Good roast, but served up with a high dose of attitude when skim milk was requested for coffee. Every other type of trendy cream available (almond, soy, coconut, etc), but non-fat was an apparent no-no. Not the best balance of craftsmanship and Oregon hospitality. The coffee here is great but it is definitely a place to grab and go for 2 reasons. First off the noise level is less than ideal. It is not a place to work or to have a conversation. Second, the service is weird. I placed an order BUT I got my order after the 2 orders after me. You might say it is because mine required steamed milk BUT so did the ones after me. Also, while I had to grab my order from the counter another patron was served hers. I'm not sure what's up but the preferential treatment to some not others is not cool. Used to love this place´s almond/cashewmilk replacement. However, the last time I was here my latte tasted awfully sweet. Turns out they are sweetening their only milk altnernative. I don't have words to express how great tailored is. The only "bad thing" i could ever say is the price. But REMEMBER you get what you pay for and at tailored you get perfectly made expresso with a rich flavor and if you are anything like me who is a non milk drinker trying to get you to the perfect creamy sub was almost impossible until I got the pleasure of trying their homemade almond cashew milk. I was in Eugene for three days and ended up coming here three times. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this place on the first day. The coffee wasn't just good, it was shockingly fantastic. They made the best latte I've ever had. The space is small but nicely laid out. It's a great place to read. The staff were pleasant, the music was good. Really wanted to like it, as we had been traveling several days and had been unable to find decent coffee. Place was nice, if a bit trendy. Service was fine. We ordered a drip and a latte and went back to the car to continue our journey. 10 mins later, we stopped to pour the coffee out. It had a severe sour flavor which seemed to get worse after several sips, making it undrinkable. If we lived nearby, I'd try it again, thinking perhaps they were having an off day. I chose this place based on the reviews. While I wasn't disappointed I was a little taken a back by a few things. This is not a cozy coffee shop environment. Really this reminds me of the minimalist (read elitist) coffee shop approach I saw springing up in LA/SF around a decade ago (with the toast to come with it). So minimalist that you need a decoder to understand the menu that is bare bones. Minimalist customer service to come with it too! They don't have cream or half and half and not as much variety in espresso drinks as I am used to seeing. HOWEVER, I got their drip coffee instead and thought it was definitely NOT over roasted which a lot of places are guilty of. It was a yummy cup of coffee. My two companions got espresso drinks and while the foam work was lovely the drinks themselves didn't shine. I won't avoid this place. I just wasn't impressed. read more

I went in to tailored the other day, the morning after my wife made me sleep on the couch for burning the steak. I just wanted something happy in my life, and I heard that this coffee shop played upbeat music with great espresso. It was, in a word, delightful. The brunette woman that served me reminded me of the first woman i ever dated, down to the blouse she wore. She served my latte lukewarm, just the way I like it. I sat alone, and was not disturbed, again, just the way i like it. I managed to stay there long enough to read "Eat Pray Love" in its entirety. The plot line is slow, but the heartwarming story is, in another word, delightful. I stayed long enough for my wife's hellish hot temper to cool, and when I went home we made steak again, but this time, SHE burnt it, lol!! read more

The worst coffee I have had in Eugene. Me and the husband have been looking for a new local coffee staple and have tried almost every coffee house in Eugene now and this one has been agreed upon by both of us as the worst. Not sure where all the good reviews are from but to each their own I guess. We gave it a few tries to see if we just had a one off experience but now after 3 times I believe its just bad coffee. The drinks always have an off almost burnt taste and it seems like they don't stir drinks. My husband got caramel movha the dirst time and said he couldn't taste any flavoring then got to the very bottom and it was a solid layer of caramel. Plus it was super loud every time we were in there. The first 2 times so much so we could barely hear the person taking orders and he could barely hear us. The 3rd time we could hear the guy but he was very rude and seemed annoyed we were there getting coffee at 11am in a sunday. It felt like he thought he was doing us a favor taking our order and we said thank you after getting our drinks the barista making them just rolled his eyes and said "sure". Another women inside also mentioned how rude the 2 men were so it wasn't just us. It is a very nice looking shop and it seems like they are going after the younger college/hipster crowd. Felt comfortable inside and would be a nice place to get coffee and read a paper except the coffee was awful. 5 stars for venue, -1 stars for coffee. read more

Stumbled upon this coffee shop through Yelp and my husband and were not disappointed! We got two large drip coffees and we just so happened to come on the day that they were rolling out their newest coffee, the Kenyan. It was so nutty and unique in flavor, we had to buy a bag. Visited here after seeing the great reviews, delicious looking toast and homemade cashew milk. The space is definitely awesome. Great seating for working, reasonably comfortable, clean and a cool design. The service was solid being friendly but I wouldn't say it was exceptional. The cashew milk cortado was delicious although I normally drink milk so I can't say I could compare it to much, but I definitely enjoyed it. Followed that up with an espresso, but it wasn't in line with my personal tastes. Tailored opted for the long shots, focusing on bright, clean espresso. As I've written enough times on Yelp before, that style isn't for me. I prefer the earthy, sweet, and rich espressos that are generally pulled much shorter and loaded with crema. I will admit that of the longer shot style, this was one of the better being very balanced and managing to hold a clean finish (which even the most reputable, award winning shops like G&B in LA fail at IMO). So while I wouldn't order an espresso here, I just can't fault them for personal taste as they executed so well (hence the 5 stars - rarity for me and coffeeshops!). OMG- what amazing coffee (and mate latte)!! My husband and I were staying the night in Eugene and looked over reviews to find the best coffee in town. Everything we found pointed us to Tailored- I was especially interested in tasting their nut milk from almonds and cashews. We both ordered a mocha- I like a bittersweet- ie not too sweet mocha and this one was the best I've ever had. I consider myself a huge coffee snob and have been known to poor out a coffee if it's not up to par- Life's too short to drink bad coffee, yes? Not only do they make their own nut-milk, but their sister store makes a Chochlate ganache that is soooooo absolutely delicious- all of the reviews I read were spot on- this place is really special. So special, in fact, that my husband and I drove all the way across town that afternoon to try the Matcha Latte before we hit the road to go home. It was also extremely delicious! I think their nut milk must be part of the secret- it is very smooth and frothy. My husband said he would go out of his way to get off the freeway on our next trip north and drive into Eugene just to get some of these crazy good concoctions. Went to this place for the first time today. They have been open four months I think and for all of you who enjoy Brail's Espresso; this is an offshoot establishment by the same folks. The best part of this place is that they have their own roaster in house and are hard at work getting their beans roasted up to their standards. They were roasting some sample batches the entire time and it was great to hear the cracking and smell the fresh roast pungency while they were cooling. In the meantime I had a cup of house coffee (a Guatemalan from Heart Roasters in Portland for those interested), it was delicious. I had a double espresso on the way out, twas really acidic but fresh. Pour over's and the like are available as well. It's basically the Brail's vibe with urban touches and in house attention to quality and freshness. The decor and the like is swanky, definitely not a lot of room to 'sprawl' out your stuff on a table though. They carry some pastries from Noisette and made some delicious looking avocado toast for a guy next to me. The barista Matt was pleasant and attentive, my water glass was re-visited. Overall, I consider this to be the best local spot for a quality cup of coffee or espresso in Eugene. I can't wait to give some of the in house beans a try down the road. read more
