I took my son and friends on a half day trip on June 18th 2026. Captain Ian was very pleasant to…read moretalk to and work everything out with, but the captain of our boat, captain Nate was not very good. The trip overall was not well liked by any of us. We were late. The departure time was supposed to be 7 am. I was wrangling 3 kids under 13. That's my fault, but I did not ask for more time. I completely understood and accepted that was lost time. When we got on the boat at around 7:15 captain Nate informed us we had no live bait. That was unacceptable in my opinion. We were stuck trolling the whole time and we were trolling with a broken reel and cracked lure. When we got out to La Jolla Captain Nate said he was going to do 2 or 3 passes and then change the broken reel out, but he never did. And 4 hours in he finally realized why fish weren't bitting on that line....the lure was cracked and it wasn't swimming. We were trolling with 1 line the whole time. Further captain Nate did not let us do anything. He said "watch out, I'll do it!" We were not allowed to set the line. We weren't allowed to reel them in gaf them. He moved us out of the way and did everything. Basically I paid $1,350 for this company to bark orders, fish and not let us do anything. We did take home 3 yellowtails, but had we been using 2 functioning poles and lures or live bait, we would have taken home much more. I tipped the captain $160 and I'm upset that I did. He filleted our fish, but did a horrible job. He refused to gut the fish resulting in the loss of about 8lbs of good belly meat for poke. He also refused to cut the collars because he claimed his $30 knife was too nice for that. I have Japanese chef knives that I purchased in Japan. They cost around $300 each and I use them to cut collars, but he refused to use his $30 knife. He also refused to cut and keep heads so I could have the cheek meat. This company not only uses broken equipment, but they will toss 15 plus pounds of good fish overboard because they don't want to deal with it. My son and I are going back out in 2 weeks, but I will not these guys. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR AWAY from this charter. Sure they are nice people, but you will have a horrible time! I forgot to mention that we pulled in a calico bass. We all discussed it and agreed that it was about 15 or 16 inches. Captain Nate looked at it, said he doesn't have a tape measure and "but I'm pretty sure it's too small" and tossed it. This company is a joke. Not at all worth the money. You will get bent and they will act like they did you a favor. Please, please, stay far away!

Everyone returned with more than enough Tuna to feed a group party with plenty of leftovers. We brought home over 400 pounds of Tuna! Kevin made our experience very enjoyable and stress free. After the overnight ride to our location, we were up at first light with lines in the water. Our first fish-on was about 30 minutes after we started. We had no idea what was in store for us that day but were very excited of the whole experience. We found three large groups of tuna that had all of us very tired by the end of our trip. The crew was very attentive at keeping us fed and happy. This is a must if you are looking to do a guys weekend.

So on Father's Day I got my dad(who loves fishing) to make this an event. As we got there, we parked in the restaurant parking(free) and waited till the captain showed up. He seemed to have slept in a bit late that day and we got late start but he promised us a great day of fishing and soon enough we found one of the biggest kelp patties you could imagine. Soon as threw our bait in "FishOn!!" 4 of us getting bit and breaking, changed from 25 to 50lbs test so we don't lose them to the kelp. The Yellows didn't mind the 50lbs test line, they keep biting! The irons were getting bit too on the surface with mint color. After the trip I got so tired I forgot my GoPro in the boat. But they were very nice and had it shipped back to my address after we talked on Instagram. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a character boat!

First of all, Tyler is a very experienced Captain, but also a wonderful and gracious host; he helped make sure we were all enjoying ourselves. We brought along some champagne, sodas, appetizers and sushi, and upon request, he even supplied a cooler with ice to keep our drinks chilled. The boat was beautiful and well-maintained, but our kids' favorite thing to do was to jump off and swim around in the bay. Tyler took us to a couple great, calm swimming spots, and brought along a big inflatable raft for them to swim to and hang out on. There's plenty of seating both inside and out, and a nice-sized table he can put in or outside, depending on your preference. Would love to go out again this summer and watch the SeaWorld fireworks over Mission Bay; wouldn't that be fun?! Disappointing, to say the least. Pinnacle and Duane came highly recommended by people in the local…read morecommercial and sportfishing industry. Pricey, but elite fish killers was the reputation. I went on the Pinnacle website, then had to call Duane to reserve. Called in August to reserve for yesterday, October 8th. Full-day offshore. Their 33'Everglades boat was booked, so we went on one of their Parkers. The price on the website for full-day offshore on the 28' Parker is listed as $3,300.00. Duane confirmed that they would be providing all the gear and that we did not have to bring any gear. Two days before the trip I got an email from Duane telling me that we provide our own California licenses as well as our own food and beverages. Seems like for $3,300.00 they could pop for the food and beverages, but whatever. My friend and I were the only passengers. Both of us are experienced saltwater fisherman, not pros, but decent fishermen with decades of experience. Many multi-day long-range trips, etc. The boat driver had some minor battery issues, so we got a little bit of a late start, but no problem. As we headed out, I checked the bait tank. It was dry. We had no live bait aboard. We rolled on out to the area of the 499/Snail bank. The boat driver put up the balloon/kite rig with a flying fish. We came upon a couple of whales with fish boiling around them. Not sure if they were bluefin or yellowfin, but seemed to be good-sized. The boils were in casting range, but we had no bait, and there were no rods set up to throw jigs. The balloon/kite rig did not get hit, so after the fish went down we started roaming the area. My buddy and I asked the boat driver to set up trolling rigs, but he said that the water was too cold for trolling. That was the story of the day. We would find boils, the balloon/kite rig would not get hit. The fish would move on. We would resume the search. Time ran out on us without ever getting bit. That's life, even the best skippers can get shut out from time to time. But we will never know whether we would have got hit on live bait, or a jig, or on the troll because our boat driver never gave it a chance. Here comes the worst part: We get back to the docks. We are supposed to pay by cash or Venmo. My buddy pays his half ($1650) in cash to the boat driver, and includes a nice tip. I contact Duane and get the Venmo information and pay my half ($1650). All's good, right? Not so fast. I get a text from Duane saying that we owe another $900.00(!?) Duane had decided on his own, without any communication at all, that the trip was not a $3,300 'full-day offshore' trip, but instead was a $4,200 'trophy bluefin' trip. Please.
