The food & service at Bert's was excellent. The wait staff are so sweet and attentive, take the time to chat with you even though it's super busy and I really appreciate that. The food was all well seasoned and very generous portions. The wait on a weekend is about 35-45 mins, even when they tell you 45-60 mins wait for a table. We came two mornings in a row and were sat at the exact same counter spot both times, which I loved. The inside felt cozy and familiar. This is a go-to spot for brunch in Tahoe for sure!

Fantastic breakfast! Strong, hot coffee! Reasonably priced with a very friendly staff! What more could you possibly need!

Food , 2 senior breakfast cost over $50 and the food terrible taste . Specially the hash brown. Taste horrible. No taste at all . Don't order it . Service ok

Good, hearty breakfast in a country-style cafe. This is a super popular spot, so expect a bit of a wait since the restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's definitely worth it. We ordered the country fried steak and the Cowgirl. The gravy was so good, especially with the homemade biscuits and sausage patty that came with the Cowgirl. The country fried steak was decent and had more meat than breading, which I definitely prefer. A local favorite for sure.

Best tuna melt I have had in a while, and definitely the best in Tahoe. It was so good I came back and ordered the same thing! The food was flavorful, fries were crunchy, and the orange juice was freshly pressed. All the staff were kind and helpful, and there was a lot of seating but it was pretty busy. After a short wait you will be seated, and the foods worth the wait! Cute cafe ambiance as well, they had the place decorated for the holidays.

Read that Bert's Cafe had the best Country Fried Steak so had to check it out for myself. I was not disappointed! The hostess greeted us with a friendly smile. She seated us immediately and took our order for drinks. As soon as our beverages were served...our waitress came to take our order. Service was fast, friendly and very efficient. As a side note, I am an ex-waitress so it takes a lot to impress me. As I mentioned earlier, I came to check out the Country Fried Steak. A big plus was the steak was not one of those frozen varieties. Hubby and friend ordered the Linguica sausage and eggs. Hubby said he really enjoyed the sausage as it had a nice little kick to it. Another friend ordered the breakfast combo, sausage, eggs and pancakes. She loves pancakes, but said these were not as fluffy as she would have liked. During our stay in Lake Tahoe, we had the opportunity to have breakfast at several local establishments. The breakfast menus are similar, but the quality of the food and service at Bert's is what makes this place 5 stars for me.

What a great home-y and friendly experience! We came on a Friday during breakfast and this place was popular. That being said, we only waited about 15/20 minutes. They are family friendly and were very accommodating and sweet to our toddler. So many options and they all looked amazing. Our group was very satisfied with everything we ate. Portions are so big and reasonably priced. I would definitely come by here again when in South Tahoe!

If you love chicken fried steak and country gravy , you will NOT be disappointed! So good! Seen with hash browns & over easy eggs

If you love vintage diner decor, bottomless coffee and scratch made breakfast goodness, this is the place! Run don't walk for the chicken fried steak and the blueberry pancakes -they are the best I've ever tasted. Service is friendly and food comes swiftly.

Good food/good service. Kind and patient servers ambience is Tahoe diner vibes. Burger and fries were delicious. Pancakes were fluffy and hit the spot. Breakfast burritos are a must and we love the orange juice.

Was in Lake Tahoe over the weekend and found this place on Yelp let me start by saying the reviews are NOT lying. This place is absolutely AMAZING! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and received super fast, genuinely great service. The food was completely out of this world. I ordered the Cowboy, and the portions were massive. Honestly, even I couldn't finish it. My girlfriend got the French toast, which was classic and delicious. The French fries were perfectly crispy, and the bacon was cooked just right. The vibe here is super local and incredibly cozy it really made us feel like part of the family. The prices are insanely affordable, though I honestly wouldn't mind paying top dollar for food this good. I'll definitely be coming back every time I'm in Lake Tahoe!

Typical Country Diner where all the locals meet for breakfast or Lunch. Good breakfast menu. They make mostly everything fresh in house. They serve eggs any style, potatoes any style, sausage, ham, pancakes, crepes, black coffee only (don't expect lattés), fresh squeezed Orange juice and more. All the waitresses move fast and are super friendly. The service overall is excellent. The ambiance is casual, nostalgic and friendly. The noise level is moderate to loud. I ordered scrambled eggs, hash brown with raisin toast. And on the side a banana crepe topped with whip cream. Everything tasted really good. Perfect place for a quick breakfast to fuel up before going on your hike or before starting your day. I recommend trying Bert's Café.

Cute cozy diner! The place has been around for years and you can tell. The space is very small so the wait gets very very long. Definitely wouldn't recommend for large groups. The menu includes a plethora of omlettes, sweet treats, Benedict's, and even some south of the border specialties. The waitresses are very nice. Our coffees and waters were always full. Prices are a little much ($20-$25 a meal) but portions are large Overall, I enjoyed eating at a historic town staple but wasn't overly impressed with any aspect of the meal.

No, they didn't require proof from our party.

Wish I had it but it's a family secret! They guard it very closely. Pancakes are awesome.

It is the smallest of all the red huts and it has a vintage cute vibe. Our service was amazing and the food was really delicious. It was very casual and old school. I felt like if I lived here and came regularly, the waitstaff would treat me like family. Everyone was super nice and attentive. Food was a touch expensive but better than competitors (heidi!), but I also felt that some of the food was a little skimpy. My partner got the tuna melt and I just expect a tuna melt to be sort of heaping, like a thick layer of tuna, but the tuna layer was equally as thick as the bread. Also, I got the rösti, and it's about 1 and a half to 2 cups of hash browns with cheese and diced meat on top. As we know, hash browns are super cheap. I got it "loaded" which is choosing all three of the meat options (tiny diced cubes of ham, small slices of breakfast sausage, and bacon bits) and it became $21. I felt like that is pretty steep for hash browns and a quarter cup of meat, but I understand mountain towns have to raise prices to offset the shipping/travel costs. All in all, I would definitely come here again!!!

They had the banner for best brunch 2025 hanging nicely. Diane, the owner, put us on the waitlist and also showed us to our table. Very warm welcome! We started off with coffee. Hubby had the Chorizo Quesadilla and enjoyed it very much. The portion was enough for 2 meals. Sure enough, he took half home. I had the Coconut French Toast, the small portion. Even though it's supposed to be small, I still left some on my plate. Love the fresh sliced bananas with it! There are more menu items we would love to try. Just need to come back and visit again!

The poached eggs were done perfectly and the English muffins were not burnt. (I have, unfortunately, experienced that before at another location.) My sister's breakfast was the corn beef hash, which really did look homemade, (unlike another restaurant in the area that served me what I believed was canned corn beef hash with almost soup texture.) her fruit was ripe. I do believe she very much enjoyed the breakfast. I may not be 100% correct on this, but I was rather disappointed in the hollandaise, it was a bit 'flat'. As far as I can tell, it was not true hollandaise. Most probably it was an egg Béchamel. It had a very creamy texture, a small tendency to congeal on the top, and lacked the bright zing of lemon and buttery texture and flavor of true hollandaise. Indicators, its lack of a slightly translucent and glossy finish, the lack of the acidity of lemon juice or vinegar, and did not weep butter, but instead seem to thicken and form a slight crust as I finished the Benedicts. The egg, Benedict were very tasty, but the hollandaise sauce with disappointing. (I really do like a good hollandaise.)
