Bert's Cafe is easily our favorite breakfast spot in town. The food and service here never miss. The restaurant itself is cute and has that classic breakfast diner feel. It's on the smaller side with around 10-12 tables plus counter seating, which gives it a cozy atmosphere. We arrived around 1:15 p.m. on a weekday and there was about a 20-minute wait, which really wasn't bad. We did feel a little guilty since we were one of the last tables seated before they closed at 2, but the service was so fast that we were finished and out by about 2:05. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the chicken fried steak, which is made completely in-house instead of using frozen, prepackaged steak, and you can definitely taste the difference. It was perfectly crispy and tender, and the homemade gravy was some of the best we've ever had. We also ordered the eggs Benedict, which was a classic done right. The homemade hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly--not overdone at all. For something sweet, we tried the strawberry crepes. Our server let us know beforehand that they use a homemade strawberry compote instead of fresh sliced strawberries, so it would be on the sweeter side. It was exactly what we expected and so good. It definitely has some sweetness from the compote, but it wasn't overly sweet or overwhelming. The service was just as impressive as the food. Everyone we interacted with--from the host to the busser to our server--was genuinely friendly and welcoming. It's honestly pretty rare to find a restaurant where every single employee is so kind, especially in Tahoe, so it really stood out. Overall, we had another great experience and we'll definitely be back for many more breakfasts.

So happy I found this spot for my breakfast stop in Tahoe. All of the staff were very welcoming from the hostess to my waitress they all made me feel at home. My food was so good - hit every spot I needed it too. There also was so many people waiting to get a booth which is a great sign to see as a breakfast spot on a weekday. The environment of this place is the diner you think of when you think of ma and pops breakfast diner to me which is just awesome

The food & service at Bert's was excellent. The wait staff are so sweet and attentive, take the time to chat with you even though it's super busy and I really appreciate that. The food was all well seasoned and very generous portions. The wait on a weekend is about 35-45 mins, even when they tell you 45-60 mins wait for a table. We came two mornings in a row and were sat at the exact same counter spot both times, which I loved. The inside felt cozy and familiar. This is a go-to spot for brunch in Tahoe for sure!

Despite the long line, we were seated in about 20 minutes, which was much faster than I expected. The interior is so cute and cozy, and the whole place has a really welcoming atmosphere. I had to order their combo breakfast, and everything was delicious. The pancakes were incredibly fluffy, and I especially loved the smoked ham because it wasn't overly salty. My hot chocolate was great too. It wasn't too sweet, and I loved the mug so much that I ended up buying one for myself! Our server was so kind and attentive throughout the meal, which made the experience even better. If I ever find myself back in town, I'll definitely be coming back. Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10

Good, hearty breakfast in a country-style cafe. This is a super popular spot, so expect a bit of a wait since the restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's definitely worth it. We ordered the country fried steak and the Cowgirl. The gravy was so good, especially with the homemade biscuits and sausage patty that came with the Cowgirl. The country fried steak was decent and had more meat than breading, which I definitely prefer. A local favorite for sure.

Best tuna melt I have had in a while, and definitely the best in Tahoe. It was so good I came back and ordered the same thing! The food was flavorful, fries were crunchy, and the orange juice was freshly pressed. All the staff were kind and helpful, and there was a lot of seating but it was pretty busy. After a short wait you will be seated, and the foods worth the wait! Cute cafe ambiance as well, they had the place decorated for the holidays.

What a great home-y and friendly experience! We came on a Friday during breakfast and this place was popular. That being said, we only waited about 15/20 minutes. They are family friendly and were very accommodating and sweet to our toddler. So many options and they all looked amazing. Our group was very satisfied with everything we ate. Portions are so big and reasonably priced. I would definitely come by here again when in South Tahoe!

Food , 2 senior breakfast cost over $50 and the food terrible taste . Specially the hash brown. Taste horrible. No taste at all . Don't order it . Service ok

Read that Bert's Cafe had the best Country Fried Steak so had to check it out for myself. I was not disappointed! The hostess greeted us with a friendly smile. She seated us immediately and took our order for drinks. As soon as our beverages were served...our waitress came to take our order. Service was fast, friendly and very efficient. As a side note, I am an ex-waitress so it takes a lot to impress me. As I mentioned earlier, I came to check out the Country Fried Steak. A big plus was the steak was not one of those frozen varieties. Hubby and friend ordered the Linguica sausage and eggs. Hubby said he really enjoyed the sausage as it had a nice little kick to it. Another friend ordered the breakfast combo, sausage, eggs and pancakes. She loves pancakes, but said these were not as fluffy as she would have liked. During our stay in Lake Tahoe, we had the opportunity to have breakfast at several local establishments. The breakfast menus are similar, but the quality of the food and service at Bert's is what makes this place 5 stars for me.

Fantastic breakfast! Strong, hot coffee! Reasonably priced with a very friendly staff! What more could you possibly need!

If you love chicken fried steak and country gravy , you will NOT be disappointed! So good! Seen with hash browns & over easy eggs

If you love vintage diner decor, bottomless coffee and scratch made breakfast goodness, this is the place! Run don't walk for the chicken fried steak and the blueberry pancakes -they are the best I've ever tasted. Service is friendly and food comes swiftly.

Was in Lake Tahoe over the weekend and found this place on Yelp let me start by saying the reviews are NOT lying. This place is absolutely AMAZING! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and received super fast, genuinely great service. The food was completely out of this world. I ordered the Cowboy, and the portions were massive. Honestly, even I couldn't finish it. My girlfriend got the French toast, which was classic and delicious. The French fries were perfectly crispy, and the bacon was cooked just right. The vibe here is super local and incredibly cozy it really made us feel like part of the family. The prices are insanely affordable, though I honestly wouldn't mind paying top dollar for food this good. I'll definitely be coming back every time I'm in Lake Tahoe!
