Everyone must be wondering what the heck is this place? Well, it's a Chinese Herbal store. They have a Chinese Herbal Doctor on site. His examination isn't a traditional way. He sits across you, he would have you place your arm out onto a pillow & it looks like he's taking your pulse count. Well he is. He's reading you through your heartbeat & how ever your pulse is will tell him your ailments. Interesting.... all from your pulse! Once he confirms his reading, he will write a "prescription" for you to get it filled at the store right outside the office. They will measure the ingredients by a very traditional scale & using brass weights to counter balance. Once it's filled they will give you specific instructions on how to cook & prepare the herbal concoction. End result... A dark, concentrated liquid that is bitter as heck! Bottoms up! (Heard that they can make it into a pill form but not as effective as the liquid form) The store also sells ingredients for herbal soups, nuts, ginseng, snacks, spices, cupping sets, dried squids, dried scallops & shrimps, Asian & Euro topical creams & hair dyes. They do have some fresh vegetables & root vegetables as well. Lots of other interesting items there. Parking is in the back. Anything under $20 is Cash Only!

Lots of Asian herbs and medicine for sale

Found the medicine I use in my teenage years here, amazing. Watermelon frost, the cure I use when I was in my 20's, I'm now 72.

Miao Yun isn't one of those flashy modern markets, it's the kind of place people recommend because the quality is consistently amazing and the owner genuinely cares. & the owner is the sweetest uncle ever! He's attentive, warm, remembers preferences, gives great recommendations, and somehow always steers me toward something good. I usually ask for fattier cuts of meat and he NEVER misses. The quality of the sliced meats here is honestly better and fresher than what I've gotten from a lot of larger Asian markets in SGV, and the pricing is better too. This is basically my one-stop shop for hot pot night. Frozen sliced meats, fish balls, condiments & sauces, noodles, etc... the store has pretty much everything you need. The selection is great and it's easy to walk out with your entire spread planned. Also worth mentioning: plenty of parking in the outdoor lot, which makes stocking up way less stressful. What keeps me coming back though isn't just the quality or pricing - it's the service. In an area with endless food options, it's rare to find a place that still feels this personal. You can tell the owner truly cares that you leave happy. One of my favorite hidden gems in SGV and a place I'll keep coming back to forever

I could have sworn that they used to have more limited hours, but either way, it's a solid European market. Aside from being a market, I think they also do shipping services to Europe too if you have friends or family there. Sizeable market with lots of snacks, sweets, dried goods, some ice cream, frozen food, drinks, alcohol, cooking and baking goods, and much more. You can easily spend a good amount of time perusing the wide variety of food that they have here. Great place to get tinned fish, chocolates, or crackers and cookies or candies if you're trying to find a quick gift. My boyfriend got some alcohol and some canned goods here. I got some caramel vanilla ice cream. Reminded me of the drumstick ice cream, but creamier and less "heavy" tasting if that makes sense. A juxtaposition, I'm sure. Shop had customers come in and out the entire time, but it was never super busy. Worker was on the phone I think with other customers, but was friendly either way. Ambiance was casual, a bit aged, not super fancy, but does the job.

Think of this store as a steroid version of Daiso and MINISO. They are currently rapidly expanding across 20+ states plus Washington, DC. As of April 2026, there is another location in Anaheim and another location in Rancho Cucamonga. [Parking]: There is a free indoor parking garage behind the store. [Merchandise]: Plushies, blind boxes, claw machines, anime-themed utensils / cups / mugs, body care products, clothing accessories, Japanese snacks, Gundam figures, etc. They place a strong focus on Sanrio characters. The plushies in the claw machines were not as impressive as their blind box selection, but it only costs 1 coin per play ($1 per coin). There is also a display of anime action figures near the store entrance. [Gift card]: Load $100 and get a $5 bonus. Load $300 and get a $20 bonus. Load $500 and get a $50 bonus. There is also an exclusive membership that earns 1 point for every $1 spent. Redeem 50 points for $1 in savings. [Conclusion]: I like Ebisu Life Store much better than Daiso and MINISO as I get the best of both worlds in one shop. I would not recommend trying the claw machines here as all 5 of my attempts ($1 per attempt) failed miserably.

Having gone to mitsuwa and Tokyo central countless times, Tozai really hits the spot when it comes to affordable Japanese food that actually tastes good. My only complaint is that their rice seems a bit overcooked. It's too mushy for my liking. Teriyaki chicken - extremely generous with the rice. The teriyaki chicken actually has a char taste to it which adds so much flavor to the chicken. There isn't too much teriyaki sauce, which I like. Tempura bento - really loved the tempura in here. Everything was fried just right. The batter is crispy and light. It's not greasy at all. The side dishes were delicious. The fried wontons were good but the fried shumai had a bit of a porky taste to it. California rolls - probably the best I've had in a Japanese market. The rice actually has a slight vinegar taste to it, which is lacking at other places. Croquette - it's meatless but still so good. It's potato only but has an occasional cheesy fragrance to it. Definitely coming back again for the food
