    Taquitos

Awesome Taquitos and Pupusas. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small mom and pop Mexican place in San Pedro.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice and clean, good service and excellent food at reasonable prices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The taquitos were huge and the chicken had excellent flavor. Pupusa was also big and the pork rind gave it more depth. Will be back to try more things.

I ordered a regular passionfruit agua fresca, a chicharron pupusa, one asada taco, and one pastor taco. The agua fresca was refreshing and not overly sweet, a great balance with the food. The chicharron pupusa was thick and filling with a crispy outside and flavorful filling. The asada taco had a good char and solid seasoning, while the pastor taco was juicy with that slightly sweet, spiced flavor that stands out. All the salsas I got were very good too as Everything came out fresh and well prepared. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was quick and the vibe was casual and relaxed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend.

Everybody's workin' for the weekend Everybody wants a new romance Everybody's goin' off the deep end Everybody needs a second chance... We ordered pupusas for the kids and the malomas with chicken. The pupusas were really good the kids devoured them. The cortido was okay. The mamalona was nothing memorable the chicken tasted very dry. Agua de Jamaica was good and refreshing the large was big enough for all to enjoy. Street parking is right in front or there is a paid parking lot behind the restaurant. Both were full so we parked on a side street. The place is spacious with a lot of seating. Bathroom is small, no changing table in the men's. The order too a bit longer than expected, even though there wasn't anyome else waiting for an order. If you're in the mood for some pupusas stop by Jeff's. May need to give them a second chance as the song says next time I'm in town. God bless

This hole in the wall spot is easy to miss if you're cruising in San Pedro. That being said, we decided to stop by to try it. I do think it's unique that the complimentary appetizer is the pinwheel chips with tapatio. Also I like the traditional chips and salsa, this was pretty good I had the pupusa and it was one of the best pupusas I've had. Granted I'm not an expert on Pupusas, it was definitely better than others that I've had. The texture perfect in it being soft with just a little crunch to it. The cheese and chicharron flavor was on point! I also had the asada and Cameron taco. The shrimp was okay, but I did enjoy the asada quite a bit. Overall, the tacos were good, not amazing. But the pupusa definitely makes up for it. If you're in the area, definitely come and get some food!

Stopped by just off the reviews and everything was amazing! Easily a 10/10 spot. The food was delicious, the service was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to San Pedro!

Food is amazing! Portions are huge. Owner is really nice and very welcoming! This place is a must try! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very spacious for dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Protein papi burrito

I was in town exploring this cute little town (?arts district) in San Pedro and loving all the little new stores and coffee shops. I came across this restaurant for a quick bite. It seems to be fairly new. The tables and layout say so. They use those foldable tables you would find for a picnic. Anyways, I was greeted by a young man who was super friendly and enthusiastic about what I'm craving and what he'd recommend. I ordered the protein papi burrito which has carne asada, eggs, onion and cilantro. It was so darn delicious!! I ordered an horcahta and again, amazing flavor. It tastes home made, which i believe it is. They serve the chips with chile y limon (so if you like the chicharroncitos dry, tell them. I love it with it) The creamy green salsa, Jefe salsa, incredible flavor. Wow. I Hella poured it on my burrito. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only flaw would be how hot it was inside. Musty. Would like it if they turned on the AC.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Otherwise, I'd come back and will be bringing more folks.

    Asada and al pastor tacos

Jefe's Cocina is the BOMB!! Was recommend to come here by a local and I'm so glad I did. Their food is absolutely phenomenal and by far some of the best Mexican food I've had, period. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe inside is fun, they play music, and there's a nice aesthetic with the art on the walls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The girls at the front were super helpful and friendly, plus it just so happened to be the first day for one of them and she did great. I ordered two tacos and a set of three taquitos; in hindsight, my eyes were bigger than my stomach because this was a LOT of food. Their salsa bar is one par with some of the best I've seen in terms of quality and variety of options: the salsa options were spicy and tasty, they had free guac, and there was plenty of veggies and peppers to choose from. The tacos came out first and I fell in love at first bite. The tortilla had the perfect crunch while also remaining soft and the meat was cooked perfectly (both al pastor and asada). I dressed them up with onions, cilantro, guac, and salsa and my tastebuds were in heaven! Then, after I crushed the two tacos, they sent out this massive plate of 3 taquitos that were dressed up with sauce and lettuce. Those too, were DELICIOUS! The shredded chicken blend inside was so flavorful and the texture of the taquitos was on point. This place checked every single box for me and more, I was so incredibly impressed with this place that I'm still thinking about it and can't wait to go back. I'd highly recommend you give this place a shot, whether you're a local or you're traveling from Orange County/Los Angeles as it's worth the trip!!

Fresh guac, flavorful burritos and great service - Jefe Cocina in San Pedro did not disappoint. We enjoyed the asada burrito and shrimp burrito and can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu. We were hungry and didn't snap a pic of the huge burritos. lol

    Complementary chips!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking by and decided to try this place out. I walked in to some good music playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered three tacos (pastor, pollo and asada). They were about $3.25 each. While seated, I was given a tray of chips that I was not expecting. It was tasty and a nice touch. The meats were flavorful and did not disappoint. A must try!

My friends and I had plans to go to ZAMA and found out it was closed so we had to find a new place…read more We ended up here just based off the pictures. Let's start with the margarita I got, I did not taste any alcohol in it (and I cannot have strong drinks! So that can tell you a lot) not worth $18. We basically paid for an expensive agua fresca! Then I ordered the carne asada skewers. The first bite was okay, not very flavorful, but I thought I could just finish it. As I go through the meat, I notice so much fat and very little meat. I grab another piece and bite into it, I start chewing and realize that it tasted like raw meat (with a hint taste of raw meat that spent too much time in the fridge) I immediately got nauseous and spit it out on a napkin. I told our server and he asked me what else I would like. I then ordered the fish tacos, he brought it out in less than 5 minutes (kind of fast if you ask me) I try a small piece of the fish and it wasn't bad, I give a piece to my friend and she only got fat. Why is there fat in my fish tacos! I tried to pick through it so I could atleast get full, but I couldn't do it. The server came to pick up our plates and asked me if I didn't like the tacos, I said no but that's okay don't worry about it. I was so disappointed because I was starving. My friend ordered the rib eye tacos and had to pick through it too because most of it was fat. The only good thing that happened was that our server did not charge me for the two plates that I didn't eat. We thanked him, paid the check and left. Unfortunately, this was not the best food and we were excited to eat and celebrate my birthday.

We had a 12:30PM reservation for their Mother's Day "Mariachi Brunch". The restaurant called us the…read moreday before to suggest we move it to catch the full mariachi set. We changed our plans to 12pm. That's where things started going wrong in ways we couldn't have predicted. There was a huge line outside. All reservation holders, all waiting, none being told anything useful. We stood there for over an hour. This restaurant enforces a 90-minute table limit, so the only way reservations run 60 minutes behind is if you sold more tables than you have. When they finally seated us, they walked us to the very back of the restaurant to plastic folding picnic tables and plastic chairs. The furthest possible seats, out of sight from the mariachi stage. Then we asked for the brunch menu. The server looked surprised, "We're out of the brunch menu. Everyone ordered the same thing." You promoted a brunch, and everyone ordered brunch? Shocking lol. We had to order off the regular menu instead. Our reservation was at 12pm, we sat down at 1:05pm and I finally got my meal at 1:30pm. There were several mistakes to our orders. One person at our table got the grilled shrimp. They served it raw and he sent it back. He ended up not eating and left without a meal. One of the staff was telling frustrated customers that this is simply what you should expect on Mother's Day. No accountability. Just the excuse that wanting a functional experience on a holiday is your fault for going out. This made it worse. And the mariachi? They stopped playing five minutes after we finally sat down. The same guy who told us this to lower our standards told us the band was on a 15-minute break. That break lasted 50 minutes. They came back to play right as our plates were being cleared away. Remember, we were seated in the very back, nowhere near the stage. The band finally made their way toward us just as we were asking for the check. They comped a few items and brought complimentary dessert. It didn't matter by then. This is a bar and lounge that decided to become a holiday brunch venue for one day. The grandmothers in that line didn't come for the lounge atmosphere. They came for the brunch and the mariachi -- the two things this restaurant completely failed to deliver. But I'd bet the staff is somewhere high-fiving each other for surviving a busy shift, convinced we all got exactly the Mother's Day we deserved for daring to go out. We still spend $300. We fell for the trap. And the portions were not large enough, so we went down the street to an Irish pub after and ate some appetizers to make up for it. Better to stick with family restaurants that have experience with special occasions.

It was open seating when we arrived which majority of the tables was taken where all the television were. The main dining area had a television set up but main bar area was where the action was taking place. We got lucky as there was a table available along the wall with perfect view of the game. Of course it was rain delayed so more time to enjoy food and drinks. Also it was happy hour and taco Tuesday all at the same time. As the game was happening, one of the tequila sponsors was there offering deals. Shot and a jersey. Tony took care of us that night and he was amazing. Made sure that we got everything we needed. Very sweet as well. Happy hour menu offered a good amount of items for a great deal. As well as draft beer and cocktails. Regular menu is great as well which we've had before. Food, an order of the tostada both with shrimp and aguachili. Served with two small tostada and handful of crevice on top. Both were quite tasty and very well flavored in the juice. Also two of the street tacos with birria. They were quite small but did have a major punch of flavor to it. And well priced at 2.50 a piece. Of course the crinkle cut loaded fries with added carne asada. Seemed like it was a popular item as every table had it. It was good but a little skimpy with the topping. Lastly the chicken wings, lemon pepper flavor. Six piece tossed in the sauce. It was good but way too salty for my liking. We still enjoyed everything we had. As we got the shot with the jersey earlier, the person who was affiliated with the sponsor brand was walking around with more shot. I must say, it does hit the spot big time...lol... The crowd was lively with everyone all there for the same reason. The game and good company. First time for happy hour and it was nice. We had a great time and everyone working was the sweetest. And Tony was amazing. Took very good care of us.

The decor and ambiance make it a great place for celebrating a special occasion. I made reservations for my birthday dinner with a party of eight. I brought my own cake, and the staff was kind enough to store it in their refrigerator until we were ready for dessert, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the service was where the experience fell apart. Since gratuity is automatically added for larger parties, it felt like there was very little sense of urgency or attentiveness throughout the evening. It took quite a while for our drink orders to be taken and served. Our food also came out at different times, with some side dishes arriving well after the entrées had already been served. The only explanation we received came later when a supervisor personally brought out the missing sides and apologized, explaining there had been a delay because they had to prepare a fresh batch of rice. While I appreciated the communication, it would have been helpful if someone had updated us sooner. During the meal, our server was changed, and we hoped the service would improve, but unfortunately, the experience remained the same. The food and drinks were beautifully presented, but the flavors didn't quite live up to how impressive everything looked. My rating is based primarily on the food, but if I were rating the service alone, it would be one star. Considering it was a Sunday and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, the slow service was especially disappointing. Sadly, this wasn't the birthday dinner experience I was hoping for, and I don't plan on returning.
