This was my first time here. When I arrived, I was expecting to dine in, but found out they are takeout-only. The menu was also difficult to read because many of the prices had faded badly -- they really need to go over the board with a Sharpie so first-time customers can actually see the prices clearly. I ordered the birria plate. The portion of meat was very generous -- probably at least half a pound -- and it came with a few standard tortillas, a small bag of chopped onion, cilantro, plus three lemon wedges. It also included a small side of refried beans with cheese on top, which was unremarkable, and some mushy Mexican rice that could have been much better. The meat itself was definitely the best part of the meal. It also came with a small container of consommé, but it was only lukewarm even though I had driven just 10 minutes away, so the food overall could have been hotter. There was only one hot sauce included, and I didn't care for it at all. I also missed the usual fresh radish slices and the standard red or green salsa options that many birria places provide. The food was packaged nicely, but overall I was expecting better for the price. It came to above $18, which felt overpriced for the quality, especially considering there's no dine-in option. While there was enough meat for two people, I personally would have preferred slightly smaller portions with better overall quality and sides. I've definitely had better birria elsewhere, which is why I'm giving this rating. read more

I've been a fan of Tacos El Goloso in Torrance for a long time, but the other day it was my first rime check out another Tacos El Goloso location. This one is located in San Pedro on Gaffey St. Walking in, this spot had that old school cantina feel. It had cozy, colorful booths, worn in details and an authentic charm. It just felt like the perfect spot to eat some classic tacos. Simple, no frills and straight up classic. I chose to get my Tacos El Goloso go to favorite the Tacos Dorados de Birria. You can get 3 for $11.99, 4 for $14.99 or 5 for $17.99. These tacos always hit the spot. I love the crispy pan fried taco filled with generous tender beef birria. The dipping consommé is perfect and the side salsa is fire! I am happy to say this San Pedro location is just as good as the Torrance location. Compared to the Torrance spot, this one leans slightly more into that old school feel, but the tacos are just as delicious. read more

Not bad Mexican fare, big portions Ordered delivery from this location, food was warm when we got it. Got a selection of tacos, nachos and churros. The tacos were good but leaned heavily on the sauce to bring the heat and the flavor. Proteins were cooked well but unseasoned, which was a shame. The nachos would've been great of everything was separated. Unfortunately that was not the case here and the nachos got welded into a giant cheese mound with toppings and soggy chips. Able to dig out good bites, but was messy. Churros were tasty, a nice sweet treat to finish the meal. Price was not bad for the area. The amount of food you got for the price was very good. Would be hard pressed to be hungry even with their basic fare. If they can separate the nachos toppings before delivery, let the consumer assemble at this location. Also better season this proteins, then this place will be a stellar taco place. As it stands, is good but just missing that little bit extra to make it great read more

Everything from the food to the atmosphere at Tacos El Goloso was spot on. I tried the Tacos Dorados De Birria con queso, which has that perfectly crispy tortilla, to tasting the tender meat rich and seasoned just right. Our server was very attentive making us feel like regulars on our second visit. Great value for the quality--definitely adding this to my weekly rotation! read more

4 stars for Mexican food in Pedro. Prob the best brick and mortar option for sure if you don't want to go to a taco truck or want to dine in. If I don't want to drive out of the city for Mexican I'll come here. Also conveniently right off the gaffey exit from the freeway. Birria is decent. My only complaint is I feel like the water they cook the birria in is tap water... like you can taste it. The one on Anaheim doesn't have the same tap water flavor (that one is the best but there's no parking usually and it's farther out) Salsas are pretty good too and they have a spicy habanero sauce that is actually spicy. read more

This time, I found a hair in my fries, which is absolutely unacceptable and honestly disgusting. To make matters worse, I wasn't informed that they no longer carry fresh guacamole. On top of that, I ordered my food over the phone and was told it would be ready in 5-6 minutes. When I arrived, I still had to wait an additional 20 minutes for my order. I don't know what's going on, but the quality, cleanliness, and service have seriously declined. This place needs major improvement. I will not be returning. I ate here for lunch one day as it's near my work. I got their infamous birria tacos. They were really good! It came with a side of chips and some salsa as well. The salsa was a bit spicy for my liking but the chips were salty, crunchy and delicious! I don't remember the exact price I paid, but I remember it being reasonable, which is always a treat considering the cost of everything these days. (I want to say it was $10-$11). read more

Service: I walked in and ordered my meal to go. I was getting weird vibes from the employee at the time. He kept staring at me awkwardly. Not sure why. I told him to give me a minute as it was my first time. He stared at me the whole time. It was just the most awkward thing. I ended up ordering 3 birria taco combo. Later when I ate my food, yes, it was good but not the best I have had. 3/5. Wish the hot sauce was actually spicy. I just couldn't get over how he was staring me down. Once I picked up my order I asked for hot sauce. He said it's already in the bag and was stern about it. I said, ok, thanks, and again, he just kept staring at me and did not say anything else. Amazing birria and super nice and attentive service. I was in San Pedro for three nights and Tacos El Goloso was the only place we ate. From birria tacos to burritos to cosume everything was very yummy. Their Jamaica drink is also delicious! BIRRIA TACOS !!! Oh my ! Delicious ! They also give you consome(beef broth) when you order regular soft taco. Price is reasonable for the quality of food that you get. They are open pretty late, which is convenient when we want something like this late at night. Definitely recommend this place. I've never eaten here. I've always either ordered from a third-party or ordered to go. The restaurant does look clean and the staff was friendly. read more

TACOS TACOS! Great place to stop by for amazing tacos!! I did go on Tuesday, but didn't see any deals for Taco Tuesday. I went around 6pm & was served fast. There wasn't any line & was able to place my order and leave with my food The ambiance was quiet & nice! They had music playing as well as a couple of TVs with games playing. This establishment has plenty of seating & small-large party friendly! Now for the food!! Tacos Dorados De Birria 10/10: SOOO good. The cheese to meat ratio was perfect. The tacos were crispy & the burrito was cooked BEAUTIFULLY. It was not dry or over cooked The consume did need a bit more flavor in my opinion, but was tasty nonetheless. It does look like a small portion, but my boyfriend ordered 5 tacos & didn't finish the whole consume! Overall, I would definitely visit this taco place again to satisfy my taco cravings! read more

This place does not disappoint! I got the birria nachos and boy were they delicious! It comes with a side of consumé, extra chips and some salsa. I was so full after that I needed a nap! I went to the new location on Gaffey, but have gone to the first spot on Anaheim. Both really great locations. I can see the parking getting tight during peak times and it can be a little tough to get out because of the one entrance/exit, but once inside make your self at home! The staff is fantastic! My requests were answered swiftly and with a smile! I will definitely be coming back! Either to try the flautas or tacos, which also sounded delicious! read more

So... I'm not a one visit kinda review guy unless, it's 1), horribly bad or 2), ridiculously good. This joint it so, SO close to the latter, so I bit my proverbial tongue and held out until I had a larger dataset. That said, this place is serving up what I'll call the most flavorful, delicious, mouthwatering birria in the South Bay. First visit I have to assume was an anomaly as there was only one other patron (not to be confused with Patron) in the place. I'm sure timing had a big part to play in that. Next was more of what I expected... lunchtime hysteria, multiple peeps and a staff that kicked a$$ like a horny donkey. I wanted a carne asada plate but was told, "only birria plates are available". No biggie as that is what my wifey wanted anyway. I just wanted to deviate slightly. So I went along with my beautiful wife's choice. On the side, I ordered a quesadilla for my grandson as well. Let's just say... the rice is nice (I'm a poet and don't know it), the quesadilla has more cheese than the state of Wisconsin, and the birria is just flat out mouthwatering... If you want the carne asada, pollo etc., you have to order in a burrito. I can hardly wait to get back and do just that. Guac kicks booty and the rice / beans are yum, yum, yum. Update to follow. Consistent good food. Everything I have ordered is very flavorful. The birria tacos are so good and the consommé is extremely flavorful. The prices are very reasonable and the $0 delivery fee with 3rd party deliveries is genius. I refuse to order 3rd party because of all the extra associated fees. The owners are the nicest of people as well. You can see it trickle down to their staff. It's nice to see their business doing well with the number of locations they have. Good stuff! read more

Stopped in the area for a quick bite. I ordered 3 carne asada street tacos with onions & cilantro. The order process was quick since there wasn't anyone but a couple sitting in the place. It took roughly 4 minutes for me to get my tacos. It was really quick. I'd give the tacos 4/5. They satisfied my want for street tacos although the meat seemed a little dry. However, they did give me chips and the stuff that comes with birria, so eating the tacos with that was good! The ambiance was very casual. It looked cleaned in the restaurant and the bathrooms were also clean. I would come back here again if no other place was open to eat. read more

First, their tacos de birria are delicious. And they are fast on their deliveries. The low score is because I ordered a vampiro. It was in no way a vampiro. They should take it off the menu. It's just a tostada with all the ingredients and another tostada on top of it. -1 I asked for carnitas and they were delicious carnitas but I uncovered it more and they included the snout. I don't know if this was for a late night laugh but yuk I lost my appetite and gave it to my dog. -2 The -3 star was because I had to take a picture of the snout with all It's pores to add to yelp. read more

The counter service was friendly. The restaurant was clean. And the food was fine. There was nothing wrong with the food, but it just didn't inspire me to want to come back or even try another location, though there are several here in the South Bay. Everything *looked* so flavorful, but overall, everything tasted rather plain and boring unless you added salsa that comes on the side - and I don't think that's how it should be - food needs to be flavorful on its own and the side salsa is an optional add. IMO - if the food NEEDS the salsa to have any taste, the salsa should just be integrated into the dish as a core component. Tacos Dorados de Birria - 3 tacos - very nice portion size, everything was cooked well, lots of meat., crunchy tacos. Great size portion of consomme on the side. Just plain. The Tacos Dorados de Papa - 3 tacos. Nice portion size, lots of potato. Liked that the lettuce was on the side - helped keep the tacos crispy. The Birria Plate - good portion size, plenty of meat, rice, beans, and consomme; but plain. Carne Asada Burrito - great size, plenty of filling, but alas, plain. Street Tacos: Birria, Pastor, and Carnitas - each one had lots of meat, definitely a good value, but again, everything tasted plain. The Pineapple Agua Fresca was very refreshing. The Horchata was very sweet. The guacamole was probably my favorite item with the crunchy chips. read more

This was my second visit to this particular location. The one in Carson is better IMO. Parking is a pain. You have to be traveling south to get into the parking lot. Then you have to make a sharp turn and hope no one is behind you when you do it. Also it's a sketching area and now your car is out of view while you're inside. Or you and yours are out of view while you get into or out of your car. The restaurant itself was very clean. Anyhow I couldn't really tell you why I came back to this place except I had a craving for birria tacos. I ordered the 4 birria tacos and the chicken flautas (taquitos) . The birria wasn't bad, but I've had better. The consome was blah. Nothing to write home about on that either. That flautas were a little small and had absolutely no taste to them, plus they were dry. I would not order that again. I gave 3 stars because ....well to tell you the truth, I don't know why I gave 3 stars; other than the cashier girl made me laugh and was nice. And the birria wasn't bad it's not 5 star but it's not 2 star either. I probably won't come back to this location. I'll drive to Carson next time. This meal cost $27.00 and some change. Too much IMO. read more

I went here on a recommendation on Reddit's r/SanPedro page, and I'm glad I went. The kind redditor…read moresuggested the tacos, so I ordered 3 chicken tacos with a side of beans and rice. There were a few things that really stood out and made me very happy that I gave it a try. First, the red sauce in the salsa bar: very legit! Spicy, but very flavorful! I also tried the green chili/tomatillo sauce, which was also very good and good counter point to the unctuous marinated chicken. And they don't go cheap on the meat. Secondly, the corn tortillas were made in house and were hefty! Very tasty and held together where other tacos need two of the thin store-bought variety to have a hope to stand together. Very good. If I had the tiniest critique, I would say to add a tiny bit more salt to them, but I have a theory why they may go scant on it, and I respect that. Third, the beans and rice: The beans were very simple, but simply good. It takes a lot of guts to make and serve simple pinto beans boiled with salt. I know! What a concept! But simply delicious, and made to complement the rest of the food, and not distract from it. It takes a lot of confidence in my opinion for a restaurant to have such faith in their food to leave some that should be simple, simple. The same was true for the rice: simply well made, not over done with a ton of ingredients. It was well made: the individual grains didn't stick together. And it was unctuous without being overbearing. If I had to guess, I would say that they used broth and chicken fat. Simply good, and a complement to rest of the meal. Now to my theory.
