Left a sports tournament at the SportsHouse late on a Saturday and happy to make our way to Tacos El Grullense E&E which is open late. The menu may not include a lot of options, but we found the carnitas and cabeza super burritos to include excellent flour tortillas and plentiful fillings that tasted fresh and flavorful. The asada sopes had a crispy base which was a great vehicle for the asada, lettuce, sour cream and other toppings. As others have noted, there really isn't anywhere to eat, so we chowed down in our car in their small parking lot. Given how dark it was, we unfortunately didn't get any good food pics. Prices were also very reasonable, and service was really friendly. We would recommend giving it a try! read more

I really love this taco spot and usually come here for their burritos and sopes because the food is always good. But today my experience was disappointing because the teamwork and customer service were not great. When I went to order, the lady at the front was on the phone and kept ignoring me when I asked multiple times for sauce on the side. Later, she made my food but added red sauce inside even though I asked for it on the side. When I checked and told her, she was rude about it and instead of remaking it properly or at least heating it up, she just gave me the meat cold. On top of that, I had asked for al pastor and she gave me asada. I like the food here, but they really need to improve communication and customer service. read more

El Grullense is the spot for tacos in the Bay Area! Super easy to pick up to-go or eat at the gas station lot. This location was quick and convenient! I ordered 4 different tacos and they were incredible. My favorite was the steak and carnitas! First off, the price is great and they load up the tacos with meat and extra pickled vegetables. There are many locations for a reason! I would definitely come back to try a burrito next time. Ps. Careful when eating there because the birds are waiting to pick up your crumbs. read more

There are sooo many El Grullense taqueria. This one is my Fav. The flavors are just so different. Sopes were great, the masa was on point. The tacos carne de Lengua/asada were Delicious!!!! This specific location is a hidden gem amongst the many other Tacos El Grullense in the Bay Area. The food here is the most authentic Mexican food I have ever tasted outside of Mexico itself. The food is also extremely reasonably priced. The service here is amazing, they give you whatever you need as long as you are polite. The ambiance here is unmatched, never have I ever seen a restaurant within a gas station, and if I ever do there's no chance it matches up to this place. (6/5 stars) read more

Insanely flavorful tacos. They have a kick of spice and are thoughtfully marinated. Not sure what they put in the tortillas but they were super fragrant and one of the most memorable parts of the tacos. Walked up to the counter and noticed everyone was on their phones .one of the "cooks" saw me waiting and ignored me to be back on her phone . They are not clean , the cashier lady handling money didn't wash her hands and was helping plating an order . none of the employees even bother to wash their hands or even put gloves on. I live nearby so I've been coming to this place for years. Since they were shut down, due to the adjacent store catching on fire, they haven't been the same so I would come here less frequently but I would still stop by from time to time. The meat selection has good flavor, I typically get the pastor and lengua which the flavor hasn't changed and is consistently the same. The tacos here, since reopening though, are noticeably dry and they never have pickled carrots/jalapeños (I guess they always seem to run out by the evening). As of today, however, the tacos are pretty mediocre. While the flavor of the meat is good, the tortillas are still very dry and so much smaller than before. A little disappointed that again they had no carrots/ jalapeños tonight and that the size of the tacos are soooo small now. This place used to be filling and cheap. Not sure when they made the size change in tortillas but this is what they are serving now. Most likely will not be coming here any more. read more

I haven't been here in at least five years and I remember their burrito blew me away. I was back in the area for a bit so I stopped by and got a carnitas super burrito and an al pastor taco. Taco was really good! The al pastor was so flavorful and while the salsa was on the verge of too spicy for me, it added great dimension to the taco and I got through it, inhaling with my tongue between my teeth until the numbness subsided :) The burrito was packed with a lot of meat, but it was a bit on the dry side. Maybe it's because I asked for no beans. I expected some salsa or crema, but it was still pretty good. Something strange to me was that two big tomato slices appeared at the bottom half. I have never had slices of tomato in a burrito and they effectively slid out when I bit into that section. Wasn't expecting iceberg lettuce in it either. I somehow remember these burritos much better, but it was still pretty good overall. I'd go back for the tacos :) read more

I was in need of some cheap, late night grub after going to Ikea in EPA and stumbled upon Tacos El Grullense! And yes, its located at a gas station. Cash only, curt service but hella good tacos. They are $2.10 a taco and I have tried the Carne Asada and Lengua. Their chipotle salsa they put on the tacos is soooo good! And they put some of the pickled veggies and lemons on top. Come support this place, its some of the most legit simple Mexican fare I've had. No frills, all yums! read more

We tried the Asada (steak) and pastor (pork) tacos and both were great. The pastor had a little more flavor. Get it with everything on it - onion, cilantro, and salsa.
