A charming local cafe! We've tried the matcha, hojicha, yuzu matcha spritz, miso honey latte, and chai lattes and all were yummy. The quality of their ingredients is good - probably the best I've found in the Eugene/Springfield area. Their vegan cinnamon roll is also good - rich/sweet frosting that balances well with the pastry that isn't dry and is sweet enough that makes you keep going in for the next bite. They have a bright, rustic interior with high ceilings, a variety of indoor/outdoor seating, and surrounded by a few local businesses (spice & tea, antique, plant stores). Service is fast, servers are friendly. This is a good place to wfh. My only qualm is outlets are hard to come by. read more

There are so many coffee shops in Eugene.  How to choose?  While sitting in the parking lot of the Owen Rose Garden, I perused on my phone.  How about Farmers Union?  People seem to like it, it's pretty close, and most importantly it's still open on a Sunday afternoon. Some things are just meant to be.  I tend to gravitate towards coffee roasters first, then to regular coffee shops after that.  Stating the obvious, excellent coffee can be found at either.  If I've never been to a coffee shop before, my usual order is a cortado (whole milk) and a drip coffee-black (or "no room", as some might say), even on a hot day.   The cortado was very good with the requisite latte art.  After I was done, I was still trying to sip the foam at the bottom, hoping for another taste.  I guess it was really very good.  I strayed from my usual order of drip coffee-black, and I got an iced coffee since I had been out in the sun for a bit.  Okay, yeah, I wimped out.  The iced coffee (La Pradera) was also very good. I went back to the counter and bought a bag of whole La Pradera beans to take home.  I have to admit, I also got a Farmer's Union t-shirt because it had an old school Godzilla.  I have no relation to the shop, really! read more

Inside they're are several tables and chairs and can accommodate large groups. The private patio also has a few table and chair sets for up to 2 people each. If I lived up here, I would definitely come here every morning and have a great cup of coffee. Everything here was super yummy and I believe all house made. The coffee of the day was the Cultivator Blend. It was so flavorful, I enjoyed it black to savor the roast. Everyone working there were all so nice and personable. They were very open to making small talk, which I loved. I didn't think about it, but I should have picked up a couple bags of coffee while there. I figured that I wouldn't use it because I have a Bruvi and Nespresso at home. But now that I'm home, I realized that, I should have bought the coffee and then get a new machine! Super good artisan roaster in the heart of Eugene. Not only was the coffee excellent, the baked goods made for a wonderful breakfast as well. All ingredients are thoughtfully prepared and lean into healthy choices and home baked goods. My daughter had an iced latte with caramel and vanilla and loved it, and my more "purist" Cortado was rich and delicious. I also had the breakfast biscuit with chicken sausage, egg and cheddar and I could barely get my mouth around it. It was filling but the biscuit itself was flaky and unbelievably good in that way that homemade biscuits are. You can even choose between vegan biscuits and the buttermilk biscuit we had which is a nice touch. Truly recommend coming here before you head out to the bigger more well known mass market places. read more

Super cute coffee shop. They have a bunch of adorable decorations and machinery where they roast their beans. Vibes are great for catching up with a friend or studying. Their service is always great and the employees are friendly. The drinks and food generally come out pretty quickly. It's usually busy tho, so be prepared for a bit of a longer line at their peak hours. My go-to is an iced latte with their complimentary simple syrup. I'd say it is of the best lattes in town. My boyfriend always gets a matcha latte, and he ranks it among the top 3 in Eugene. I will note that the breakfast sandwich wasn't good -- I don't know if I just got unlucky the one day I got it or what but it was almost inedible. It's a busy space...but remarkably quiet. It's the kind of space the serious laptop posse would come to avoid chatter and do our hybrid work when we need to be outside the home. There's an honest to god PINK bean roaster going, and something that's hard not to love right away: the high ceils and the moving fans, like you are in an airy plantation space. In front of me, two kids could name the muffin -- Peach and Cardamon -- that they wanted, while their dad ordered a BLT. They had steamers to wash those muffins down. So I could see the appeal for coming here if I still had young ones. Love that they have an espresso tonic -- 1 shot + sparkling tonic carefully poured together by the barista $7. And someone here loves Grace and Frankie series aka the Lily Tomlin & Jane Fonda combo b/c two of the three cookies are named after the grand dames. The Jane Fonda is the vegan version (obvs) with pecans and double chocolate chips...and there was some subtle saltiness in a bite that didn't hurt. Bonus: next door is a unique herbal apothecary, Mountain Rose, that one could wander to for a quick break -- like if the phone rang and a conversation needed to happen. Less than the ideal abundance of strategic outlets might be my one lament. But then again: fewer outlets = built in obsolescence to keep those of us who might hunker down here all day on the rent of a single cup of joe and cookie from overstaying our welcome. So there's yin to the yang of that situ. Looking forward to returning again to give the Lily Tomlinson a try. There's parking outside but be careful because if you go past a two hour limit you'll wind up getting a $68 ticket which will suck. That was the only downside of the visit. read more

I've been coming to Farmers Union Coffee since 2020, and it's always my first stop whenever I'm in Eugene. I was so happy to see how busy and thriving the café was when I visited today after about a year away! Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to what I've always loved about this spot. I was told the wait for breakfast would be around 10 minutes, but it ended up taking 25+ minutes for my biscuit to come out and when it did, it was dry and the cheese was burnt hard into the egg. My Latte, which is usually my favorite part of the visit, tasted watery and my gingerbread chai was cold by the time my food came out. I truly love this place and hope this was just an off day, because I'd really like to keep making Farmers Union my go-to whenever I'm in town. I still give 4 starts just because it's been such a solid spot the last 5 years. read more

This was the perfect breakfast spot for the morning. As my first coffee shop in Eugene I was quite pleased and it's clear that much of the locals are too as it was very popular! Drinks: the Padovana latte was delicious! With notes of cardamom, orange, and honey, the sweet and citrus complimented the dark coffee flavors excellently. The latte had some sort of orange zest on the top which was a beautiful aesthetic touch. Food: the breakfast sandwich tasty albeit not what I was expecting. The biscuit was very "well done." Not burnt but toeing the line as it was very crispy and not the soft toasted biscuit that I was expecting (still good, just a different flavor profile!) the egg was also in an interesting form. We come to Eugene every now and then for a family staycation, and this was our third time getting coffee from here. This past Thanksgiving weekend, the male barista consistently had a bad attitude and wasn't very pleasant at all. I understand it gets busy, but I used to be a barista too--and even when things get crazy, you can still crack a smile and answer simple questions with a better demeanor. I came to Farmers Union looking for a nice place to study and I wasn't disappointed! Their setup in this warehouse space makes for a surprisingly cozy cafe! It was really cute and fostered a great atmosphere for getting work done! I will say I think $10.50 is way too much to pay for a grilled cheese though. The sandwich was okay but not really worth that much money. Their latte, on the other hand, was great and steamed to a perfect temperature to be drinkable immediately which I loved! Wait, I haven't reviewed this cafe yet? Farmers Union was recommended to me when I first moved to Eugene as the place to get a good craft latte. It's now become one of my favorite spots. First, the coffee beans are roasted in the shop. The roaster is there a few days a week and always friendly with customers when he's not busy. I had the chance to talk with him and he's a really nice guy who loves coffee as much as I do. Lol. Maaaybe more. Next, the lattes are always tasty. They use quality ingredients along with their house roasted beans. I love the lavender latte with oat milk or a classic vanilla latte with almond milk. For food, they have a couple of vegan options which I'm super grateful for! And they're good too. The perfect small bite if you're hanging around for a while. That brings me to my last point, the ambiance, or as we say these days, the vibes. I love the energy of this place. It's great for studying, working, reading, or meeting with a friend! I was going to Morning Glory aka pure veg brunch spot that I love yet line was super long and wait likely exceeded 40 min so was going to head out of town. I got turned on to this spot by my Lyft driver and so glad I did. This cozy cafe has amazing vegetable forward vegan sandwiches. I went with the V and H aka in house made hummus sandwich with heaps of amazing Pacific NW grown veggies on whole wheat sourdough and opted to have it with a mixed green salad. It hit the spot. My review should be a 2 for service, a 4 for ambience and coffee. Being graduation week in Eugene we knew it would be busy at any coffee house we would visit and we were correct. However that does not justify poor service. The person at the register has a total deadpan face and when I inquired about getting a bag for the $50 of merchandise I purchased from their shop I was given a blank stare. While waiting for my order another staffer looked at me and said in a snooty manner "I'd like to inject that we really don't do bags here". Ok then. However when my son purchased merchandise he was immediately offered a complimentary cup of coffee (which I was not). I chose not to say anything as I envisioned a not kind response. Additionally I overheard the baristas saying it was so busy they had no idea what they were making. The interior and outdoor area of this place is charming and offered lots of seating. The gift shop had some really cool items as well. My coffee beverage was great and my daughter said her chai was amazing. I don't typically have a biscuit but took a bite of my sons and it was one of the best I've had. I wished I'd ordered it instead of the somewhat dry frittata I had. I do hope management reads this review regarding the service as it greatly impacted our experience. We spent over $100 and left with a somewhat bitter taste.
