I was looking for a local tailor that had fair prices- it really helps that she displays her work on her instagram so you can really see the quality. She was on the preferred list from the bridal shop I purchased my wedding dress. I had her alter my wedding dress (tighten bust area, bustle, hem) and traditional Chinese dress (shorten sleeves, add bust cups, add darts to make the dress more fitted), and she was able to do it all very efficiently. I also had a last minute decision hem the dress and fortunately did so because Courtney discovered the hem was uneven. When you reach out to her she provides you a range of costs (min to max) so you have a ballpark about the costs of the alterations. Mine ended up being around the middle. I gave Courtney a list of all the alterations my dress needed. She sent me a detailed estimate via email and I appreciated her honesty about cost and timeline. Besides their raving reviews, I was also able to see the quality of work that Courtney does by looking at her Instagram, which really set her apart from other tailors. Being able to see what a great job she does, I knew I wanted her to be the only one to touch my wedding dress! So much so that I started alterations 3 months early just so I could get in before her maternity leave! From the start, it was a very easy process and Courtney was able to give me a quote breakdown with a range of what the price would be from lowest to highest possible. I ended up getting a hem, train shortened, bodice taken in all down the sides and to the waist, detatchable straps added, bustle, and she fixed a few broken buttons and trimmed the cups in the dress. My ceremony was strapless and that thing did not move or budge off my chest. If you need alterations done, you won't be disappointed by the detail and care she puts in. Note to brides, your seamstress can only perfect your gown so long as you speak up and say exactly what you need done or if there's adjustments that she pinned but you want something different or tweaked. It's okay to say what you need, otherwise they cannot read your mind. Also, ALWAYS bring your shoes and take the time to test out underwear/undergarment options. TLDR review: Courtney's attention to detail is what makes her an amazing seamstress for your wedding dress! She has fair prices and does QUALITY work! Detailed review: Where do I even start with Courtney?? First off, she literally saved my dress. My dress came with weird brown rust spots. I worked with the bridal shop to send it back to the designer for a new one. The new one came with even MORE spots. I had it dry cleaned and though that took off most of the spots (and the designer paid for it), there were still some spots left and I had just given up at that point and just accepted my dress will have small brown spots. In comes Courtney to the rescue! She came into the bridal shop with five (yes, FIVE!) different kinds of ivory threads to make sure to color match my dress and hand sewed over EACH spot. When I got my dress back, it was literally spotless!! Her meticulous attention to detail is exactly what I needed for my wedding dress alternations and I knew I needed to book her. For my alterations, she did the following: strap adjustment, hem, added push-up cups, and created a custom bustle. I absolutely hate the look of any of the traditional bustles because I feel it takes away from the original look of the dress and tbh I just think it doesn't look flattering lol. She created a custom 9-point bustle that kept the A-line silhouette of my dress while still showing all the lace details! Literally gorgeous! (I will update with a pic of the bustle after my wedding!) After the intial fiasco with my dress, Courtney was the one who made me excited about my dress again! Lol When I bought my dress at Bridal Elegance Studio in Torrance, I was completely honest with the consultant about my picky personality. She immediately recommended Courtney for the alterations on my wedding dress. Courtney did an exceptional job explaining the details of her process, giving suggestions as the obvious expert and easing my anxiety about the most important dress I'll ever wear. She did an absolute phenomenal job with all of the alterations which included making princess seams (I think that's what they're called) to make my bottom look better in my fitted gown. She also made alterations to the front and side of the gown which included lifting the delicate lace, which I can only imagine is a tedious and meticulous process. She also created an absolutely stunning bustle for the very long train that was not only functional, but it accentuated the lace details. On another note, Courtney was very friendly and accommodating as I had a very tight schedule.
