We then moved on to the tacos - the Brisket Burnt Ends, the Chicharron Ceviche, and the Cali Fish (my favorite). The Cali Fish was nicely fried and just a bit of heat and slightly sweet slaw. However, I know from traveling that some of the best spots are ones that appear to be a hole in the wall. I walked in, very cute inside! She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all. I really liked my lechon asado. It was a good portion but the one thing is my plantains were pretty burned. I also got to try some of my mom's tacos. And those were yummy as well. Would come back!
