The teriyaki chicken actually has a char taste to it which adds so much flavor to the chicken. There isn't too much teriyaki sauce, which I like. Tempura bento - really loved the tempura in here. Everything was fried just right. The batter is crispy and light. It's not greasy at all. The side dishes were delicious. The fried wontons were good but the fried shumai had a bit of a porky taste to it. California rolls - probably the best I've had in a Japanese market. The rice actually has a slight vinegar taste to it, which is lacking at other places. Croquette - it's meatless but still so good. It's potato only but has an occasional cheesy fragrance to it. The Great Wall is smaller than other Asian supermarkets in the area, which makes everything feel really cramped and crowded. The aisle is tight so movement with two - three carts can be challenging. The selection of variety of anything is limited so I can see the lower-than-normal rating. Looked for German Beers and browsed the store looking at the teas and for Pierogies. No German beer so I grabbed some Czech and Polish Lagers for the parents to try. As for the Pierogie front, I would need to go back and double check but they might have ran out of premium flavors and only had Pulmonies left, but even that had interest flavors, like beef and veal. They carry Milka chocolate in several different flavors so I need to come back for a super snack haul with other interesting things to try. They have a nice selection of tinned fish, but I wasn't able to find any shellfish. The store had all sorts of sauces, seasonings, soup bases and ingredients for cooking and baking. They carry a wide variety of meats that looked good as a snack, for a charcuterie board or as a breakfast food item for rice porridge with the tinned fish. All in all, it was a good chance to browse some of the stuff that places like Super King might not carry or that Aldi or Trader Joes doesn't have.

I once bought frozen razor clams that turned out to be chewy, smelly, and almost impossible to chew. Another time, I bought a bag of frozen green mussels. They had exactly the same shape and color as the ones I usually bought from Chinese markets, but they were not cooked. Once defrosted, they practically melted into water. Vietnamese markets also sell many kinds of fish by weight. Most of them are good, but you need real experience when buying raw seafood. Otherwise, it is very easy to waste money. Thuan Phat is a typical Vietnamese market in this sense. You can get most of the ingredients a Chinese family needs. Their fried or dried pork skin is actually much better than what I have found in most Chinese grocery stores. But again, only buy what you know. You need to know the quality, and you need to know how to process it. This Thuan Phat also has several tanks and a full seafood counter for live seafood, including crabs, tilapia, and other fish. The prices are lower than at many Chinese markets, and honestly, the quality is not bad at all.

There are individual merchandise and food vendors along the front inside of store. They carry many different international dry goods, perishable food items, fresh produce, meat and seafood, frozen items, and so much more. You can spend hours shopping here. Most recently, my Mom and I came to checkout the sugarcane juice vendor. We got ourselves one large cup with ice for $7. It is $12 if you want no ice. You have to pay more money if you want all juice. Sugarcane juice tasted refreshing and sweet. I would get it again with no ice next time. I may just bring my own ice or drink it as is.
