You can tell he's passionate about what he does, and his enthusiasm made the entire experience even more enjoyable. He made everyone feel comfortable and confident, whether they were a little nervous or excited to jump right in. By the end of the day, we were all riding and smiling nonstop. This was a special outing for my daughter and her three college friends -- their only weekend in Tahoe together. We drove 45 minutes to the meeting spot and paid $10 to park. Arrived at the dock 15 minutes early and called Jeff to check in -- straight to voicemail. Minutes later, GetMyBoat sent a cancellation notice. No call, no text, no explanation from Jeff himself. Weather was perfect, and four other boat groups were being picked up at the same dock that morning, so there was no weather-related reason for the cancellation. We did get a refund, but nothing makes up for losing the girls' only chance at a day on the lake. If a last-minute cancellation happens, the least you can do is call your customer directly instead of letting them find out by way of a system notice. Very disappointing and unprofessional -- I would not recommend booking with this company.

Andy is an enthusiastic and patient coach as well as a thoughtful host. He was great with my special needs nephew who wanted to try, but was also very cautious. They also introduced us to Boca Reservoir which is only 30 min from Tahoe -but was actually closer to our rental home in Truckee. It's a GREAT place , especially to learn, warmer calm water and very uncrowded. We did one day on Tahoe and one day at Boca. Their boat is also pretty awesome. It's unique - a deck type boat -but also a world class surf boat. So lots of room and amenities for a large group. Also thoughtful are built-in heaters and warming ponchos for early mornings as well and brand new wetsuits. Plenty of healthy snacks and beverages come with your trip. Andy is a former Olympic Snowboarder and professional wakeboarder and seasoned captain - not much more you can ask for. They are probably priced at the high end of the scale for Tahoe, which can be pricey anyway - but it is a 5-star experience all the way and in my opinion, very worth it. They truly value your time and try to maximize your fun. I returned to Tahoe this August without the family and they were open to just a 90 minute surf / coaching session as it was just me and I did not have to book an entire 4 hours. They were able to fit me in before their longer charters started for the day, which many operators just would not do. It took me a while to remember all I learned the year before but with a little coaching , I was up in the wave again!

The first group went out on the boat to work on wake boarding skills. The instructor was so patient and each of the kids who tried got up on the wakeboard. The adults all got turns too. We took a break to cook up some food and we ate on the beach. We went out for more boat time. I am amazed at how much fun everyone had! It was an awesome day and we all went home tired and happy.

The hotel was the perfect combo of luxe, jungle living. Steps from the ocean, the property was exactly what I was hoping for. The pool was a nice touch and the open air restaurant on-site was fresh and delicious. Now for the surfing and yoga! I was a beginner at yoga at the time and Cris was an amazing instructor. I felt completely comfortable and excited to push myself to learn more. The open air yoga studio overlooking the ocean was so peace during each morning yoga sesh. So, even though I have lived in San Diego my whole life, I waited until my 30s and going to Costa Rica to learn to surf. Crazy! But I am glad I did, because the rolling waves in Costa Rica were so perfect to learn on. The small groups at Pura Vida coupled with the super experienced instructors really helped me feel like I was getting one-on-one attention. I was so proud of myself for pushing through my fear and riding waves in. By the end of the week, I was both refreshed (mind) and exhausted (body). With two small kids at home and a demanding job, Pura Vida was the perfect getaway to reenergize my mind and spirit. I also loved heading into town- such a quant place with good restaurants and fun people. We also zip-lined one day, which was so amazing - Starting at the top of the jungle canopy with the most amazing ocean view, and working our way down to the beach! When I got home, I bought a surf board and began surfing in San Diego. An amazing woman and friend of mine, Tierza, started this business about 4 years ago, and I was part of the very first all girls camp.....and I can't possibly iterate how empowering, fun, beautiful and enriching my experience was....probably because of all the tequila I drank while I was there. He said they reserved the right to cancel for any reason and take all my money and I should have gotten travel insurance. Total Scam and unethical. I would get it if I would have canceled. This was suppose to be a present for my sons birthday. Ruined his day. especially when we saw so many other boats on the lake that day. I have reported this company and site to authorities and the media. Also, did not respond to my email after they canceled, didn't even offer to re schedule.
