I was on the hunt for great barbacoa beef tacos in Redwood City's "Little Mexico" and was pointed here--specifically for the handmade tortillas! I ordered two barbacoa tacos, and my daughter got the quesabirrias. Seriously blown away! The meat was incredibly soft and tender, and the tacos were huge and packed with flavor. This is officially my new favorite spot for authentic Michoacán Mexican food. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

Straight forward, basic, and legit taqueria. Ordered tacos and for some reason assumed they would be street taco size. As the tortillas so fresh, I didn't mind eating 3 though I would have been fine with two. Everything others were ordering looked great. I will definitely add this to my lunch rotation.

Always amazing! This place never disappoint me. The food menu varies depending on the special of the day.

Wow El Paisano changed ownership...I just found out on the weekend. Great news, the food still the same, amazing home cooked meals. The new owners were friendly and looks like they are keeping everything the same so far! I wish them well, and as long as the food still delicious I will keep on coming!

This is taco heaven! Their tacos are absolutely tasty! My sister introduced me to this hole-in-the-wall in the heart of Little Mex (this specific side of Middlefield in Redwood City.) I ordered two beef tacos with mild sauce and everything on it. The tortillas were warm and soft. The meat was moist and extremely flavorful. They put in the mild sauce, diced onions and cilantro. They added some extra mild sauce and limes on the side. Did I mention they don't skimp on the meat like some of the other taco spots I've been to. Well, they don't. You might be wondering, 'why only two tacos?' These tacos are huge! Two tacos are equivalent to four small tacos. If you want amazing authentic tacos, head over to El Paisano! You won't regret it.

I usually order Pozole, but that dish is only during the winter time. So I ordered a cup of tortilla soup! The chicken was fresh and delicious, and the broth was so good I drank it all. The salsa trio is always my favorite appetizer because of the spicy mango salsa! I finish it every time. I also got the Plátanos cubanos, but I got the toppings on the side so I could enjoy their plantains by themselves. As an appetizer, snack, meal, or dessert, plantains are the best. I ordered a side of rice with my steak tacos too, and I have to say this rice is the most similar to the type my mom makes at home. Not too tomatoey, but perfectly moist and tasty. I opted out of getting a cocktail today, so I got a mocktail. I was craving agua de jamaica, which they didn't directly have, but this "zero proof" cocktail hit the spot ;) As for the steak tacos, the steak was a little too chewy for my liking, but that's because I usually get my steak well done (I know, don't judge). Thank you Milagros for always being the best spot for a comforting meal!

The biggest disappointment however was when I looked at my receipt. In addition to taxes and tipping, I was another charged 3.5% for "state mandate." I inquired and was told that since the restaurant has to provide medical insurance, their employees they charge customers for that now. It's just so shady that this is not disclosed ahead of time or at least no obvious and it's only if you look at your receipt, do you see you're being charged this additional fee. Word for the wise it is optional despite the mandatory language on the receipt, so I encourage everyone to refuse to pay. You are not the one employing the employees, the employer is.

When you walk in, you place your order directly with the cashier. If dining in, they will provide you with a basket of chips and you choose from an open table. The booths are a bit cramped with no space at all between yourself and the table but comfortable enough otherwise. There is a self service salsa bar in the corner - we really liked the creamy green salsa. Had just a slight kick but my 3 and 5 year old both loved it. I got a taco salad which is served in a taco bowl with all the ingredients of a super burrito, minus rice and cheese. It was very good, but the bottom of the shell gets really soggy so you can really just eat the top of the shell where it's still crispy. The rest of the family got super burritos and were very happy - the meat was crispy in some parts and moist/soft in other parts and the ratio of the other ingredients were perfect to complement the protein. Everyone left full and happy. Don't forget to get a sweet, cool, refreshing horchata drink to help wash down your meal!

Food- not good they have all the ingredients, but would it kill them to season their food. A little salt maybe while your cook. I had the torta con papas. Carne asada was not seasoned, it was just meat, avocado, tomato and lettuce, once I added salt, jalapeños and a little salsa it actually tasted like something. In all honesty I can't go back nor would I recommend it to my friends and if your Mexican and you like it que vergüenza. One star because they have free refills.

I'm an al pastor burrito guy and this one was way too heavy on the spice/seasoning and kinda overpowered everything. Also there was barely any trace of tater tots which I was really looking forward to. My daughters ate the asada and said it was just ok. One thing is that the burritos are smaller than your super at El Farolito but they do pack it in there and it's pretty filling! The birria was actually pretty good and they gave a couple different sauces and cabbage and I would recommend it. I was also looking forward to eating the churro donuts on the drive back home because I thought they would be hot n good but that wasn't the case. They musta pulled them out from under a warming lamp because they were barely lukewarm to cold so that was a fail. Overall, it's not bad, but definitely pricier than most of the other popular Mex spots and now that I think about it, I probably won't go back because of it. There's plenty good Mex around for a lot less $$. I coulda gotten 3 super burritos from Farolito for $35 vs ~$75 that I paid at Suavecito.
