We have eaten here several times. Today we were treated like we were not welcome. The server( who was our server the previous visits) never brought us water, which we asked for, and we could hear him talking to other employees about us. I asked the server if they were all from the same family and he said they were all from the same church family. The food was good. The man who cooks the food is great. The seafood is so fresh and plentiful! We get the raw and grilled oysters every time along with the shrimp with Old Bay seasoning and are in heaven!! This is one of the best finds in the Cherry Grove Beach area! The food...particularly the oysters which can be enjoyed raw, or steamed, or baked--and the crab legs, the shrimp, the delicious gumbo soup, and the homemade key lime pie for dessert--are as good as any you'll find on the entire Grand Strand. And the service is down-home friendly. A relaxing fun atmosphere with live music. Holy Moly is this place special. Came here a week ago with my in-laws on their recommendation and it was delightful. The Red Rooster was addictively briny and spicy. Oysters Rockefeller were so fresh and full of flavor. Steamed shrimp were phenomenal. What made this place though was the atmosphere and service. Talked with who I assume to be the owners about their clam chowder because my son, who has Celiac, was joining us later in the week. She offered to make him a special batch, asked when we were coming, and reviewed the list of ingredients with me. Showed back up today and she was ready, and brought him a second bowl of specially made gluten chowder. On our second visit, we shared Oysters Rockefeller, and raw oysters, more Red Roosters, delicious gumbo, and steamed shrimp. It was all incredibly fresh and delicious. Our daughter, who is anti-seafood, declared it one of the best burgers she's ever had. We will be back any time we are in the area! read more

Back in the area and Tailgate was our first dinner spot. Still graciously friendly folks serving wonderfully fresh food (and the Rooster will still clear the sinuses!). After the Rooster, a cup of gumbo followed by a dozen raw oysters topped off by lemon pie!!! A single vocalist playing music of the 60s and 70s just added to the experience. Restricted hours may make it tough to get back for a second visit this trip.... but we are going to try! Back one more time. Husband and I went last night because of all the rave reviews! Arrived right at 5 and sat outside as the evening was perfect. We had so much fun listening to live music from 60s-70s! Service was excellent considering how busy the place was inside and outside. Tried oysters 3-ways; raw, grilled and Rockefeller. Super fresh and delicious. We also shared clam chowder, shrimp salad and hubby finished with a slice of key lime pie. All delicious! Reasonably priced food and a great casual hangout. We ordered half a dozen oysters and got nine. The pickles, the soup, the sauce-- everything was perfect. They had an oldies style jukebox that was playing friendly music. Ate here Saturday night! Fantastic food!! Nicest kindest staff around. Make you feel right at home. Oysters are plump and cooked to perfection. They shuck them for you at the bar. I had the best clam chowder I have EVER eaten and I am a chowder snob! Coldest beer on beach they keep it in ice!!! These are local people trying really hard to make a go of this. We had gotten the clam chowder (delicious), gumbo was great, we all had gotten a mix of the grilled and raw oysters. We were traveling from Tennessee so those were a must have before we left.
