Having gone to mitsuwa and Tokyo central countless times, Tozai really hits the spot when it comes to affordable Japanese food that actually tastes good. My only complaint is that their rice seems a bit overcooked. It's too mushy for my liking. Teriyaki chicken - extremely generous with the rice. The teriyaki chicken actually has a char taste to it which adds so much flavor to the chicken. There isn't too much teriyaki sauce, which I like. Tempura bento - really loved the tempura in here. Everything was fried just right. The batter is crispy and light. It's not greasy at all. The side dishes were delicious. The fried wontons were good but the fried shumai had a bit of a porky taste to it. California rolls - probably the best I've had in a Japanese market. The rice actually has a slight vinegar taste to it, which is lacking at other places. Croquette - it's meatless but still so good. It's potato only but has an occasional cheesy fragrance to it. Definitely coming back again for the food

The parking lot is huge but still seems inadequate for the number of cars/patrons in the area. The GW Supermarket is "open" so there's no walls separating market from other business stalls. The area has a bakery, trinket shops and a food court that well liked by customers. I see streams of people weekdays and weekends. What I liked was finding some special edition Yeo Chrysanthemum drinks linking to Chinese New Year (very cute) and sales on lucky red envelopes. The Great Wall is smaller than other Asian supermarkets in the area, which makes everything feel really cramped and crowded. The aisle is tight so movement with two - three carts can be challenging. The selection of variety of anything is limited so I can see the lower-than-normal rating. Overall, GW calls the basics and gives the community another market option rather than driving further into SGV.

I dropped by for some meat, green onions and bean sprouts. I checked out and asked to purchase a bag since I have a tiny tote only. I paid with my ebt card and then the lady said I owe her 0.20 cents for the bag before she will give me one. I did not have change and handed her a $5 and she won't take it or give me a bag. So after staring at each other, I just had put the meat in my tote and carried the other two items. So make sure you have exact change if you want bags....or remember to bring your own. I need to remember as I am super forgetful.

Their menu offers a wide variety of dishes with customizable spice levels, and everything we've tried has been so flavorful and delicious. Some of my favorites are their bhindi masala, aloo gobi, and butter chicken. Half of the store is also a market with a great selection of snacks, and we always love picking up a few treats whenever we visit. If you're in the area, I highly recommend giving Bhanu a try.

The food came out incredibly fast after ordering. The masala dosa is perfect and how I expect a good dosa to taste (and for a great price too). The chicken thali was delicious with so much variety. We got level 8 spice and didn't really taste any spice in the thali. We got a chicken biryani with level 8 spice, and it was definitely spicy and worked well for us. The biryani was my least favorite dish--it was a bit too wet and the flavors just didn't remind me of biryani. I happily shopped around in their store after and found affordable spices and kulfi. I love this spot and am excited to return to try out more items in their restaurant and store. Btw they offer a discount if you're playing with cash!

Miao Yun isn't one of those flashy modern markets, it's the kind of place people recommend because the quality is consistently amazing and the owner genuinely cares. & the owner is the sweetest uncle ever! He's attentive, warm, remembers preferences, gives great recommendations, and somehow always steers me toward something good. I usually ask for fattier cuts of meat and he NEVER misses. The quality of the sliced meats here is honestly better and fresher than what I've gotten from a lot of larger Asian markets in SGV, and the pricing is better too. This is basically my one-stop shop for hot pot night. Frozen sliced meats, fish balls, condiments & sauces, noodles, etc... the store has pretty much everything you need. The selection is great and it's easy to walk out with your entire spread planned. Also worth mentioning: plenty of parking in the outdoor lot, which makes stocking up way less stressful. What keeps me coming back though isn't just the quality or pricing - it's the service. In an area with endless food options, it's rare to find a place that still feels this personal. You can tell the owner truly cares that you leave happy. One of my favorite hidden gems in SGV and a place I'll keep coming back to forever

I could have sworn that they used to have more limited hours, but either way, it's a solid European market. Aside from being a market, I think they also do shipping services to Europe too if you have friends or family there. Sizeable market with lots of snacks, sweets, dried goods, some ice cream, frozen food, drinks, alcohol, cooking and baking goods, and much more. You can easily spend a good amount of time perusing the wide variety of food that they have here. Great place to get tinned fish, chocolates, or crackers and cookies or candies if you're trying to find a quick gift. My boyfriend got some alcohol and some canned goods here. I got some caramel vanilla ice cream. Reminded me of the drumstick ice cream, but creamier and less "heavy" tasting if that makes sense. A juxtaposition, I'm sure. Shop had customers come in and out the entire time, but it was never super busy. Worker was on the phone I think with other customers, but was friendly either way. Ambiance was casual, a bit aged, not super fancy, but does the job.

Do not assume that something will have the same taste and texture as what you remember from hometown just because it looks similar. I once bought frozen razor clams that turned out to be chewy, smelly, and almost impossible to chew. Another time, I bought a bag of frozen green mussels. They had exactly the same shape and color as the ones I usually bought from Chinese markets, but they were not cooked. Once defrosted, they practically melted into water. Vietnamese markets also sell many kinds of fish by weight. Most of them are good, but you need real experience when buying raw seafood. Otherwise, it is very easy to waste money. Thuan Phat is a typical Vietnamese market in this sense. You can get most of the ingredients a Chinese family needs. Their fried or dried pork skin is actually much better than what I have found in most Chinese grocery stores. But again, only buy what you know. You need to know the quality, and you need to know how to process it. This Thuan Phat also has several tanks and a full seafood counter for live seafood, including crabs, tilapia, and other fish. The prices are lower than at many Chinese markets, and honestly, the quality is not bad at all.

Most recently, my Mom and I came to checkout the sugarcane juice vendor. We got ourselves one large cup with ice for $7. It is $12 if you want no ice. You have to pay more money if you want all juice. Sugarcane juice tasted refreshing and sweet. I would get it again with no ice next time. I may just bring my own ice or drink it as is.
