I wasn't sure about this place at first. I Drove by it 100 times before this time after looking on Yelp I decided to stop in. Menu was confusing but the nice guy behind the counter was great. After speaking with him I believe he might be the proprietor. I told him it was my first time there and I wanted TACOS. Told him surprise me with different Fish Tacos. I got a #37, the fish tacos, and they were INCREDIBLE. Ever since getting back from Puerto Rico, I've had a hard time finding comparable tacos as I was spoiled over there. Alas, I have found them! I visited for the first time a couple weeks ago and just ordered take out. The food is good. Everything is so, so incredibly fresh and portions are huge! I just wish some of the meats and other things had more seasoning and spices to add to all the awesome fresh ingredients. More flavor and I'd be there every day! Everyone on staff seems very nice, but when I ordered today the girl on the phone kept taking down the wrong order and repeating it incorrectly. It's a little irking when you get something you don't want so I'm crossing my fingers it comes out right. I hated seeing that it was quiet when I went in after eating because it truly is a great place, but after sitting and waiting then eating I see why many don't stay to eat, the chairs are not ass friendly and it's not a comfortable place to stay for any longer than for your order to be ready. This place gets busy so it's better to call ahead for pick-up or order online if you're getting take out. You can never go wrong with their chicken avocado tortilla soup; it's both hearty and zesty with cilantro, onions, cheese, diced avocados, corn and shredded chicken. Their cabbage wraps are also a nice healthy option; the cabbage leaves are on the thick side so be mindful of that. My personal favorite are the tostadas, open-faced tacos. You can have your choice of meat placed over a fried corn tortillas, topped with black beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and guacamole with homemade salsa on the side. Came across this place on Yelp as I was in an unfamiliar town. Yelp to try rescue again! Good was delicious! There was such big flavor in all of their ingredients. It was chipotle-esque in that you tell them what you want from their toppings station. I had a burrito and my friend got the crazy quesadillas. Tried the tortilla soup as they had a check in offer. It was quite tasty and a great portion size. Not in this area often but would definitely return (especially for that soup!) They had interesting options that I hadn't seen before which I very much appreciated as most Mexican restaurants have the same standard fare. Tacorito's first location is at 110 Main St., Hightstown, NJ. That happens to be my location of choice for Friday lunches and has been for over three years. On my initial visits to Tacorito, I was very partial to the burritos; I've had the chicken, steak and pork packed with deliciously seasoned meat, and all the fresco ingredients you would expect in a fat burrito that strained to keep everything inside. After a while the staff recommended I try the chicken enchiladas. Couple of things about Tacorito's chicken enchiladas - you will immediately note the freshness of the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, which is always crisp, cool, and vibrant and piled high with a drizzle of sour cream. And as you make your way to the tortilla, you will notice the chicken is shredded/pulled, not cubed or over-salted as if it were processed, and again you can immediately tell its freshly cooked and authentically seasoned. If you like it a little less spicy, go with the verde salsa. If you want a little kick, go with the rojo. Me? Let's just say when I call in my order I'm "Ken the mole guy". I'd describe mole as non-sweet chocolate, mildly spicy, ideal texture and density, great color brown, and smothers the chicken enchiladas as a perfect compliment. Oh, and it's homemade in small batches. Also delicious from the menu made with the same quality are the tacos and crazy empanadas. Every plate is accompanied by yellow rice and black beans which I recommend mixing together and add in any leftover mole. Portions are large, you will not go home hungry. Staff is very friendly, restaurant is always clean. Prices are very reasonable. This is not a burrito-chain, you will have to wait a little longer, but not much and it's so worth it. If you're crunched for time just call in or order online. There is outdoor seating as well and parking in back if Main St. is busy. I love this place, it's cheap, hearty, authentic, neighborhood, fresh, inexpensive..... and unbelievably inefficient. Frustratingly poorly run. Every single time I have to wait and watch them screw up orders while I wait endlessly for them to finish multitudes of take out orders before I can construct my "build your own". Think about that for a second. Imagine you were at a sit-down restaurant and they made you wait for all the take outs to be processed before you were served. It makes absolutely no sense. And yet they have a minimum of three people tripping over themselves to process the orders. It's truly not hard. Take two people put them on take outs, keep those tickets separate. Take another person and have them dedicated to eat-ins and people who are physically there (meaning they didn't call ahead). Keep these tickets separate from the call-ins and online orders. It's truly that simple. They are lucky their positives outweigh their terrible confusion and disorganization. But we all, their loyal customers suffer because they have no incentive to organize properly. read more

Within the last year, the service has diminished. Long hold times to place an order and our orders are always incorrect! Our favorites: Crazy emapanadas, green chicken enchiladas, the rice bowl with beef and their amazing fireball hot sauce. Their fish tacos are fantastic if you eat it at the restaurant and chicken tortilla soup is a home run every time. I've seen them add to their menu often and everything they add is amazing.
