Saturday night we were in the Blue Springs area, and we decided to finally try it out. We had seen this taco place a few times, just driving by, and I am always apprehensive trying anything so-called Mexican, particularly tacos. I felt almost sacrilege trying this place even after having wonderful tacos down in Mexico a few months back (please check those reviews). Anyhow, I figured we could try it and what would be the worst? That they could be bland? To my surprise the tacos weren't bland at all. They had an array of combinations, but we chose the chicken and a steak chipotle. The meat was tender, tacos were all around moist and the flavor wasn't bad. Very good Tex-Mex tacos. I felt these were mostly California style, with the seasonings and all. I would stay away from the salsa. It wasn't any salsa that I would ever use. It had a Memphis style bar-b-que vinegar style, nasty. The place was very much to my observation akin to Hawaiian Bros. If you have ever been inside Hawaiian Bros, with the teal design and tropic splash, this is what the inside of the place reminded me of. Had been seeing this taco spot many times and was curious about. Hit the drive thru on a Saturday afternoon. Service was quick and efficient. Got the grilled chicken taco in a puffed shell. Yummy. I see why it's a fan fave. My absolute fave was the mahi mahi taco. The fish was grilled and tender. The cabbage slaw added crunch. Next time I'll switch out the flour tortilla for corn. Gobbled them up so quickly - forgot to take a pic. What I love most about this restaurant is that a percentage of earnings is donated to help end childhood hunger. Very cool. First time here. Went through the drive thru to pick up dinner for me and Mr G. I got Mr G an steak ultimate nacho. I wanted to try a taco and got the taco combo with a half size steak ultimate nacho. I thought it would be interesting to try the seared tofu taco. The taco was terrible and not because it was tofu. It had absolutely no flavor except hot. My lips were burning for 30 minutes after eating the taco. It was also just tossed together. The steak nachos were actually pretty good, but not stellar. Mr. G. Did not like their guacamole. There were large pieces of steak in the nachos. Again not a lot of flavor, but they were not so spicy/hot that you couldn't enjoy them. They were actually pretty mild. Taco Bell has more flavor character. In terms of value for the money spent. Over priced for what you get and the quality of the food was not worth the price paid. Darn it Tacos 4 Life! I really, really want to love you. And I know it's possible because the Overland Park location is always good. First the positive, the guy working the drive through (only shown as "RDS Admin") at 4:13pm on 4/10 was very friendly. I got my taco in an acceptable amount of time. And I appreciate that their 1 taco combo gives you the opportunity to chose from any of their sides - not just the standard beans and rice. I really like their queso and chips and was not disappointed with them. But my taco.... I decided to try the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch taco. It was suppose to have grilled chicken, cheese, bacon, poblano pepper and ranch dressing. All things I like. What I got was dry bits of chicken, no poblano pepper, lettuce, cheese and if there was ranch dressing on it, I sure didn't taste it. So, once I got home, most of it went in the trash. Again. I still believe in you Tacos 4 Life. But don't know how many more chances you'll get. read more

Expensive, slow, expensive, and did I say expensive? Microwaved tortillas are not fun.. Also... the mild salsa doesn't taste right. We have had it about 7 times. And it's not the cilantro! I'm a cilantro fan! But their salsa tastes like chemicals. read more

Been wanting to try this place out for awhile. Well I knew they closed in an hour but I took a chance. Menu was more complicated that I expected with more offerings than I expected. I just wanted a couple of tacos thru the drive up. I chose a fried chicken one and a steak one. I asked for water and they asked if I wanted ice in it. Part of their philosophy is to feed the hungry as a charity. The food was definitely prepared fresh. The casual dining room looked nice thru the window. I got my water right away and my tacos were ready n in a reasonable time. They were larger than I thought they might be. The fried chicken one was so good. I wish I'd realized the sauce was sweet. Next time I'd skip the sauce. The steak was also very good if a bit messy. Extra napkins needed. Luckily I carry some in the car. Next time I think I'll bring a guest and we'll go inside. Service- we went thru the drive thru 2 times. For me it was giving me anxiety I felt rushed and there was 1 car in front of me no cars behind me. Don't get me wrong I love that they have a drive thru. I was giving anything else or what else vibes We got the -Korean barbecue taco -chipotle taco -mahi mahi taco -Mexican corn -Cilantro rice -Chicken tortilla soup -stake nachos I am a huge fan of the Korean barbecue taco the meat so tender and delicious, I've got it 2 times now. Nachos were loaded and ingredients super Fresh. Sides - we got Cilantro rice was good and even came with a slice of lime and the Mexican Corn was dry but flavorful. I was disappointed in the portion of my soup it was half the size of the bowl it came in. Pretty pricey but I will be back even if it's just for the Korean barbecue taco! Happy fooding! read more

I had the Hawaiian Shrimp taco with Mexican Cream corn. The Taco would have been phenomenal if the pineapple pieces weren't freezing cold - maybe if they were grilled. It threw off the whole taco. Mexican cream corn 10/10. Guacamole wasn't very good either. The chicken bacon ranch tacos were my husbands. He stated that the sauce was weird, tasting like a broccoli/ranch cream. Did not pair well with the Taco at all. Food was delivered very quickly. The decor was adorable. However, there aren't many places for just two people to sit. I love tacos and will love them for life. I went through the drive thru, it was about 11:30 a.m. I got the Chipotle Steak and a Classic Beef. Chipotle Steak was alright, steak was kind of gristly, but otherwise the flavor was good! Classic Beef was the better of the two. Added some of their hot sauce too, The tacos were a bit smaller than I imagined and they were pricey. It says they do donate a meal for a meal purchased, so that's kinda neat. The cashier wasn't the friendliest, but it was a day after a holiday so I probably wasn't either haha. The place looked cool and clean from what I could see. When I ordered, I felt like $15 was to expensive for a couple tacos with street corn and a drink, but when I received my food I realized that the portion size was larger than I expected. The habanero mango chicken taco was awesome, but the Chipotle steak didn't have any flavor and the meat was tough. The street corn was as good as it looked. read more

Was very happy with my first visit to T4L. I got the Classic Taco, which has a soft shell. It was very good. My friend ordered the Nachos, which was huge, and he shared them with me. I wasn't too thrilled with the Nachos, which were okay. The Tacos were much better. The elderly gentleman, who brought us our food only brought one fork. I asked him why he only brought one fork & he acted like I was telling a joke or something & started laughing. Maybe he should retire. Also, the taco sauce (tiny) bottle has to be violently shaken to barely get some taco sauce out of it. I guess they're trying to save on sauce ! omg this food is amazing! Not like any other taco place around, the flavors are bold and the shells are their own unique feature a mix between a hard and soft shell taco. Stopped in at the Blue Springs Tacos 4 Life today for the first time at my wife's request. She had been saying everyone had been raving about how good it was. I ordered the grilled chicken fajita burrito and when it showed up at the table, I opened the wrapping and it was a soggy mess, it didn't look like it had been grilled except for one side and when eating it the grilled part was ice cold. With the temp of the one "grilled" side and soggy burrito shell, it must have been microwaved instead of truly grilled. My wife got the taco and rice bowl combo. She was unimpressed by the mango habanero taco and couldn't eat the fish on the rice bowl as it was dried out (microwaved???). I don't see us coming back, we would rather go somewhere else. read more

I had Alysa help me out on the menu and she not only me helped me, she also took the time to go over what was purpose for the company and how many meals have been provided for the children in Africa. Food is good, but nothing to write home about. Service was good but this is a fast-food place. You do not get tipped at a fast-food place. That's reserved for full-service restaurants and bars only. This place not only hits you for a tip at the ordering counter, the attendant cashier makes darn sure to point it out. Quite frankly no. To be fair, they appear to expect you to leave your tray at your table. They have no bins of any kind in the eating area that I could see. Still fast food though. Ambiance is dubious and I have no qualms with the "Feed the Hungry" stated goal, but don't need it nearly so "in my face" as the decor places it. Short version of this review... Meh. read more

They have a wonderful mission to donate meals to feed the hungry, so I don't mind paying a little bit more for the food knowing the additional money goes to a good cause. As a self-proclaimed taco snob, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Now, I will say if you're looking for good street tacos, you should head on over to KCK to any of the amazing taco spots....however if you want a "taco twist" this place is pretty good! Highly recommend the Korean beef taco (so freakin good and with a bit of a kick), the chipotle steak taco, and the mango habanero taco. By far, the fan favorite for our house was the Korean beef. The ultimate trio of dips with chips was pretty good also. I make a mean guacamole so when I can actually enjoy a restaurant version, you know it's gonna hit. The chips were toasty warm with a sprinkle of seasonings that make these new and different. Overall, my family was pleased with the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and it certainly seemed like everyone was in a good mood. Service was fast and all of the food came out correct. Let's start with the kids meal. 0/10 Bean and cheese burrito simple this can not be ruined...wrong the tortilla was hard they didn't take time to warm it up how do I know? A warm tortilla doesn't break. Everything was so cold that the cheese never melted. The Nachos 1/10 paid extra for steak....counted the steak. 4 pieces. The peppers had a terrible taste not spicy more burnt. Corn 5/10 I love corn any corn so that being said it was bland. Tacos...tacos...1/10 Chorizo and Potatoes- mom made me chorizo and potatoes growing up I remembered this isn't mommas cooking. Welp the mixture must be sitting awhile the potato's and chorizo became one mushhh. There was potential with the tacos but the tortillas were raw and hard. Grilled Chicken tacos would of been 7/10 if they actually put cilantro, onion and warmed the tortillas. Instead 1/10 The Mexican in me couldn't keep my mouth close so I decided to talk with the manager. Before I started talking to him he was already walking away from me. He blamed the shift change for the lack of steaming the tortillas. The bigger slap in the face is he told me he was Hispanic himself. Stopped by to check out the new taco join in Blue Springs. I orders the classic taco, the fried chicken taco, blackened Mahi Mahi, and the fajita chicken taco. Each taco was good. The cow lassi. Taco had the most meat. The others were filled with mostly toppings. The price was kinda high for my taste. Service was spotty. My order was wrong when it was initially brought to me. Luckily I checked it before I left. But that is too be expected for a grand opening. Overall it was nice, nothing I'll crave on a whilst basis. Update. Went back to give it a try and things were much better. I ordered the 2 taco meal.the tacos were filled with meat and very tasty. I also got the queso rice and it was fantastic. In a town with a Taco Trail, this was fine. Is it a great value? No. Is the menu as good as the one published online? No and this set us up for disappointment. To boot, there were plenty of staff around and the dining room was a hot mess. Also, the soda fountains had only water working after we were sold sodas. They didn't fix it for anyone. This is my second time here and my boyfriend's 4th. I was really hoping the food would be better. I had street tacos with carnitas and he had mango habanero soft tacos. He got a grilled chicken hard taco and a mango soft with a golf ball sized chunk of avocado in it. He said that taco was all heat and no flavor. It's gonna be a No for me. I am a fan of authentic tacos and I got a carnitas taco in a fried flour tortilla? I was not a fan of the tortilla or the lettuce/ spring onions on the taco or the sauce. I was kind of expecting actual taco salsa and cilantro or onion. We got very small portions on the rice/ meat bowl. I was not a fan of the chicken nachos either. The chicken looked and tasted like the cooked frozen chicken they sell at stores, not a fan of the nacho cheese either. The chicken quesadilla had no flavor. Two stars because the taco portion was large for the carnitas taco but everything else was small portioned which was disappointing considering how expensive it is there. Delicious! First time for the boyfriend and I to ever visit a Tacos 4 Life and we were happily surprised. We're used to fast food taco chains being kinda just ok but this was great! We adored the Korean BBQ taco and the Mahi Mahi and I loved the different take on sopapillas! The place was clean, well-lit, colorful, and smelled great! We had a normal wait for sit down tacos and the staff was super sweet about our visit. They came by our table and asked about our experience and we had a lovely time chatting. We're planning to make this our food place along the highway since we drive through blue springs a lot. It was a pleasant surprise to find a place that ticks all our boxes like this! read more
