Ed was incredibly easy to work with. I sent in a request for a quote and got the quote back within an hour or two. The quote was overall quite a bit less than the other company (a bit more on the way there, but way less on the return trip). Ed gave me his personal contact info, gave clear directions on how to meet the car and sent a payment link. Easy Breezy! You know what's not easy breezy? A full-on rainstorm that is showing flooding in the airport on the news! That happened, so when our flight pushed to the next day, I quickly texted Ed with an update. He said it was no problem which was a weight lifted. And then when our flight time kept pushing back, I kept him updated and that was no problem as well. I would 100% recommend Tahoe Checker Taxi and when we return to the Reno area and need transport to Tahoe we will absolutely use them again.

A TERRIBLY, FRIGHTENING, EXPERIENCE!! RESERVE A TAXI ELSEWHERE…read more We booked a van to drive 3 couples to/from a fundraiser at the top of Donner Summit a couple weekends ago. The ride there was pleasant and uneventful. But the KID that picked us up around 10pm for the ride home was unprofessional and UNSAFE. 1. He took 3 calls on his cell phone promising to "have someone there in 20 minutes." Not only is this illegal in California, but I wondered how that could possibly occur since it didn't seem he was taking note of addresses (thankfully!). 2. It had snowed while we were at the party. The drive down Old Hwy. 40 to Truckee from the summit can be challenging--and even more so with fresh, wet snow--and this kid DROVE WAY TOO FAST, even passing the snowplow! 3. No surprise that we SKIDDED OUT OF CONTROL, HITTING A HUGE ROCK, ALMOST FLIPPING THE VAN. There were no seatbelts in the middle row of the van where I was sitting, so we all got bounced around quite badly. The snowplow tried to tow us out of the ditch, but the front of the van was totaled. 4. The worst part was the kid was unapologetic. He was very flippant, rude and showed no remorse. Not once did he ask if everyone was ok! At least 2 of my friends called and left messages with the company but to date they received absolutely no response or follow up from anyone. Ultimately, two of our husbands hitched a ride down the hill and drove a car back up to pick the rest of us up (defeating the whole purpose of hiring a taxi to begin with). Thankfully the accident occurred at the top of the road. With this irresponsible driving we could easily have gone off a cliff if we were further down the road (this is not an exaggeration for anyone who knows this road!). I will take some bumps and bruises over death any day! But I will certainly NEVER USE THIS TAXI COMPANY AGAIN. Accidents happen. This one could have been avoided--but even so, at the very least the company could respond and apologize. Unbelievable....!!
