Came here for the first time since this place came across my TikTok. The moment I parked my car I noticed there were many customer's arriving. I had very high hope's that this burrito would be delicious. I ordered 2 burritos. (One asada, one al pastor) Burritos weren't flavorful, carne asada was burnt. The beans tasted like canned beans. Have gotten the burritos here, The Oso is ok, but my coworkers (who are wilmington natives) hyped it up big time, and it was eh. I have noticed the burritos are getting smaller and more expensive each time I go pick them up for my guys. I picked up Menudo here for my crew on a Saturday, go before 6 am because there's a line. Includes the normal fixings like onion n cilantro along with the protein of choice and salsa. These tacos also have beans and cabbage. Makes the taco heartier which I love. This little spot is absolutely amazing! I was told about this place some years ago but I haven't had a chance to visit it. From what I told, it gets very crowded. I went on a Friday morning around 7ish and there wasn't a single person in line! I was like "jackpot", I went up to the window and ordered three burritos to go. The surrounding area was very quiet and calm. The young lady at the window was very friendly and helpful because I missed the order on one of the burritos and she was quick to tell the cook to make the correction for me! So this is a hole in the wall breakfast burrito place, I say breakfast because normally all the locals, local businesses go and buy for breakfast. Chile verde is fire if you can handle heat this is the way to go with a lemonade, also oso burrito is you can't go wrong. But let me tell u about the outside of this place it across the street from a school and it's next door to a house and they be selling stuff in they parking lot and garage and around the corner they was having a party and fixing cars I was like omg what the hell going on and the parking is crazy around there . I came here a couple days ago. I ordered a carne asada burrito with everything and a chile verde burrito. Also a lemonade which I asked if it was agua fresca (she said yes) and it was not it was literally like a green sunny D, disgusting and $4. The burritos are $10 each which isn't a bad price. My bf said the asada burrito was very homemade and that it wasn't bad but also nothing special I'll take it lol. I've never seen anyone put cabbage in burritos but hey it works I guess. As for my chile verde burrito, HOLY FUCK. It was spiCYYYYYY. And no I'm not a cry baby about spice I love spicy and I can tolerate it very well except this time. I kid you not I was tearing, runny nose and couldn't feel my lips lol. The customer service was regular not top notch not bad just decent. But pls put a warning about the spice in your chile verde if it's always this spicy lol. I couldn't even admire the taste all I tasted was chile. And what meat is it? Beef? Because it was brown and tough. I'm used to eating pork in chile verde but this meat was so big and nasty looking. I won't go there again but my bf probably will since he liked the asada burrito. The menu is pretty straightforward with burritos, tacos, tortas and a few sides. They are known for their Oso burrito, which has a little bit of everything. I played it safe since this was my first time and ordered the carne asada burrito. It comes with meat, beans, onions, cabbage and red sauce. I added cheese. The burrito was nice size with a floury tortilla. The meat and other ingredients were seasoned well, however I did get a couple of fatty pieces of meat. They have a few other varieties but I don't ask what they are, since the 2 types I get are so great, Yes, there are a few chewy, gristly pieces in the carne asada. Not sure what changed in the last few months but the cooks at Montoya's are being sloppy with the meat. The last three burritos I purchased are filled with huge chewy pieces of meat. They're using a cheap cut of meat (probably chuck) that is really tough. They're calling it "asada" on the menu but it's DEFINATELY not asada. I wrote a review some time ago about the chile verde burrito not being great, I stand on that... but I recently tried their chorizo and bean burrito and they have the best freaking Chorizo I've had in a while... My dad says they sell it outside the shop... I haven't been yet but I'll check it out again someday. I think it's the same chorizo we used to get from my Dad's friend (he used to seek it out of his backyard here and in Tangancicuaro, Michoacán... if I'm right this is the only place I will buy chorizo from nobody else has the recipe I've tried a lot lol read more

The chili Verde was dry it appeared to be over cooked. There was very little meat in the burrito which was overcompensated with pinto beans. I don't know Wilmas but I have coworkers from Wilmas and they say Montoya's has the best carne asada burritos. I agree! I ventured deep into Wilmington in search of their Bear (OSO) burritos and was highly satisfied with the OSO burrito's taste and price ($6.50). The OSO leans on the tradition carne asada burrito but Montoya's adds an egg and avocados to the burrito. Be careful of the salsa as well, it has a nice kick. If you can't take the heat, ask for salsa on the side. The burrito wasn't dry and the beef and ingredients were delicious! I made it in for lunch before the crowds started to line up. They open early and close early as well (600-1500). Cash only, street parking, drive slow as Montoya's is in a residential neighbor. Montoya's has knocked off the other place for my favorite burrito, Montoya's is also a lot cheaper than the other place down the street in Wilmas. Can't wait to come back! read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! I live in down town Long Beach but I drive to Montoya's for that OSO Burrito it is delicious! I give that a 10/10 My only issue is a few times I've made the drive and they were closed, yet their hours say they are open til 3 so I had to drive back home more then twice this had happened.
