Let me tell you, first and foremost, Los Carnalitos is anything but "just another taco truck." No way! This is literally the best hidden gem off the El Camino Real. Truly! I have experienced many a taco spot... and nothing compares to the utter freshness, flavor and bang-for-your-buck type of value that is offered here. Due to the Lenten season, my hubs and I were looking for a place that offered seafood tacos and this place was rumored to be the best. After stopping by on our way out of town recently, we knew instantly this was true. The aguas frescas are served iced cold and 100% fresh. My agua de guayaba and my hubs' agua de tamarindo were absolutely to die for. You could absolutely taste the fresh fruit for each. Now for the best part. On Friday's they have a special: $5 fish tacos with tortillas made fresh and by hand... complete with all the fixings. The fish is hand battered, made to order and served piping hot, dressed with cabbage, pico de gallo, and a combination of mayo and chipotle aioli. The picture simply doesn't do it justice, folks. Hands down, the best fish tacos in the area. 100/10. The team aboard this truck are friendly, quick and serve every dish up with a smile. Truly elevating the unique experience. While I was only lucky enough to stop for fish tacos, I look forward to future trips to Los Carnalitos for a sampling of their many menu options, especially the fried banana for dessert!! Finally got here to get some amazing Mexican food. Had the chicken quesadilla and it was really outstanding. As others have mentioned, it seems they make their own tortillas, including flour tortillas. The mix of chicken, queso, onion, and cilantro was just right. Their homemade salsa is really tasty. Big portions. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity. We are very lucky in Redwood City to have so many excellent taquerias and food trucks. One of my favorite places but.... we usually order our food to eat there. This time I asked for it to go. I happened to check the bag and no hot salsas were added so I asked the lady for some. Please check your bag before leaving,! Not sure if they are trying to save... I was so hungry that I decided to eat my Torta in the car immediately, to my surprise the torta barely had any cheese, the meat was in tiny little pieces and dry:/ the bread was not toasted as usual so it was not warm or taste the same! Having lived in San Diego for almost two years, my husband is always looking for good tacos. Truthfully, they don't exist any further north than SD, but one can always hope. As far as places we've tried in the Bay Area, Los Carnalitos is one of the better ones in terms of quality and value. It's a food truck parked next to a parking lot, so there's no seating. My husband ordered the lengua, suadero, and pastor tacos, for $3.50-$4 each. He thought they were fine, but didn't scratch the itch. I ordered a veggie taco that was definitely my favorite of the ones we've tried in the Bay. Most places here will just give you rice and beans, or maybe some grilled bell peppers, and sell it to you for $5-7 dollars -- total rip offs. Veggie options shouldn't be afterthoughts (but they usually are), and I'm glad that Los Carnalitos puts in the effort to offer an actual dish. The veggie tacos come with nopales, squash blossoms, mushrooms, and huitlacoche. The only thing missing was some grilled cheese and a bit more seasoning, but I honestly would still give these a 4/5 for the ingredients and the cost. read more

Ordered a super al pastor burrito and it was very underwhelming. I live about 10 minutes away but when I got home I was surprised to find that my burrito was really cold when I got home. Not room temperature but COLD. Also the burrito was a lot smaller than other burritos in the area for the same price. Decided to come here on a Monday during lunch since it was relatively close to work. The truck is located right next to a lot, making it easy to find and making the parking process a lot easier. There was only one other customer in front of us when we got there at around 12:45 PM. I ordered two asada beef tacos and one pastor pork taco. My coworkers' and my orders were all ready really quickly! It might be important to note that there's not really any seating near the truck -- we just sat down on the sidewalk and ate there. The taco meat options were all really tender and well seasoned! I love how loaded the tacos were with meat, cilantro, onions, and even cucumber on the side -- such a killer for under $4. I loved the flour tortilla a lot, as well as the sauce provided. I will say though, that as a relatively slow eater, the inner pieces of my taco did break through the two tortillas, but not a huge deal breaker at all. Regardless, the flavors complimented each other really well, and these tacos were definitely one of the greatest I've had in the Bay Area. A lonchera with good food, fast service, and good portions. We stumbled across them when looking for tacos and they did not disappoint. They had a mini trompo for the al pastor inside which was full of flavor. The carnitas taco was also very good and could have been easily 2 tacos rather than 1. It looks like they have rotating specials and the alambre for the price is a bargain. It came with enough tortillas to do multiple tacos and still have left overs for another lunch. So thankful to have their truck nearby my office! Ever since my experience at the Hayward location, I knew I'd be back again. I came with some co workers and I enjoyed my Gordita with chicharron! This is phenomenal; all the ingredients just came together perfectly. The chicharron was creamy and it reminded me of having a papusa. I wasn't a fan of their tinga quesadilla which is their shredded chicken soaked in this red tomato sauce. This tasted like a soaked enchilada rather; I wouldn't order this again. The folks after me got huarache sencillo which looked amazing. I expected it would be problematic to be around the corner from the gaggle of Planned Parenthood protesters who are out 24/7, but I barely noticed them. I thought there might be a chair or two to eat in, but there weren't any. I ate standing at the shelf on the side of the truck. I enjoyed my order so much I didn't care. So this review is only for the tacos which is all I tried. Me and wife drove an hour to try this place after a recommendation. I will say it was worth the drive. I got two carne asada tacos and two carnitas tacos with a horchata to wash it down. The carne asada tacos were the best I've had outside Yuma AZ. And fyi Yuma does have the best tacos. Not sure how this food truck is associated with La Fonda, but it is. I was super excited to see items like nopales (cactus) and huitlacoche (corn smut) on the menu. We ordered al pastor tacos ($2.75 each), veggie tacos ($3.75 each), and an azteca huarache - basically a massive open-face taco ($13). The tortillas weren't as good as La Fonda, but it still hit the spot for me. The truck is parked right outside the Planned Parenthood clinic. Unfortunately, there were quite a few protesters, but luckily they were a good 20-30ft away from the truck. My main complaint is that the prices I was charged didn't match the prices listed on the truck. Only the al pastor taco was the correct amount. The cashier tacked on an extra $0.75 for the veggie taco and $1 for the huarache. I don't mind paying extra, but at least let me know beforehand?! I'll probably just stick to La Fonda. At least I know the quality of the tortillas are better at the restaurant and I'll be charged accurately. read more

Delicious and flavorful! Got the asada regular burrito and it was such a big portion! They definitely don't shy away from putting a hefty amount of meat which is great! 2/13/21- Came back for another delicious round of tacos! Was still impressed with the quality of food at Los Carnalitos. There was a big crowd at lunch so expect a wait but the food is worth it! -Al Pastor (roasted pork) tacos- My favorite! The pork is tender, chewy, and smoky. The pineapple pieces added was also perfection. You get a nice savory aroma with each bite but the sweet note from the pineapple gave the taco a delicious burst of flavor. Highly recommend. -Asada (beef) tacos- The beef was also smoky in flavor but the texture was a bit more tough compared to the roasted pork. This was still delicious and I would also recommend it! The meat is more chewy than the pork so depending on how you like your tacos, you may or may not want to go with the asada. -Lengua (tongue)- I decided to be a little adventurous and try the lengua taco! The texture was pretty interesting. It was quite mushy and felt like a very tender pot roast. The flavor was still great but I prefer my tacos to have a little more chew. This was a little too soft for me but I'm glad I tried it! -Price/value- Tacos were $2.50 each and they were pretty loaded with meat, onions, and cilantro! Delicious! I tried the Torta de la Casa and Gordita. Both were so yummy, but I think I preferred the Torta a little more. The breaded beef on it was so good. The tomato and avocado were perfect on top. It had a good kick, but it's not too spicy. The Torta was huge, and next time I might share it with someone else. But I can't wait to go back! Service was pretty quick. It was kinda busy at lunch on a Friday, several online orders were coming through too. I think I waited less than 10 minutes for my order. I've now been to Los Carnalitos 4 times and I have to say, it literally is as good as it gets. Yes, the wait time is annoying. Yes, the portion sizes vs price can be a little annoying. But after many trips, I literally can't think of a better Mexican spot. So the pambazo - get it with pork belly. It's like this amazing, sloppy, crispy, spicy, charred, meaty, rich, fatty... basically all the great food words. The torta de la casa - meat bomb, don't think about cholesterol, it's so amazing in the variety of meaty flavors you can have at once. The gordita - a meat/cheese/crispy bomb for your mouth. The gringa - spicy, crispy, porky, fatty, just overall drool worthy. Every single thing I've ever ordered has been just so dang amazing. Like I can't even nitpick because for a lot of these, I literally have no yardstick. Los Carnalitos is just the best and that's that. My brother found this place a while ago and I tried his leftover carnitas quesadilla and was sold!! Never have I ever had a tortilla like theirs! It really sets them apart from all the other places! I was a bit skeptical at first since it is a truck (located right in front of a planned parenthood too)...but don't let that deter you from trying this place! My husband and I decided to try this place recently since we were in the area, and I wish this truck parked in front of my house!! Lol! The mushroom quesadilla is worth trying too!
