I totally agree that Trails Inn Kennels is great. They provide quality care to both of my rescue animals. They fill a gap in a needed area of pet care. My dog is protective of her home, so I did not feel comfortable having a pet sitter come into our home to care for her. She is better served with boarding services, which are often unavailable at veterinary clinics. Also, my dog of 50 lbs. is not too large, but is large enough to be considered too large to be in most apartments. Also, she is a mix breed, which again disqualifies her from staying in most apartments. Trails Inn Kennels is able to care for her on a more-extended short-term basis. My cat requires special care as well. All of these concerns are no problem for Tails Inn Kennels. My dog and my cat get quality care at Trails Inn Kennels when I board them. Also, when my plans change constantly and last minute, the staff continues to be pleasant and understanding. They are always there to help me out with my pets. read more

We recently moved to the Rathdrum area and found ourselves without the help of family and friends to watch over our 4 "noisy" hounds while away on vacation. I spent a few weeks researching the area for a clean, warm, and welcoming kennel to board our four legged fur children. With an additional recommendation from the local veterinarian we choose Tails Inn Kennels and were very pleased with their service. When I first called, Donnie was friendly and knowledgeable and immediately invited us out to tour the facility. It was clean, well run, and Donnie was very clear about the dog's daily routines. We ended up changing our drop off time and both AnnDee and Donnie were very accommodating. They even allowed us to pick up our dogs before their normal hours of operation. My name is Biscuit and I am a very handsome Westie. My family keeps calling me cute, but please remember that I am HANDSOME! So my family and I all went down to Idaho for several days. Because they were going to Silverwood Theme Park one day and shopping another, they needed to find Doggie Daycare for me for those days. My Mom found Tails Inn in Rathdrum. I really loved AnnDee and Diana. They played with me LOTS and I had a yard to run around in. And when I got tired, I had my own place to chill out! I liked it so much that on the second day I was so excited that I forgot to say goodbye to my family. I don't remember much after they picked me up both days cause I really needed a good long nap! We took our two dogs to Tails Inn several weeks ago for an unexpected trip out-of-state. They'd never been boarded before. We left them for a few hours for a meet & greet before leaving them for five days. We were very impressed with the grounds: very clean with outdoor private play areas. The staff, Ann Dee, Betti & Donny were very concerned with our dogs needs as well as professionally experienced with animals. It was of comfort to know that there was 24/7 on-site staff. We returned home to pick-up happy, healthy well-adjusted dogs....and, our little one was not quite six mos. old! We are happy we found Tails Inn & will be seeing them soon for not only boarding but day-care! read more

We had an upcoming 5 day trip that we could not take our pup with us. Tails Inn was recommended by our vet. We toured the facility and found it to be a very clean facility. We decided to leave our 8 week old GSP pup there for a half day test. She did great. Donny spent a lot of time getting to know her. A week later we left her overnight. Donny monitored her during her alone time and sleep time. He played with her and worked on basic commands with her. We then brought her back for the 5 day trip and another overnight since. Each time we enter their grounds our pup gets excited. She loves going there. I highly recommend Tails Inn for boarding pets. read more

They were great, very interested in what made our 2 dogs happy and wanted to give to them better food than what we brought - we ran out of our normal dog food and brought along Iams. Not only did they show how much they enjoyed taking care of dogs, but they were really friendly to the people as well, our kids included. We felt good about leaving our dogs with them for the day while we went to Silverwood Theme Park, (August 30,2016) and would not hesitate to go to them again. And then they sent us a thank you card! Excellent boarding facility for your precious "fur babies". We have used this kennel for years (previously under the ownership of Dave Byers). The new owners/operators, Donnie, AnnDee, and Diana, are just as efficient and compassionate in taking care of our dog (who is still young and can be a handful!). The facility is kept clean and has every amenity to insure your pet has a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We boarded our Great Dane Oreo here while going to Silverwood theme park for a few days. Andie, the lady working there was very friendly and accommodating with us, as our dog has issues with other dogs and must be separated from them. The price was very reasonable and Oreo seemed to get excited to go there. I was very apprehensive of leaving my dog, because she is not well socialized, and frankly she is a big dog that is difficult to handle, but I am glad she went to Tails Inn. I would recommend this place for anyone needing to board their dog. It was a great experience for my family. read more

From pre-visit preparation (including confirming medications) to consistent communication during our trip, every detail was handled with professionalism and compassion. We especially appreciated the regular updates, photos, and proactive communication--such as checking in during inclement weather regarding our dog's comfort. We have used this Kennel in the past and loved everything about it. We were very pleased to see that the new owners have kept up the high standards of cleanliness, spacious facilities, and their companion for our pets. Something new that we really appreciated was the kennel being open daily and flexible with pick up times. Even better , if you pick up your pet by noon the day of check out, there is no charge for that day. We were also greeted by two happy and freshly dry groomed dogs! We and our dogs love Tails Inn Kennels. We have used them twice so far and have been very happy both times. We have boarded our two dogs (Jessie & Kota) on and off for their entire lives. Both med/large dogs. In the past we have picked them up from other kennels and they were not entirely themselves, not the case here! When we pick them up they are happier and cleaner than when we dropped them off! I even called to see what they use to make them smell so good. Our puppy and German Shepherd were cared for by the best around N.Idaho! Donnie with his great dog since and AnnDee with her expertise as a Vet Tech makes a powerful team for the care of your dogs! Diana's constant work at the kennels for your dogs and cats and also her work with H.E.L.P. is just amazing. I won't go anywhere else with my dogs. We had the staff at Tails Inn watch our Bernese Mountain Dog and English Springer Spaniel while we were on vacation for 10 days. I truly love my fur babies and I feel so relieved to have found Tails Inn. The staff is absolutely exceptional! We visited family in North Idaho and Silverwood park. Tails Inn was able to accommodate our fur babies with just a couple of days notice. We have always left our dog's with Dave Byer. When he retired we knew he was working with the new owners Donny, Anndee, and Dianna.
