We hired them on a construction site and I got a call to inform me they were "done" and I assumed it was only phase 1 of their scope of work. Did great work getting rid of the mold quickly. As part of the work they removed a bathroom vanity to check for mold underneath. Doing that they broke the tile countertop which was expected and they warned me about. However they also broke the sink and removed the sink plumbing. Owner claims that the worker doing the job informed my contractor of the damage, but I was less than impressed. And somewhat confused as to how every part of the sink broke. read more

We had a leak in our hot water line in the crawl space under our house during the winter when access and drying was a real problem because of snow around the foundation. TMW offered some advice on how we could start the drying process once the leak was repaired and then set up an appointment for removing the mold that had gotten started. They showed up on time, did a clean job and arranged for the required inspection. They had missed a couple of spots and were prompt about coming back to care of them. Don't trust anyone else if you need to call on someone for this type of work. Ned and his crew are the BEST! I went with AAA's contractor Clean Right Build Right in the effort to not complicate things and get it done asap, but i renamed them Clean Wrong Build Wrong! It is a very long story, but i called on Ned to look at the finished mold remediation that Clean Wrong said they completed. i thought something was not right and needed a professional expert evaluation from someone in the business. the first thing Ned said when he walked in was, what did they do? hahaha exactly...i told him that's my question. Ned spoke with AAA then proceeded to do the job over and CORRECTLY! i am grateful to Ned and all his expertise. He does not mess around, cut corners or try to get away with not doing the job right! Beware. "Mold scam artists" says it all. Tahoe Mold inspected my Lake Tahoe home in the context of a home sale. I believe that they made a dishonest recommendation for unnecessary work in the hopes of getting a lot of money from the seller (me). They performed a visual inspection of the house and also took two indoor air samples. According to their written report they saw no visible signs of a mold problem. They then submitted a proposal to essentially gut the entire interior of the house - take up the carpets, tear out the vinyl flooring, remove much of the sheetrock, and sand the exposed wood. Their report cited no mold or moisture problem on the walls, carpet, or floor. Their justification for this extensive work was based on nothing more than - two air samples! Their "remediation" cost was in the tens of thousands of dollars. This frightened the buyers and the sale fell through. Tahoe Mold's report claims that "air sample testing is the most effective method for determining whether a mold infestation" exists. This is dishonest nonsense. A little internet research readily shows that a couple of air samples alone cannot identify a mold problem or prescribe remediation. I recommend the site http://forensic-applications.com/moulds/sampling.html for an excellent description of the "mold is gold" industry and the many limitations of air sampling. I had another inspection by Indoor Restore Environmental Services. They also found no visible signs of any mold problem, and their three air samples showed that mold spore counts indoors were consistent with the outdoors. The Indoor Restore inspector was incredulous when I described the recommendation of Tahoe Mold. Setting aside thoughts of legal action to collect damages for the lost sale, I decided that warning others to avoid Tahoe Mold would be sufficient. read more

Earlier this year we discovered a major mold issue in our attic -- all of our plywood sheathing under our roof needed to have mold removed. It was a much bigger job than we anticipated and took almost 3 weeks, but Tahoe Mold & Water was great to deal with. Their crew was hard-working and professional, they did a lot of prep work to ensure they wouldn't damage the interior of our house with their equipment. They were great about working us into their schedule, and their price was very fair relative to other bids we got for the work. The work involved soda-blasting all of the plywood sheathing and some areas of the trusses, removal of all attic insulation (170 bags of fiberglass batts, which all had to come down through a small attic access panel) , and then HEPA vacuuming the entire attic area. We then had an independent 3rd party environmental hygienist perform an inspection and test for mold in the attic and interior of the home (another necessary step in the process), and we passed the inspection and testing with no issues. We got bids from Tahoe Mold & Water and another organization, and Tahoe Mold & Water was very competitive. Being a Tahoe full-timer, I checked out their reputation with other long-time Tahoe contractors (word gets around) and heard pretty good things about this organization. At no time did they ask for more $$ for any surprise "more work than we thought." We got written estimates from 2 service providers before selecting Tahoe Mold & Water, it was interesting comparing line items of the 2 bids, the provider we didn't used included costs for a large dumpster for the insulation (vs. Tahoe Mold just used their truck to haul the stuff away), the other bid also included a $3000+ line item for applying a plant-based fungicide after soda blasting. We talked to a few 3rd party hygienists before starting the work (knowing they'd have insights), and none of them thought a fungicide was necessary (web searches said the same thing). I don't write many Yelp reviews but these guys really deserve a very positive review. By the way, if you have a mold problem that needs to be addressed it's worth talking to your homeowners insurer to see if you have any coverage for mold damage. From what I understand most homeowners policies have no coverage for mold or offer very limited coverage. Tahoe Mold & Water offered to help/talk to our insurer, but we never needed to do that, our insurance company sent out an inspector and cut us a check (thank you Amica Insurance)! read more
