My friend had her birthday party here on a weekday after work and it was surprisingly not too packed. We were able to snatch 5 seats with no problem. It was also happy hour and I was so grateful because usually HH ends at 6 but this one ended at 8. I love that about this place!! I got the mini chicken birria tacos for $9 which was a steal for Birria tacos! The tacos were delicious. A tad a bit small and I could have used more consommé but it's alright. Our server gave my friend a shot for her birthday which was really sweet! This place is solid in my book!

Omg the lady that served us must have been a mom super sweet and outgoing gave me some Mexican soup cuz I only ordered rice n cold out. Jalapeño margarita my boyfriend said it was spicy af. Chill spot for locals come here often. Close to downtown kc.

We stopped here before going to a show at Kauffman Performing Arts Center and I'm glad we did. The fish tacos were more than decent and the patio was a nice place to sit and enjoy the vibes. The staff was quite helpful and attentive, which allowed us to simply enjoy our time. I can absolutely see us visiting again.

For a night when Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts was busy, our group of four managed to get in swiftly--we sat outside in the rear of the restaurant and it was fabulous! Not so loud, and not as windy since they have a canopy/tent back there. Our server was great; busy for sure and she managed her customers well. Food was outstanding: I had 2 à la carte chicken enchiladas -- since I was going back to the Kauffman, I didn't want leftovers, but still probably should have order just one! S much delicious food. Chips and salsa were good; I tried the spicy & found it too hot for me. Sadly, I didn't have the opportunity to snap more pics of the establishment or menu. I'd definitely go back!

This is a place I've always passed by, and I'm glad I finally stopped in! We stopped in here on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The inside is nothing special, but lots of tables without being cramped. The service was great and the food was quick. Everything we ate was delicious, I especially loved the chicken fajita burrito. The next time you pass by this restaurant, stop in!

I've always been curious about this place. I've driven by it ever since I moved here 16 years ago. I finally gave it a try, and I'm so glad I did! I used to feel intimidated about where to park. Street parking on Broadway is usually available after 6 PM or between 9 AM and 4 PM, but it's a bit limited. There is also a parking lot in the back, which seems to be for restaurant use only, just be sure to check the signs. The back patio is absolutely charming! There's this beautiful, lit-up tree that adds so much ambiance. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend dining outside alfresco. I ordered the carnitas, and wow they were incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I went with double rice instead of beans because I was heading next door to watch a movie at Stray Cat Film Center and didn't want to risk any bean-related regrets (iykyk!). Overall, it's a super great spot. Very busy and lively on a Friday night, which just added to the fun atmosphere. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

Family member introduced me to this place. Small local restaurant with a cozy feel to it. Chips and salsa to start, guacamole dip was good. I ordered the combo plate #1. Two burritos with rice and beans. I had one chicken and one beef. It was awesome! The chicken was soo juicy and tender, highly recommend. Our service was good and helpful. Keep up the good work, definitely will try again. Thank you.

I finally got the chance to try Los Tules on Broadway, and it did not disappoint! The food was yummy! I had a chimichanga, and my friend had enchiladas. We also shared an incredible dip with beans, cheese, red sauce, and chorizo. I can't remember the name, but it was very good! The drinks were just as impressive. I had a ruby red margarita, while my friend ordered a drink that we definitely should have split! I can't remember the name of the drink. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was good. I'd return!

This is the 5th Mexican restaurant I've been to in Kansas City and it's the first one i've actually liked. The margarita was delicious. The tostadas were great. The bean and rice were excellent. I thought the prices were very reasonable. The waitress was friendly. The atmosphere was very pleasant...until the football game came on and they cranked up the volume on the television, then it was time to go lol. But I'll definitely be back.

Average Tex Mex style restaurant, with standard fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, plate options. Food was okay, and pricing was fair for Tex Mex, although personally I would prefer the multitude of taco shops or Mexican restaurants we have in the area instead. They had plenty of seating with a few outdoor tables. Food came out relatively quick, and our waitress was super friendly and helpful. Salsas weren't that spicy. There were some vegetarian options available. It's an okay place to take a group, but I wouldn't return by myself.

Overall, I had a decent experience. The table we were seated at was wobbly. The service was great but the drinks were mediocre. There was an after taste to the strawberry margaritas. The food was pretty good. I had the fajita plate and my fiance had the soft taco plate. The ambiance was decent enough but I felt like the meal was extremely overpriced for lunch.

Don't pass up on Los Tules! This spot is great for late night eats and hangouts if you're in the area. This place gets a bad for a whole slew of reasons. Some say it's not authentic enough or good enough or the service is slow--look, Los Tules is not a fancy place, you seat yourself, and it gets busy at times, but there will be a table available at 9:30pm and they'll serve you some hot, juicy, crispy carnitas in a matter of minutes. You'll even get a beautiful view of the Kaufmann Center on your way in. The service can be slow at times if the place is absolutely packed, but it usually isn't. Here are the gotchas: - The food is somewhere between more authentic than K-Macho's and less authentic than most of the places on Southwest Blvd - The entrees can get spendy between the price and the 12% sales tax rate. I don't know why it's 12% either, but that's what we're working with. The price and varying quality of the entrees is the primary reason why I went for 3 stars rather than 4. - I would recommend sticking to the a-la-carte menu and avoiding the rice and beans, which aren't as high quality as one would hope. Overall, Los Tules isn't my first pick for Mexican food, but it's a solid pick for late night bites with a few friends.

Espinaca Dip was huge! Perfect for sharing

Happy hour House Margs until 8pm was a nice surprise when we walked in for dinner. Plenty of space for large parties so we didn't have to wait for a table. The house Marg was a little sweet for my taste and the salsa flavors felt more Italian than Mexican to me, but that's just one girl's opinion. We did have to ask for menus (odd) but the spinach dip and the green chili pork were both tasty. I'd come back for the cheese dip!

They weren't very busy, but I definitely didn't have any of the issues noted in other reviews. Our table had several different cocktails, including the margarita "mocktail", and all were very good. We had the guacamole appetizer which was good but the portion was far too small to warrant a $14 price tag. Dinner was a variety - bacon-wrapped shrimp, halibut, ribeye tacos and octopus. Flavors were different than we are used to but the food was very good all around and everyone was happy with their choice. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience - we would go back in a heartbeat.

The restaurant describes its food as Central Mexican cuisine interpreted through a Midwestern lens, and its menu goes considerably beyond standard tacos and enchiladas. They make their own blue corn tortillas chips and they use house made salsas and sauces. You know the chips you eat too much of to start your Mexican meal? Well they serve theirs with three different sauces. And this is a particularly good one for a pescatarian because seafood isn't an afterthought. The restaurant has dishes such as branzino, scallops, octopus and other seafood preparations. The atmosphere is stylish enough for a business lunch or date. The napkins were this burlap material that I absolutely loved. A very solid Mexican spot near the plaza.

Living in South…read moreFlorida influenced me to learn much more about Latin foods which are much more diverse than Mexican. I've had a very hard time finding much Latin diversity here so far but for Mexican this is quite good. I've mostly gotten combo platters because I like the variety. I believe every combo platter should come with rice and beans. I can tell how authentic a place is by the beans and salsa quite often. So far I've liked the combo platters and the taco salad that I tried. Again, if I remember correctly, I had to pay extra to get beans on my taco salad. That would be one complaint I have. Beans should be a staple and come with everything unless the person doesn't want them. The service has been good. No complaints and it's been busy when we've eaten there usually during lunch hours. The decor and ambiance is pretty typical Mexican. Nothing fancy. The one thing I will note is I didn't see any Mexicans working there. Maybe someone in the kitchen I can't see so that's usually not a great sign. I know they've been around a long time. I'd probably go a smidge lower to 3.5 if I could just because I'm rather picky about Mexican and Latin food but I don't think it's fair to go down to 3 so I'm rounding up. The prices seem a bit high but everything is so expensive in 2026! They are probably pretty average for eating out and I'm sure it's costing them more just like all the rest of us have seen food prices sky rocket over the past year. I would certainly recommend them for a lunch bite and a nice Mexican American experience.

They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The food was done at the quoted time and was accurate. The one individual I encountered was friendly. The menu was very straightforward-tacos, burritos, and a few other items, all can be customized. I had to get an order of chips and queso. I really liked their queso. It had good flavor and wasn't overly spicy. The chips were fresh and held up to the queso nicely. I'm definitely probably alway going to order this when I go. I also tried a taco with carne asada. The tacos are the street variety but they are really good sized. They don't skimp on the meat. And the carne asada was really good. No gristle or gross bits. It was chopped finely and I'd definitely order it again. I also had to try a burrito. I tried the El pastor for that and added on all the toppings-cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I also opted for extra meat because it was super cheap-like $1, so why not? Again, I was not disappointed. I did throw my burrito on the good 'ol George Foreman when I got home because they don't grill it at all and I wanted some grill marks on that tortilla.
