We got the asada tacos to go with everything on it. It was so good! The meat, the tortilla, the guac, all of it hit the spot. It is really crowded so expect to wait and we waiting about 15 min maybe for to go order still worth it. There are three options you can do to go orders which people walk up to a table in the middle to order , dine in which has a line on the left side (seemed to move quickly) , and drive thru where you park behind a sign and wait in your car and they will bring it out to you.
So I usually go to another taco stand VERY VERY close to Franc's and really enjoy them. My coworker asked me to come to Francs with him mentioning that they are a Michelin Star restaurant and so we did. Service was great in this open area restaurant. I had two al Pastor tacos. They were absolutely delicious and I think a little bigger than the other location. Although I did miss the pineapple in my tacos. The salsa was great and again, I really enjoyed having options. Even though there are numerous street vendors with arguably larger portions and better pricing, this place is still a solid choice providing the variety of meats and no-nonsense approach to getting delicious tacos out fast. There were a few vendors on the street selling pastries and other sweets and lots of pedestrians passing by, not to mention traffic congestion. That said, we were in line for a mere few minutes before we were promptly seated and had our orders taken. Around the restaurant, conversations were loud and the energy was palpable. The folks preparing the tacos were front and center, with meat supplies replenished as quickly as they are depleted. I ordered the suadero, tripa, campechano, and lengua with everything on. The campechano had a meaty, charred flavor of beef mixed with guacamole, and the suadero was a succulent stewed meat with plenty of dripping goodness. Priced slightly more than the rest, the lengua was familiar, yet memorable and worth trying. My favorite has to be the tripas, a hit of umami with a delicious crispy texture. A bottle of Mazanita Sol helped wash everything down. In total, we ordered 14 tacos and might have ordered more had we not been completely full.
I'm a bit perplexed about "Tacos El Franc." I've been told over and over again that these tacos aren't good. My family in Tijuana has said the same, as well as my friend who loves their sister location, "Tacos El Frances." However, these tacos were actually pretty good--the best we had that night, and we even went to another taco spot nearby. There was a line, but we were seated in about five minutes. A lady came by to take our order. We each ordered two tacos, and one of us ordered a mula. For drinks, they only have Pepsi products, homemade horchata, and jamaica (hibiscus). The drinks came out quickly, and the food followed soon after. I had an adobada taco with everything on it and a carne asada taco, also with everything. The adobada was flavorful, and the hot sauce wasn't too spicy. The best one, though, was the carne asada--it was very flavorful as well. My friend, who usually prefers the sister location, was surprised by how good it was this time. So, I can say that on this visit, the tacos were amazing. However, I wouldn't expect that level of quality every time--it seems to vary (YMMV). The restaurant itself isn't the best looking, and the seating arrangements are a bit odd. The table we sat at had questionable seats--we honestly didn't think they'd hold up the whole time we were there, but they did. Overall, if you want to try this place, go for it and start with a couple of tacos. If they're good, order more. Just don't expect it to be a 10/10 every visit. F.Y.I this place is cash only. They take pesos or US dollars.
Wow, there is a reason this spot is on the Michelin Recommended list!! We arrived about 10 minutes after the restaurant opened and it was already packed! The adobada vampiro was sooooo delicious. The tortillas were fried perfectly and there it was so filled. The guacamole was so fresh. I need to come back with an empty stomach to try the cabeza.
Been here many times and they never fail to deliver great quality food! Not to mention the delicious chile and grilled onions. The cucumbers are a plus for me. Real guacamole and great customer service. I personally love their fresh aquas frescas and their al pastor tacos. You can smell these tacos blocks away. Food is always freshly made. Tortillas are authentically made in front of you and they have a drive through which makes it even more convenient for people on the go! A must try in Tijuana. Best tacos hands down!
Best tacos so far I had in Tijuana. I got the carne asada tacos they are delicious the flavor of the meat is amazing. The tortilla is hand made. I should order 2 best the are big. The guy that help us with our food was nice and was very helpful what to order. You had to wait but was not too much only like 10 minutes. There is a long line but worth the wait
"Where's a good place to get tacos?" Well, here! Super friendly service, simple, inexpensive, and the locals love this place too. Tacos are 45 pesos each. If you're not sure which taco to start with, always start with Taco Asada (basic beef taco). If you come solo you can sit at the taco bar. Just yell out "asada" and within a minute they'll call to you "amigo!" and hand you your fresh off the grill taco. Very lively ambiance. You might have to wait up to 10 minutes for a table to become available. Pay at the register.

The BEST! Service is super quick, prices are amazing (around $2.50 per taco), and the whole place has that real, authentic taco-shop vibe. Definitely recommend if you're hanging out in TJ! read more

When in tj, it's a must stop. Delicious meat, especially the adobada yum. Large portions, lots of meat in these tacos. Even though the line is long and the tables are filled you still get Fast service. They only accept American or Mexican cash . read more
I know some people will talk down about this place.... But I think it is sheer jealousy. I found it to be a perfect taco spot. Plenty of proteins to choose (feel like a little tongue, or cow brain). And who says beans don't do in a taco.... Not me!!! I get it. I see what the Michelin crew noticed. They serve a straight ahead taco offering that seems simple but has all the good stuff. And it all works! Handmade tortillas, house guacamole, beans, cheese etc..... as the French say: Par Excellence! read more

Love the food, love the service, love the ambiance. We went at 10:30 pm on a Friday night, the place was packed and full of actions. Waited 10 minutes for a table, not bad at all. There is a bar sitting as well, and "drive-thru", where you drive up to order with a server then wait in their parking lot. The food was tasty, everything was nicely marinated and grilled. The guac and salsa are on point. Great experience for a late night eat in TJ. read more
Ordered: Carne Asada Taco ($39 pesos) Carne Asada Quesadilla ($75 pesos) Mirinda soda ($39 pesos) Aya's take: Everyone raves about Tacos El Franc and I knew I had to swing by on my day trip to Tijuana. FYI: double check the hours on Google since Yelp had incorrect hours. We went around 2pm and they were very much open! Service is quick and the meats are super fresh. Both the Taco and Quesadilla were really delicious and filling. The Mirinda was also nostalgic for me as we don't have that in the States. Although I don't eat pork and couldn't try what they're known for, I can confidently say the carne asada is also worth a try! read more
This is going to be short and sweet. Probably the best street tacos I've had while in Southern California. The adobado tacos are perfection. The place is packed and the service is quick and efficient. Their Michelin plate recognition doesn't hurt either. Run, don't walk and try these tacos during your next trip to Tijuana. read more
First TJ taco at this location and it did not disappoint. The adobada taco with everything is my favorite. The carne asada taco has beans which make it a tad runny but it had good flavor. But the adobada...delicious. The service is friendly and fast. We sat down and someone was there to take our order in quick fashion. It was packed at 4:10pm on a Wednesday but the turnover is quick. People don't dilly dally here. They eat and leave (happy and full). It was a hot day but they had fans going in their open patio seating area. They have a small parking lot nearby. Came here as the first stop on a TJ taco tour (led by a coworker), and it sure set the bar high for the rest of the day. In fact, it was my top choice out of the five spots we went to. Got the adobada, cabeza, suadero, and lengua tacos, and I highly recommend all of them - most especially the adobada! Tacos are true street tacos - small, but mighty. If we didn't have four more stops to go, I would have kept going, and tried the rest of the menu. Tacos El Franc is becoming well known, so there may be a line when you come to visit, but it'll go by quickly, and tbh, I'd say it's worth the wait. read more
There are so many reviews for Tacos El Franc on Google and it seems like a popular place amongst the locals too. Even from a block away we can see how busy it was and you could already smell the tacos from afar. Cash only! If you're ordering to-go, I believe you just go to the specific station. But since we were dining in, we ordered after being seated. The tacos came out fast and with a side of cucumbers and radishes. I've never seen cucumbers at a taqueria before but it's a nice palette cleanser between different types of tacos. I only ordered the adobada tacos but thought they were just alright. Not the best but not the worst. I think the meat could've been more flavorful but that's just me. My friends also tried the cabeza and also thought they were just okay but the lengua was pretty good. One thing that I thought was really cool was the drive-thru. Not like a usual drive-thru you see at McDonald's. It was just along the sidewalk and a sign that indicates where to line your cars up. read more

My brother took me to try out this taco spot. He said the tacos were pretty good, so he wanted me to give them a try. My brother said this spot is popular and that it came out in a few videos that went viral, so there's usually a wait. When we arrived, there was about a fifteen minute wait. We were near the front of the line. The restaurant is half open and half enclosed. They also have a drive-thru line, where you can drive up and place an order. There were a lot of large groups dining this day. About 15 minutes passed, and we were taken to a table to sit down. I was going to order tacos, but then I went ahead and ordered a tostada de al pastor and a vaso de frijoles preparados. The tostada was great. I enjoyed how charred it was. The beans tasted great. It almost felt like a caldo de frijoles, but it also had chunks of meat. The service was speedy. The tables were cleared and cleaned right away. I will need to come back and try the tacos. read more

Tacos El Franc is a rather popular destination as one of the places you must visit when you cross the border so the lines can be really long. Fortunately I came during off hours, there was still a line but very manageable and only a few minutes wait. Its an open air restaurant so you're covered but basically the whole side is open. Theres a rather extensive menu but I think what stands out the most is the large pork trumpo. I usually consider that to be Al Pastor, but they call it adobada. I don't know if they are interchangeable or if theres a difference, maybe just the pineapple? but that's what I ordered. The adobada had nice bits of char with gave it extra flavor, the tortilla was warmed, it came topped with onions, cilantro and guacamole. It was very good, but similar to what I might find in SD when it comes shaved off the trumpo or vertical rotating spit. Maybe it was slightly better and definitely much cheaper, but is it worth crossing the boarder and waisting a whole day just to save a few bucks? Probably lost out on paying for parking at the boarder anyhow. If you're gonna be across the boarder for another reason then you should definitely make this one of your stops. The restaurant is large and they are busy so I suggest you figure out what you want while you're standing in line. Once the waiter asks what you want and you say you need more time, it might be awhile before he gets back to you. You'll almost definitely have a long time while waiting in line so figure it out before hand.. They should have signs in the line so people can decide before they get seated. read more

Then I got some tips from the locals. And ordered carne Asada tacos dorado with beans and avocado omg 20 stars best tacos I ever had .Comes with slices of cucumber, which are very refreshing. This place has a Michelin star definitely gonna come back again. Sit by the bar if you're by yourself for quick service. read more
Second lunch stop in Tijuana, Mexico... I felt very fortunate to just follow along with our foodie tour guide. He knew of this very popular taco place and led us to join the long line of customers. We were able to take photos of the cooking action which was out in the open. It was an interesting, casual, cozy set-up. We squeezed into the far corner where we flagged down different servers. I ordered an adobada taco and refreshing horchata. The taco's taste was great! I liked the smokey flavor of the tender, tasty meat! Thanks for the unique experience! read more

These are hands down the best tacos I have ever had. If I am ever near the border or can make a reason to go I always come here. All the tacos are amazing but I highly recommend the adobada and cabeza they are my favorite. I usually get 2 asada, 2 adobada, and 2 cabeza. Filled all the way to the brim with pure bliss. The service here is so fast and it always amazes me how they just remember everything. It is a fast moving place and it feels like you are in a little hole in the wall place in TJ. I love watching all the cooks cut the meat and magically throw together all these delicious tacos. They also have a Michelin star! So if you are in the area or can make it to the area it's a must go! Locals' favorite, out-of-town visitors' favorite, simply a must when in TJ! It's a large taco "stand" with ample seating because of their popularity. The parking situation is a hit or miss, again, due to their popularity you may need to circle around a couple times but it'll be worth it. The tortillas are freshly made, delicious, and very filling as they are quite large. The meats are all equally great and they have many to choose from- definitely try the suadero, it is made to perfection and not a common option at all taco stands. Can't beat the customer service, 5 stars all around! Everyone is very friendly and they try their best to keep the line/wait times moving while providing the best service with a welcoming smile. read more

The last place on my Tijuana food tour was the one I particularly wanted to go to the most, as I had heard several times from my friends that Tacos El Franc is better than Tacos El Gordo. Well, I finally got my chance to try it! Ordered adobada, asada, and cabeza tacos as well as a very ill-advised adobada quesadilla. First things first, I love El Gordo's adobada and I think it is quite good. El Franc's adobada smokes El Gordo's adobada by a significant margin. Like dude, it's not even close. El Franc's adobada gets it completely right. The right amount of BBQ flavor with that crispiness and saltiness...man, hard to beat that. The asada and cabeza were also amazing as well, but yeah the adobada is the king here. Getting the quesadilla was not a good idea though because I already at my breaking limit on food and that put me over the top, but it was quite good too. Service is good here. Unlike El Gordo and their confusing lines to get your meat, people actually take your order here. Then you pay up front. Pretty straightforward. I think it's actually quite funny that El Gordo is across the street from El Franc, yet EVERYONE is at El Franc. That should tell you enough. read more

Tacos El Franc was by far the most memorable dining experience during my trip to Tijuana. Food: Absolutely delicious! I generally prefer seafood to meat, but you would never know that judging from how I inhaled these tacos. Lol. (5 stars) Service: Solid and hospitable. (5 stars) Ambiance: Perfect escapism. I had a street view table, so I enjoyed people watching and soaking in the sights and sounds of Tijuana during my meal. (5 stars) read more

My stance on El Franc remains unchanged even after visiting again recently and post-Michelin recognition. We rolled in at 5pm and were able to sit down right away, as a positive. Keep in mind, they do not open until 4pm as carne asada and adobada, their main staples, are only savored for dinner time. Again, a weird experience. The S.O. had no complaints, but I thought it odd to have frijoles added to each taco "con todo". Plus, the adobada was, once again, too salty and the carne asada (mine only it seems) was chewy although it did have good flavor. These days, El Franc is very popular, so there is a designated cone to form a line when all seats are occupied. Somehow, they have no problem getting you in and serving you so it seems like it would be a quick process if you do encounter a queue. read more

Wanted to check out this spot after seeing the Netflix documentary. Although I will say that the tacos are very good, from what I saw on Netflix, and what was described, I was looking for more. Unfortunately, I happen to see the tacos, documentary, and that had impacted, or should I say, left me with a bias. I have such high expectations of this place that I don't think they had a chance to live up to it. I happen to live in Los Angeles county, where we are flooded with groupo Tacos, and unfortunately, this was on par with some of the locations I've been to That are street vendors. I almost wish that I didn't see the documentary so that I would have an unbiased opinion on this location. Overall, if you cross the border and come here, I doubt you will be disappointed. Just know that it will not change your life. read more
