Yummy yum yum this place seriously rocks! Have ordered quite a few times and the food is always delicious and great quality for the price. Hidden little gem with fast and efficient service

The location is small and easy to miss but it's a GEM!

I only give it a 4 because I believe in making improvements at all times. However, this is a solid rating. I placed my order and I received it in under 10 minutes. If you're looking for something quick for lunch or dinner, it seems like they will have orders ready for customers. Earlier in the week I ordered 3 tacos: Al Pastor, Tripa Dorada, Lengua. The Al Pastor was good but made on the flat iron as opposed to the rotating vertical spit. The Lengua was good and it was sliced, other places tend to make it chopped in cubes. My highlight was the Tripa, small intestine. I like my Tripa fried, sometimes twice fried. The cook understood the assignment, it was crunchy and it wasn't greasy. Most places make tripa and often it's too chewy and at times greasy. Not here. On my second trip, I ordered: Al Pastor, Pollo (chicken), Chille Relleno (cheese-stuffed pepper), Tripa. The order was consistent with their Al Pastor and Tripa. I've never tried a Chile Rellenó but I'm glad I did. It wasn't huge like I have seen other places make Chile Relleno. It was a good portion but not overpowering. My highlight of this trip was the Pollo. Most places usually make their Pollo fajita like, Tinga like (chicken made with chipotle sauce) or grilled. Not here, their approach to Pollo is to chop it and it works. It finely chopped and you get a good portion. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a combination of white and dark meat. I've always said tacos are not meant to be expensive or upscale and if they are they're meant for special occasions. If you're like me, I'll take tacos any day of the week. The prices are more reasonable than other places in this area and you get your money's worth. Again, they offer more than just tacos. I'm adding this review because the business is small but there were people coming and going and that's always a good sign. Also, images don't do it justice, come check it out for yourself. I hope this helps.

We stopped here after reading the great reviews on Yelp and were happy we did. The staff who took our order was very helpful and explained the different spice levels. I ordered the verde/green/mild enchiladas: one each of beef, steak, pork and chicken. Each was tasty though the chicken and beef were my favorites; the chicken was well seasoned and moist. The plate came with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato and sour cream. The beans were tasty and I was impressed with the generous portion of sour cream compared to other places. Hot and mild sauces are offered too. Both were good and the red sauce was flavorful as well as spicy. They have outside seating which is a nice space if you want to eat your food there. We'll stop by again to try something else, probably a burrito or tamale.

That was on me, but still, the drink itself was solid. For my meal, I got the spicy shrimp appetizer, and we also shared guacamole and chips--probably the best guac I've had yet! The chips were light and airy, which I really appreciated. Our friends got the fish tacos with a side of rice and beans--also very fresh and flavorful. The tuna tacos were great too. Our waiter was really nice and had no issue splitting the checks for us. The inside is nicely decorated, and the wall of tequila adds a fun touch. The outdoor seating felt a bit cramped though--where we sat, it seemed like we were super close to other tables, and it was a little tight for the waitstaff to move around. Overall, a really good experience! They weren't kidding when they said spicy shrimp--it was definitely spicy, but in the best way. The breading and flavor were on point.

I ordered the nachos with chicken and they were so filling and delicious that I didn't order an entree for dinner. My brother had the fajitas and he can be picky! He said they were delicious. The drink menu is generous. They offer some unique margaritas that are a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. The blueberry lavender margarita tasted amazing - it was very sweet! We will definitely be back, especially with the location being conveniently located in downtown St. Charles!

Been going to El Puente for many many years and have never been disappointed. Back in the 1970's…read morethe owner, Jesse, had a place called Longy's in Lombard that we often ate at with my parents....I digress. We usually go to El Puente for lunch and enjoy a special off the "lunch menu" but the regular menu is quite extensive with many delicious choices. They keep the complimentary chips and salsa coming, chips are nice and thin, not greasy and the 2 salsas are quite tasty. Food is always fresh and filling, can't beat the service as they always have a smile and make sure you're happy with everything. El Puente is a old fashioned Mexican restaurant with good food, friendly service and fare prices!

Don't waste your time on asking for salsa verde because it tastes like nothing. The queso fundido is good but gets dry and hard fast. It's not very cheesy and melty like others I've had. Don't waste your time on the guac either, it's just mashed avocado. It needs some seasoning or spice or lime at minimum. And the chicken fajita's are absolutely awful. It was so disappointing. They have a very sweet and almost bbq-like taste. Also, you really don't get much chicken even. It's mostly just onions and peppers. I had to spit them out. The rice is good though. I'd some back for drinks and chips & salsa but that would really be it. The server was good and attentive and the restaurant was decorated for Valentine's Day. It was cute. We went around 2:30pm and it was not busy.

The menu is pretty extensive - next time I'll have to try the breakfast which is served all day. The service was good, they brought my tacos outside to my table. My boyfriend had a variety of tacos (fish, shrimp, and ribeye steak) but the fish taco was his favorite. There were only 2-3 young men working the front of the house and they were hustling. They spoke very loud and clear (a good thing!) and stayed busy taking orders, cleaning tables, and checking on guests. Job well done to those hard workers. Inside is a bit tight. When we visited, a part of the restaurant was closed off for a party so seating was limited to the few tables up front. However, there are some tables outside and you're super close to St Mary's Park so you could always get your order to-go and picnic at the park.
