Good food truck! The parking was a bit tough because the rain flooded the parking lot but we were able to just park outside on the street. There is a tent with lots of picnic tables to eat at. The prices are decent and we got our food quickly. Carne tacos were good! A little bit of a spicy kick which was nice and cooked nicely. The rice was good too. The fish taco was good, a little bigger than the others, but the fish could be a little softer-- it was a little overcooked. Otherwise a solid food truck and good casual food option!

Forgot to include a picture of the elote and California burrito but it was fireee. The fries inside were seasoned and perfectly crispy, although I recommend eating it as soon as you get it versus waiting like we did because the tortilla got soggy from all the filling. Either way, flavor was still there and that's all that matters. The elote was top tier, I love that it's an actual cob and not one of those elote cups, those just aren't the same vibe. For tacos, we got carnitas and carne asada; both were flavored well but my only gripe is that the carne asade was basically minced beef vs chopped steak. Would go again but bring your mosquito spray!

Went to Tacos Jalisco on Kekuanaoa St, Hilo for their 2 for $5.50 tacos as advertised on the street & parking lot banners. I asked for the $5.50 tacos and was informed that they were $5.75 as he pointed to their menu on my left. I pointed to their banner on my right as it indicated 2 for $5.50. He said that was an old banner which in my view looked pretty new to me. Not to argue over 2 orders of .50c more, I placed the order. I was then asked if they could place the four tacos inside one plate and I said sure. When I received my order, I asked if there was hot sauce. I was told that it was inside the plate and if I wanted more it would be .50 cents. So, upon checking what I received, I lifted the little container to eye level & saw that it was a tablespoon of hot sauce. NO WAY was I going to pay .50 cents more for that amount of hot sauce. After leaving it occurred to me why he asked if they could place all four tacos inside one plate. So that they would not be obligated to provide more of those little containers of sauce. Their entire scheme was to hopefully get me to purchase more hot sauce and to pay more $ for food then what was advertised. Lastly, the tacos had more onions than meat. I must have received the onion tacos by mistake. Never again will I go near that place!

This was traumatizing.... Ordered carne asada tacos and they gave me this and the rice tasted like minute rice... I think Taco Bell is more Mexican than this. Worker was nice though. It just didn't taste or look like carne asada at all, it tasted like ground beef with some taco seasoning.

Food was great, tasted like a true Cali taco truck burrito. Ordered the Cali burrito with asada. Salsa complimented the burrito. Truly my first satisfied taste of a great burrito since moving to Hawaii. Definitely going back. Service good. Nice tables and condiment table, very clean.

So I gave an honest review about this food truck and the lady serving my husband food, who was super rude, her name is Jubilee. Doesn't live up to her name. She responded to my review by calling my husband a perv and laughing. If this were my employee she'd be fired. Maybe it's the owner. Who knows but Taco Bell tastes way better and costs way less. Don't bother with this place. The most disgusting refried beans I've ever had. If you click on the gray box you will see Jubilee's response to my review: your husband was a perv lol

If you're in Hilo and craving some Mexican cuisine, Tacos Jalisco can definitely satisfy that craving! Ample amount of parking and tables in their lot. We got there about an hour after they opened and the area was vibing with music from their speaker. Service was quick and friendly. My first time trying Flautas and I got their Carnitas Flautas. The plate came with 4 pieces of flautas, refried beans and Mexican rice. I wasn't expecting it to come with the sides since it wasn't listed on the menu so that was definitely a pleasant surprise and made this place a great affordable spot. The carnitas flautas was fried with a nice crisp, the carnitas meat had a nice flavor and the drizzle of guacamole and sour cream paired everything perfectly. My boyfriend got their carne asada tacos and it was alright, a little on the dry side though. So the star of the meal was definitely the flautas and I would visit them again just for that.

I'm reviewing the new PunaKai shopping mall location in Pahoa. Although a good location and inside seating, local traffic is minimal unless there's an event happening. Same selection as their Hilo location. And they do have birria. The pricing seems a bit higher which is understandable (lease). I ordered the regular burrito w/carnitas and Flautas w/rice & beans total: $28. Tonight's wait time was decent (5-7 mins) as the previous time was unreal! for just 2tacos waited over 10imin. and the tortillas were hard and chewy. I do wish them luck! Once Ikaika Marzo's Western Bar opens their business should pick up also. We appreciate a new eatery in Puna . Luckily we still have Panchos and SiSi's.

We order carne asada taco And usually love their steak taco but this time around the steak is tough and chewy like they use a cheap steak not the usual. But why would they give cheap steak it tough and chewy And steak itself was also like it bits n pieces to cover up usual quality steak Can imagine other meat alternatives they use I'm was a usual lover of this food truck but after they use alternative cheap steak like they stir fry it and chop into bit n pieces ...it not the same as before So beware of their carne asada is not what it use to be and it not even marinated like it suppose to ..so it has that real Mexican taste of the carne asada So I give my 4 carne asada Taco a rate of 1 of 5 Don't be fooled by their cheap steak and try taste it if it the REAL taste of Mexican carne asada read more

If you're looking for good authentic Mexican food then you Need to come here. My husband and I came here and the first night had birria tacos with rice and beans on the side. The tacos were cooked to perfection. They were filled and evenly seasoned. Everything had a perfect balance and was consistent. So because the food was so delicious we came back the next day for lunch. My husband had the steak fajitas with rice and beans. They loaded his plate and the one nice surprise was they had mushrooms, he loved that. I wanted a little bit of everything so I had 4 tacos, each was different. 1 was a taco de carne asada, the other carnitas, the next one was chorizo and the last one chicken. Of course with a side of rice and beans. We also got abuelitas chocolate cake for dessert. Everything again was delicious, I couldn't stop myself from going Mmm with every bite. Our eyes were bigger than our stomach and they were generous with their serving size so we saved the cake for later. The chocolate cake is delicious for the chocolaholics but not too overwhelming. Which I may be a fan of but my husband not so much but this was to his liking that he was able to eat his half. Which is hard if you like but not love chocolate. So what I'm saying is come and try the food you won't be disappointed. Not to mention the friendly service. They really put that love in their food. I'd have a picture to post with this review but it smelled so good we forgot to take it. Next time we come back to the Big Island we know where to come eat first! Mahalo read more

I just came back from a vacation in Austin where there's seemingly a taco truck on every corner. Tacos Jalisco, which I gave a shot at the recommendation of a friend, would fit right in and pass muster there. And this is better Mexican food than any of the brick-and-mortar Mexican restaurants on the East side of the Big Island of Hawaii. I ordered the tres tacos plate, with carnitas, chorizo and carne asada. My first bite was chorizo. Yes, it's greasy, as it's supposed to be, but the heavens opened up and the choir all hit the same beautiful note "aaaahhhhhh!!!!" Simply amazing. The carnitas were also savory, tender and unbelievably tasty. Both were great. The carne asada was simply good. You know what, I'll take two greats and one good any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Well, I would if the truck were open on Sunday. That said, you may remember even God rested on the seventh day. They have Mexican Coke, Sprite and Fanta among their drinks, as well. I've never seen the Mexican versions in Hawaii before. And it's like Mexican beer. The same blueprint as the American version, only executed better. The Mexican sodas have granulated sugar instead of that dad-blasted high fructose corn syrup. Next time, I'll have the pollo taco with the carnitas and chorizo. Pro tip: They do have pico de gallo, but you have to ask. Funny, even though it was my first trip there, the lady in the truck window said, "We'll see you again." Somehow, she knew. read more

My husband & I stopped in for a small quick bite and we settled on the nachos with chorizo added on as our meat choice. How can you go wrong with nachos right? They did not disappoint! The nachos were plentiful and delicious. The chorizo was very flavorful and toppings were plentiful. There were a good amount of tables to sit at, under covered area. The service time took about 25 minutes, but the gentleman taking our order was up front about the wait time which I really appreciated. The only observation we made was that there was no hot sauce anywhere. I should have asked the man in the window if there was hot sauce or jalapeño for purchase as I like my food a little spicy. Next time I will and there will definitely be a next time. If the owner is reading this, can you tell me if you offer hot sauce or jalapeños to add on? Thank you read more

The search is over!!! We are constantly looking for places to eat authentic Mexican food in the local area and Tacos Jalisco food truck popped up. I seriously need to expand my horizons with regard to food trucks because the level of customer care and high quality food preparation was absolutely exquisite!!! I ordered the carnitas flautas and HELLO .......they were exceptional!!! Very tasty with excellent attention to detail - no short cuts! They have a nice variety of menu options and a modest selection of beverages. I enjoyed my meal thoroughly to the point where I had to introduce & personally thank the chefs!!! Needless to say, we will be frequenting Tacos Jalisco on a regular basis. 10 of 10 for every single aspect from their welcome, menu options, high quality meal preparation, cleanliness, and kind/respectful staff. Yum! Very nice window service. Cute covered area with a bunch of wooden tables with benches for sitting and eating. Smelled so good. I got chicken nachos, was a huge portion and so ono. They make their own chips, and the chicken was juicy shredded goodness. Nice pico de gallo, sour cream, and homemade guacamole. Flavors were on point! Tasted like the socal mexi food of my childhood that I miss and yearn for. I did have to eat with extra chips on the side cuz it got a lil soggy, but I'm a slow eater and I drove home for ten minutes before eating. Super delicious. I can't wait to go back and try other things. read more

Great Mexican food...better than any of the brick and mortar currently open in Hilo town. I haven't had all the meats, but the chicken and carne asada are both good. The beans and rice that come with the plates are really flavorful, not just filler. Unlike other food trucks, they are here every day and have tons of parking and covered tables to eat at. Food truck with comfortable and clean outdoor eating area. Súper clean overall. Sparkling new truck/kitchen. Picnic tables under giant canopy. Private fenced gravel lot. Porta potties at back. Super clean. Very professional cooks. Kind staff. Owner operated. Less than a minute from airport intersection (easy to get to if unfamiliar with Hilo). Has a West Coast taco truck vibe. Food is tasty! Missing a salsa bar and aguas frescas (tamarindo, Jamaica), but very nice. I wish they had a tofu/veggie fajita blend. Bean burrito or bean tacos are the only veggie options, it seems. Today, Chef Troy mentioned that they are opening a taqueria in Kona. Looking forward to trying that when over Kona side for beach days. read more

This is the real deal. We recently moved to Kailua-Kona but are over in the Hilo area sometimes. Happy this truck is here! From the real corn tortillas that are grilled to perfection to the flavorful meats, Tacos Jalisco does it real. I loved all tacos, especially the pollo and my husband loved the carnitas. But seriously I can't choose. read more

Delicious. Have been to lots of Mexican Food places on the BI and not always very good, lack consistency with their chefs. This food truck has a great set up, 2 clean porta potties, 8 Large picnic tables under a canopy and with side shades. Our keiki loved it too. The Lemon peel lemonade was basically spiked lemonade. Well balanced for being a tart oriented drink, but I didn't care for the floating bits. The risotto which comes in full and half order, was very rich and had chunks of mushrooms for flavor. We're glad we got the half as this was a heavy, rich, and cheesy entrée on its own. If you love risotto, you will love this dish. The marlin was perfectly cooked and balanced out with a locally inspired vegetable succotash. Fried bits of kalo were also added in for added texture. The special and new item, the gnocchi was the star of the show. This is by far the fluffiest gnocchi we've ever had. Crispy on the outside, little potato clouds of fluff on the inside. The gnocchi came over a tasty sauce with bits of fried onion for absolute perfection. The crisp rice was recommended by Yelpers and it was alright, crispy rice with a spoon of poke. Not bad, but did not live up to the hype. Get another order of the gnocchi instead. It's fairly rare to see pots de crème on restaurant menus, specials or not, so we had to get this. It came in a cute little glass jar, with rich chocolate and mascarpone flavor with a hint of mac nut. This desert was an absolutely delicious perfect end to the meal. You can make reservations online, street parking is quite limited, and it can get busy as the night goes on, so recommended to get an earlier dinning time. Staffs regularly checked in on us and were polite and efficient.

If you're craving authentic Mexican food, Jalisco's tacos absolutely hit the spot. The tortillas were fresh, the meat was perfectly seasoned, and everything tasted incredibly flavorful. You can tell they put real care into the food. The tacos were simple in the best way--great quality ingredients, fresh toppings, and bold flavors that don't need anything extra. The most authentic and well-priced Mexican tacos I have found on the big island. Small menu but that allows them to keep everything high quality and fresh and you can definitely tell. They have had a line several times when I have come through and I'm still in and out in under 10 minutes every time so far. The tacos are 80% protein, 10% tortilla, and 10% salsa/cilantro/onions. Bruh I don't know how anybody could give this place less than 5 stars! The Chorizo Tacos and Carne Asada tacos are the best tasting tacos I've ever had on or off the island. The only complaint I have is that it's in a small-ish lot so sometimes it's hard to see where to turn in and it's kind of hard to get out. I really wanted to try the brisket and ribs, but that wasn't possible unless I bought two plates. Chef suggested the brisket, so I got that with two sides of corn. Would the rather flimsy fork and no knife be enough? Oh yeah! The brisket just about fell apart. It was moist, which is hard to achieve; usually it's dried out. It was lightly sauced, enough to complement the meat, not drown it. The corn ears were juicy, also not dried out. I'll be looking for this truck next time I'm on the Hilo side! Gotta try those ribs.
