    Sanchos app. Great dish!
    Roy R.

Decent Mexican spot with an interesting mix of Mexican and "sushi". The sanchos appetizer plate is delicious and definitely enough for 2 to share. Kids plates are a little steep at $8, but comes with a lot of food and some delicious fries. The sushi rolls are decent according to my friends, but they are not typical sushi rolls you'd find everywhere. They have decent drinks with a full bar so you can actually customize them to how you like. Lots of TV's playing cumbia music videos. Staff is friendly. Place is a little loud.

First time I see mouthwash in the rr at a restaurant!

If I could give this place 6 stars I would!!! I wanted sushi and this place came up on maps & I decided to give it a try. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the servers, they were friendly and nice. They had music playing and the restaurant looked very clean, they even had mouth wash in the restroom. The food was amazing, I had the McAllen roll and my partner got the camarones a la diabla. I will for sure be coming back.

The food is delicious and I recommend getting an Agua Fresca they're HUGE and made fresh. The birria wasn't the best from here, but my tacos and my sisters torta were so good. I was really full after my meal they're generous with their sides and garnishes which I appreciate. They also gave us a variety of salsa to go with our chips. I recommend coming here and I'll definitely revisit.

Randomly picked this spot for lunch and I'm very happy I did. I placed a to-go order and the service was great! While waiting, I was given chips and salsa/beans and ALL of the salsas were so different but very tasty. My order was packaged carefully and included everything I needed. The asada burrito was so good and HUGE! Have to shout out the frijoles charros they provided, some of the best I've tasted. I'm only in town for a bit longer but it definitely deserves another visit.

We tried the Botanas for 2 sampler, and it did not disappoint! Everything was flavorful, well-portioned, and beautifully plated. A great way to try a little bit of everything if it's your first time. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was super friendly. Definitely recommend!

Great michelada! 5 salsa and chips. All were delicious. One is sneaky hot!

Staff was super helpful. Wasn't sure what to order so went with the tostada sampler. They were all delicious. The shredded chicken was moist and delicious, not dry. Shrimp were bright citrus flavors. Was great to use the different salsas on each tostada. Will go back next time I am in town.

I don't usually rate unless the restaurant is exceptional and this place is. I've never been to a place where EVERYTHING was perfect. By far the best mexican breakfast I've ever had. The food and ambiance are great. Best breakfast place in the Valley that we've ever been to. A++++

    These were good

I really enjoyed their chips and varieties of dips. The service needs a little work... I'll go back just for the chips and dips though! I had the fish tacos, which were not the best. But other items on the menu looked worth a try. I'll go back to try out some other things.

This is one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat! It is delicious. If y'all can't decide where to eat this is the place to go, the menu is very diverse and it's all good. I have never had a bad experience here. I usually order the quesocombo which is four tacos with a lot of cheese and your choice of meat. I always get two of carne desherbada and two of fajita. It also comes with a side of charro beans and a beverage. The chips and salsa brought out while dining in are so good. They also bring out some refried beans and omg delicious. I've also tasted their famous Kissi Roll & it's too good. Their caldo de camarones is also really good. And their burritos are so so so so good. I have tried so many items off their menu and I have enjoyed every single one of them. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

    Tortilla chips and salsa variety.

First time visiting McAllen, what should I eat? Tacos. Browsing through the listing, Tacos Kissi caught my eye. Tacos and Sushi? What?? It's the first time I've ever seen this combo, I just had to try. Parking is not plentiful, but we came for a late lunch and was able to park right up front! First thing I want to note is the service. It deserves a star on its own! Reason why I'm giving this place a 4*. We were seated very quickly by our waitress. Don't speak Spanish? It is okay, the waitress explained what each taco was and she was very patient taking our order. The tortilla chips and the various salsas are excellent! The chips are deep fried to perfection, very crisp. Not your usual tortilla chip out of a bag! And they offered free refills of chips. For my drink I had the horchata, very good and in a large cup. We had both the tacos and sushi! We ordered the sampler which had a Kissi sushi roll, 3 fried shrimp, 2 bacon wrapped jalapeños, and 2 fried seafood egg rolls, not sure what was in there. Overall the sushi/seafood was ok, I mean, it's a taco place that serves sushi. The tacos were good! We ordered carne asada, pastor, ternera, and deshebranda? The latter two from what I remember were just different types of beef, cubed or shredded. I liked the pastor and carne asada the best. I can't say how impressed I was with the service, I wish I would have got her name, but after observing other servers, looks like they were just as attentive, A+ for service.

Hadn't been here in a very long time. Service is good We ordered a cucumber lemonade and let's just say it is deeeeliiiccciioouussss. Had the botana which maybe feel like I had to search for the fajita. The fajitas was chopped so small that it didn't seem like it had any meat. My friend ordered a sushi roll ( yes you read right sushi at a Mexican restaurant) and it was ok but not something to order again. Wifi is available however, you need to ask for the password and the staff give you a look of it's top secret.

With not wanting to miss out on any specific specialty taco, I decided to go with their Sampler Plus and boy was I happy to do that. Decided to do two Tacos El Plebe, Taco el Rojo, El de Asada, and Taco El Compa. If I had to choose, the Taco El Plebe had the edge but none of these disappointed. The sauces were on point and for the first time in a while, I felt that great kick but not over bearing. The grilled onions was just the cherry on top of tacos. And Tuesdays seems to be free cup of Frijoles Mamalones I was happy to be trying this place on a Tuesday, it did not disappoint but I was feeling it. I had to opt out of trying any desserts, but that just means I'll have to be back. They have a DJ and/or play music but it's not so loud you can't have intimate conversations or not hear your friends and family. The waiter said the weekends is jammed pack but I wouldn't let that deter me from trying to be here, there is plenty of parking and seating, just may come earlier rather than later.

They have two locations, but this is THE location - the original - the one with the great atmosphere and the one that has the food truck vibe that they started with even though it's a full-blown restaurant. We opted to sit outside because the atmosphere is just great. Our server was Jacob and he was great - appropriately helpful and attentive without being too attentive. Now - I should say that I'm not a street taco fan. In fact, this is the only place I've ever had a street taco that I liked - so that's saying a LOT. We started with the chips and queso which had some type of meat in it with cabbage on top - oh - sooo tasty! They'll bring you as many chips as you need to get every bit of queso! Very good flavor! The charro beans had meat and cheese and were phenomenal - the flavors and textures - I could make a meal of just the beans, but fortunately we didn't do that. We had the taco sampler which has 5 different tacos. I opted to do the 'step up' and made one of mine shrimp. The presentation was top notch. They came with cilantro and sautéed onion slices. Now, you may say 'they're onions - big deal' but those onions had an amazing flavor to them! I put some on my tacos, and I had several forkfuls just like that! The salsas all had really good flavor - each was different but great and each had some heat. I am totally a salsa snob - I admit it. These were on par with the rest of the meal - great! The tacos - an El Rojo Quesadilla; El de Asada Quesidilla; shrimp; El Plebe; and chicken with sautéed pineapple. The corn tortillas were perfect - not too dry and not too moist. Now - I'm not a corn tortilla fan, but these were perfect! Each of the meats was perfectly prepared and flavored. Every bite was a treat. I have never had a shrimp taco stuffed with so many shrimp - seriously! I was skeptical about the chicken and pineapple because, I don't like pineapple on food but I was pleasantly surprised that the flavors really worked! Our dinner was great. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. Not too often that all three are found in one place. The only down side - El Plebe is 3 hours from where I live so I can't come back on a regular basis. But if you live nearby or are passing through - you are REALLY missing out if you don't try this place!

A Hidden Gem for Mexican Seafood -- Don't Sleep on This Place!…read more As a traveler from California in town for a swim meet, I was on the hunt for good Mexican seafood and stumbled upon La Costa Grill. Based on the reviews, I had decent expectations -- but this place blew them out of the water. The ratings honestly don't do it justice. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was warm and genuine. We were greeted by the hostess and seated right away, even during the lunch rush. Then came a wonderful surprise: our server brought out a mini skillet of the most incredible black refried beans for dipping, alongside four salsas ranging from mild to hot, all served with tostadas -- compliments of the house. Back in California, you're lucky to get one salsa, let alone refried beans as a free starter. It immediately set the tone for the meal. Our server was knowledgeable and genuinely helpful with recommendations. We ended up sharing a lunch portion of paella, an octopus taco, and a fish ceviche tostada -- and every single dish delivered. The octopus taco was a standout; served over a layer of refried beans, it was a flavor combination I didn't know I needed. The ceviche tostada was fresh and bright, and the paella was satisfying and well-seasoned. I also have to give our server extra credit for her transparency -- she mentioned upfront that the paella leans heavier on rice than seafood. That kind of honesty is rare and really appreciated. We ordered it anyway, and we were glad we did. If you're visiting McAllen and want authentic, flavorful Mexican seafood with outstanding service and hospitality, La Costa Grill needs to be on your list. I'll absolutely be returning before I head back home.

Waiter came and took our orders for drinks and we all started making our selections for food. The chips and salsa they bring out complementary are so good. We did have to wait because they were making a fresh batch but it was worth the wait. We all had a round of drinks and then put in our order for food and it was about 7pm already. Our waiter then came up to the table and asked us if we would mind moving because they had a reservation at 8pm for the area that they chose to sit us in. We were kind of annoyed by that because we had called the day before to make our reservations. We said I guess thinking it was going to be close to 8 that they would move us. Nope about 5-10 mins passed and he came by and asked us if we would mind moving already before our food came out. Considering that again we had a reservation and they knew it was a large party they should have blocked out more than just 2 hrs for us to be there. We moved and the very least they could have done for us is offer a free dessert on the house for the table but they didn't. Now I ordered the flautas which were served on a bead of beans. The menu said shredded chicken but we were told they didn't have chicken they only had beef so I ordered it. The flautes were lacking flavor and probably could have been saved by adding salt to them and the beans but they don't have that at any of the table. I did try some of my friends chicharrones and those were really good. We left around 8:15-8:20 and there was no one that showed up where we were originally sitting... so we could have just stayed where they originally sat us. We left feeling very annoyed.

I couldn't pass up the refried beans and chips since they were wafting in my vicinity, no regrets though, the chips were on the lighter side (not super hard like a tostada) and crispy and you could taste the manteca in the beans which made me smile. Según, I had no intention on eating but I couldn't pass up the aguachile as it came to my table. Twas delightful! The only regret I had at that point was not bringing my appetite. Onto the drinks. Wanted to start off "light" and the Paloma was perfect and refreshing. Not too much on the squirt side, not amargoso (bitter) and the right amount of tequila. During the night they abruptly announced that they were running a 2 for 1 shot special along with LMFAO's "Shots" song and you almost feel obliged to order (marketing genius). I was feeling adventurous and decided not to ask what each shot entailed, but rather to go based off the name. I went with the Perla Negra and for the presentation itself it was worth ordering. All in all, this place is a MUST for your Friday night warm up. Como dice terminator: I'll be back.
