We stopped at this gas station, and I took the dog out. I walked by, and someone asked if I was going to get something to eat here. He said that he loves this place and comes just to eat here specifically. I ordered a pastor burrito, asada Gordita, and two tacos. Right as I made the order, I heard the slapping of fresh tortillas and masa, and I was thrilled. The guy who encouraged me to order got into his semi-truck and drove off. A great and trustworthy sign. This place is so freaking good. It's a very chill spot. The food is pretty fast, so it's a great place to grab a fresh bite to eat off the five.

Omg!!! Yall have to pit stop with Tacos El Hidalguense. We were driving through but stopped to get drinks at the market and saw the taco truck across the parking lot. We decided to check it out, and I am so glad we did. I had the Torta de Asada with all the fixings and I cannot stress how good it was. I have not had a good torta in a LONG time! But El Hidalguense knows what he is doing. The bread was toasted perfect for a crunch but still buttery; The meat is seasoned, juicy, and flavorful. The torta includes avocado, tomatoe, and lettuce with a Cilantro sour cream that is spectacular because it adds freshness while not overpowering. They offer a red and a green salsa on the side and my favorite was the green salsa. Everything was a 10/10 for me. The Agua de Arroz was made with real rice and the other items I tried were the Hot Cheetos burrito and chicken burrito. All were 10/10! Stop by and get some good food for your travels.

Driving I-5 South found this great place for a quick stop. Tacos 10/10, had an agua de melon Can say a best. Great customer service. For a chilly night they had a gazebo with walls and a space heater. If ever drive through here again for sure will stop.

I see that on Wednesdays they sell their tacos for $1, I paid full price for mine (2.50) and I do not regret it for a moment. The corn tortilla is hand made right in front of you, the meat is cooked to perfection and the salsas are so flavorful I wanted them all. The pinapple on the pastor taco deserves a million stars. The lady taking our order was so sweet and the line moved really quick. We tipped 7.00 on our 50.00 order and she was so suprised (people please tip, especially this place. They are doing the Lords work here!) You can see your order being made right in front of you and it all looks so delicious. The menu has many options to choose from, today we chose tacos but im sure we're coming back for more tacos and to try other things. This is an outdoor venue, this particular one is in the parking lot of a local bar. There is plenty of tables, including a couple of water misters for hot days. Today was way over 100 degrees so it made the wait a bit more bearable. Because of the heat we chose to take it to go but on a nicer day I think id rather eat there.

I ordered two asada tacos, carnitas, a loaded asada papa, and a pineapple with chamoy . The meat had good flavor but the meat was really greasy. The Fresca was watered down. The papa was good. Absolutely floored by this place--it's a hidden gem!…read more Seating inside is pretty limited, but they do have outdoor tables and chairs, which honestly adds to the vibe. Parking is street only, but trust me... it's 100% worth the hassle. From the moment we walked in, the experience was great. We were warmly greeted and given the option to get recommendations or browse the menu ourselves, which I appreciated. After taking our time, we ordered the chicken quesadilla, nacho fries, and a California burrito, along with salsa verde, chubbie salsa, and chipotle salsa. The food? Incredible. A solid 10/10. Everything was packed with flavor, the meat was juicy (not dry at all), and the salsas absolutely stole the show. On top of that, the staff really made the experience stand out. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Great food, great music (nothing but bangers the whole time), and amazing service. I'll definitely be back!

The place is pretty easy to find on the corner of 18th & R. There isn't a lot of seating for more than parties of 4. We were a party of 6 and we all smooshed into a horseshoe booth inside. There are only 2 of these booths available and they indicated they are not able to place additional seating at the booths. I imagine you might be able to put tables together outside for a larger party. We were greeted warmly, and while I felt overwhelmed by the amazing choices, the gal taking our order put me at ease by walking me through the menu board. We got amazing carnitas quesadillas and tacos and another dish that came on top of a mound of delicious fries. It's the kind of place where you order, then sit down and they bring you the food. We were well taken care of. Our drinks were refilled and they brought us 'to go' boxes. Their portions are generous and just tasty. And the iced tea was perfect! We ordered a full order of chips and salsa. That is extra. It was $6 for a full order ($5 for half) and these chips were well worth the cost. We will be back!
