be fair, the restaurant was only about half full, so this wasn't a situation where the staff was overwhelmed by a packed house or unusually heavy demand. I was there with two female friends. I ordered a martini while my friends simply asked for water. The bartender reacted as if asking for water was somehow an inconvenience. We weren't even served chips and salsa until we repeatedly waved down members of the staff and specifically requested them. The bartenders consistently ignored us. My friends waited nearly 20 minutes before anyone came back so they could order their martinis. We later ordered guacamole and the Leña skirt steak. The guacamole arrived promptly, but the steak never did. When we asked another bartender to check on it, he looked in the system and told us there was no food order entered at all. This was unbelievable because the original bartender had described the dish, asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and appeared to take the order. He simply never entered it. When we complained to the manager about the missing food, he told us the kitchen was already closed but that he would "make an exception" and have the steak prepared for us. That response really upset me because this wasn't us asking for special treatment--it was the restaurant trying to correct its own mistake. I told him to simply cancel the order. He then said not to worry because he wouldn't charge us for it, as if not charging for a meal would somehow make up for the experience we had just endured. I declined the offer, but he responded by saying he would bring it anyway and that if we didn't want it, we could just leave it there. To me, that response was even more dismissive and completely missed the point. Throughout the evening, the bartenders were inattentive, dismissive, and consistently rude. Their attitude completely overshadowed what had always been one of my favorite restaurants in Coconut Grove. By halftime, we had simply had enough. Instead of continuing what should have been a fun night, we decided to leave the restaurant and go home, where we watched the rest of the Mexico match in the comfort of my home. Sadly, that turned out to be the best part of the night. I'm writing this review because I know Koko is capable of much better. My previous visits have always been enjoyable, which made this experience even more disappointing. However, if you're planning to watch a World Cup match there, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue. While they may tell you they'll be showing the game, the viewing experience is poor, the game audio is replaced with loud music, and based on our visit, the service was, without question, the worst I've experienced there since the restaurant opened. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because Koko has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and I'd like to be able to recommend it again. Unfortunately, after this experience, I simply can't.

It just makes it iconic. It travels well and everything was still hot when I got home. The Al Pastor taco was just okay, nothing to write home about but now the steak burrito was really really good. I love that they don't have rice in their burritos and instead replace it with potatoes, which is absolutely delicious. They give two different types of salsas with your order plus limes and the green salsa is unreal. Add it to everything for a flavor boost! All in all this place is fire and if you're craving nachos, this is definitely the place you should come to get your fix!

Yesterday we stopped by here to get lunch to go. We did the online order on their app. We were…read moreexpecting to get the same quality and service we got 3 months ago (5 stars) but unfortunately that did not happen this visit. We are very disappointed that the chicken and steak burritos were not seasoned very well (bland) and both were so dry. I couldn't even taste any cheese in the chicken burrito either. I took a few bites and had to give the rest to our dogs. What a shame. My daughter couldn't finish her burrito either. I tasted her steak burrito and it didn't taste like any steak that I have ever tried. So disappointing. The guac and chips were good but they were like a little side dish. So, there went a wasted $50 for lunch. We were still hungry. Since it was a to-go order, we didn't feel like going back all that way again. It was a very hot day. Service was strange. I sat in the car but my daughter went up to the counter to pick up our order. She stood there for a long time in the hot sun and no one helped her. There was a bag sitting on the counter already. Finally when she was helped, the guy said that the bag sitting there was ours!! She was highly irritated fir the poor service. He should have checked to see if his customer was there to pick up the only bag on the counter. In retrospect, we should have tasted our burritos before driving home to taste them but we trusted them. Sorry to say, we won't be going back.
