I have visited the lounge before when I lived in Charlotte, and I enjoyed my time previously. I was in Charlotte for the holiday, and my partner and I decided to visit. I did not like how the man at the front looked me and my partner up and down as if we did not belong when we walked in. We asked him a couple questions regarding the available cigars and other questions when we first arrived and it was as if he did not want to help us. This frustrated me even more as I watched him interact and willingly help those that came in after us. I am not sure if I will return. As a person of color, it's frustrating and disappointing to see another person of color treat you like you don't belong and as if you are below them. read more

Ok. This place has so much potential. Maybe I am just a snob about my cocktails - but I'm old and at this point, I know what I like. First, you have to pay $10 each for a one day pass...ok, the last place I didn't but ok. The cigars are good - I had a Plasencia. The cocktails: OMG. Ok, the guy - super nice...but has no idea how to make a drink. Moscow Mule - no mint, some weird liquor in it and simple syrup. Terrible. The gin Martini. I like it with a vermouth wash. He poured the room temp gin in a glass when I asked for it stirred, then poured it in my warm glass. No ice. When he discovered he forgot the vermouth, he poured my din in a glass, then got the year old vermouth (not refrigerated) poured in the not cold glass, swirled it around, then poured in my cocktail glass. Washed his hands, didn't get to dry them off and poured the non cold gin in the glass with the water from his hands dripping into my glass as he poured. I asked for a twist (lemon peel) - he took a lemon wedge and twisted lemon juice in it. Total. Disaster. BUT super nice guy. I don't blame him. NO TRAINING. Eeesh. read more

So my reviews are always based on how a lounge feel as a solo female smoker. I am in town from the DC area and this lounge came recommended. I asked for a mild leaf cigar and was offered flavored cigars. The only two bar stools were initially full so I grabbed a table. Once I changed to the bar it took my one star up to a 3 store. The bartender.. brittni has a great personality and was able to give me some insight on Charlotte. The space is not made for lounge conversation. All in all, I wouldn't recommend for a solo female smoker at the time that I came. Maybe a little later. I'm here for the weekend and have no plans to return. read more

I was visiting Charlotte during Memorial Day weekend and was looking for something to do downtown. I was out looking for the closest CVS when I came across Tailored Smoke Cigar Lounge. When I look inside, I was surprised to see so so many women enjoying cigars. It looked interesting, so I came back the next evening after dinner. I not sure why, but there is a $5.00 membership fee (something to do with the state), but it is good for a year. I am a novice with cigars, (a once in a blue moon thing) so I asked the gentleman manning the humidor about his selection and could he recommend something for me. He was very much like a sommelier asking what I like and what have I smoked before. I told him I wanted Crazy Alice cigar and told me to try a Sweet Jane, from the same family of cigars. So I had a Sweet Jane and Tennessee Honey with Ginger and sat down by myself on the patio. What I like most about Tailored Smoke is the ambiance. It was just chill. The next thing I know a couple was visiting from Detroit sitting next to me, and we began a conversation. They left, and a trio of gentlemen in town for a wedding was asked to sit by me, and we started a conversation. I was a woman sitting alone in a cigar bar and felt entirely at ease. You don't get that a lot these days. Tailored Smoke Cigar Lounge has a good selection of cigars, but they are more than cigars, they do cocktails as well. They are not just a beer, wine, and whiskey joint. It's very grown and sexy. The staff is terrific, knowledgeable about cigars and cocktails, and OUTSTANDING customer services. They hospitality is unrivaled. I also want to shout out the owner, Mr. Preston Gray for connecting me with some spots in the DC/Baltimore area. I wholeheartedly recommend Tailored Smoke Cigar Lounge. I start this off by saying I really wanted this to be a good lounge. I was in town for 4 days and it was really close to my hotel. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this place to anyone. There was one good thing- location. Located in the epicenter which is near a lot of hotels and restaurants. That ends the positive list. There is a $5 "membership" fee to get in.. which is not completely out of the norm in bigger cities and I had hopes of using the place several times over my stay.(which I did not) Once we got in, they tried to sell me $16 cigars of brands I have never heard of.. I know I am no expert, but I have been buying cigars for 5+ years and recognize most brands... We opted for a CAO italia for $9 which wasn't a horrible price.. but the cigar was! It was so dried out that it cracked and popped when you touched it. A few minutes after lighting the wrapper started coming off. This thing had not seen moisture in a LONG time! The guy at the bar was ok but the first three white wines my sister in law asked for they didn't have.. She was not asking for special brands.. she asked for Chardonnay, Pinot, and finally just asked for the house white and it was atrocious. Spend your money somewhere else read more

In my quest to add cigar aficionado to my list of experiences, I opted to give Tailored Smoke a try. As a cigar newbie, I must admit--the space has character. If for nothing else, I appreciate their decision to expand the lounge by moving to a new location in the Epicenter. The new space has a nice bar with garage style windows that open to the outdoor patio. There's reasonable ventilation in the space but the open air concept certainly helps. As first timers, we were greeted and welcomed by the owner. He took the time to introduce us to one of his staff who recommended a nice cigar for beginners as well as a brief tutorial. It's a small detail but it goes a long way with people who are new to learning cigars. I've had a better old-fashioned cocktail in town, but I like the atmosphere and staff enough to return. I was really super excited to try this place. Great location, fine cigar selection, good atmosphere and design. But this is a lounge, I went to hang for a while. And the bartender killed it for me. I'm a cigar smoker, I clearly enjoy the finer things. And this place carries fantastic liquors. But I urge you to please spend the money on a knowledgeable and engaging bartender. Came once with four people ~2 PM - had a great time and joined via membership Came again a few weeks later on a Friday ~3PM - myself, my buddy and our wives. Membership no good - they wanted a $25 cover charge per person. We did not know it was CIAA week - so they wanted a cover charge ($100 in total). Not one customer was in the place - we said we will come for one drink and a cigar - be out in 30 to 45 minutes (you have to buy cigars there - you cannot bring own cigars in). Still no go. 4 Drinks, 2 cigars would be ~$100 with tip. Does not make much business sense to us - plus a bit rude to the members. It's a nice location because it's uptown so there is a lot of foot traffic and restaurants in walking distance. Parking is challenging unless you want to pay to valet. I have always been able to find something on the street I just have to walk a few blocks. Their cigars are behind that bar so that makes choosing a hit difficult.
