I recently flew out of Charlottesville back home to Atlanta. While I waited for my flight, I…read moredecided to grab a breakfast burrito and a drink at the ONLY place to eat in the whole airport. At first I was going to order a rum based drink but the "bartender" who also served as the cashier for the restaurant part told me they didn't have any pineapple juice-an ingredient that would have made the drink pop. So against my better judgment, I decided to order an old fashioned. Now before anyone comes for me and says that doesn't go with a breakfast burrito and why would you get that for an afternoon flight? You're right I should have not done this because it was by far the WORST old fashioned I have had in my LIFE! But did I listen to my gut to my better self?? No! I foolishly ordered it. Another bartender comes over and asks the cashier/bartender if she wanted to learn how to make one. Now side bar, I'm a bartender too so I know how a good or even decent old fashioned should be made and taste. Which is another reason why I shouldn't have ordered it from an airport dive bar, if you will. Anyways, as I am watching him make it and "teach" his coworker how to make it my flabbers were gasted!!! He grabs an orange slice and maraschino cherry from the fridge and puts it in a rock bottom glass. He then dashes a few bitters in it and grabs some sugar and pours it over the fruit. He grabs his muddler and muddles those ingredients together. I'm speechless. He then adds ice cubes not an ice block or sphere and adds the bourbon. Now pause, if he'd stopped there I would have classified the cocktail as a mid level drink. Not great but meh. I would have said well technically it's the traditional way to make an old fashioned. But nooo he does not stop there! He then takes the drink, holds it under the soda nozzle and pours CLUB SODA on top! I clutched my proverbial pearls!!! I do not know if this is the regional way to make OF's but this was absolutely abhorrent! But what made it worse besides me not saying hell no I don't want that was the price-TWENTY-ONE dollars and 63 cents!! I deserve to be slapped for paying it and most importantly not sending it back. Needless to say, I swallowed the subpar drink, paid for it and vowed that I will never allow someone to serve me something I know is made incorrectly and two never order my favorite cocktail from the only bar in a small town airport. Lesson learned for sure!

Plenty of seating for this tiny airport (it is the only bar/restaurant in the airport). My only real complaint about the bar? The food is pretty terrible. I ordered a Margherita pizza, which was pretty awful. Definitely frozen and reheated in a toaster over. It was exceptionally bad! Definitely just grab pre-prepared foods!

All in all, I'm very impressed with how CHO has improved. keep up the great work.

This airport does have a balcony that you can step out onto to get some fresh air, but there's no smoking. But there are tables and chairs, so you can eat outside and watch the planes come in. The Charlottesville airport also has a nursing room, and a lounge (but I'm not sure who it's for), and lots of chairs with outlets. They have more outlets here than people, probably, so you'll find somewhere to plus your stuff into. It's an easy get-in-get-out airport.

Whether or not you have a membership, they greet you warmly and explain what the cost is and the membership benefits are. Once you check in, they ask if you've been in the lounge before and explain the process of ordering amenities, etc. The design of the lounge itself is breathtaking with clear views of the air field and two levels to choose seating from. When you make your way to the bar you're warmly greeted by the amazing trio Angie, Erica, and Freedom. Hard-working lovely ladies that really make the experience 10x better. The lounge is very clean and the food bar has delicious meals that are fresh and refreshing. Overall a great experience before your next flight. Gracias Etihad Lounge for a phenomenal experience!

It is smaller, has less food options, only one shower, only 4 bathroom stalls, and a long wait if you happen upon it during a busy time. Their signature burger was not good here - dry, overcooked, no flavor. When I had it in Boston, it was pretty good, so super disappointing. The service was the same, attentive and professional. Having said all this, it is still much better than most airport lounges in the United States. The salmon and rice they served on the buffet line was good, so I filled up in that. The location is fairly convenient - in A. You can walk from B. It's next to where you'd enter from the airport tram (if coming from C) and when you get off the escalator from the airport shuttle (if coming from D).

Anyway with our upgrade came a lounge visit but Lufthansa's lounge was closed for refurbishment. We were given access to any Star Alliance lounge and after research we chose Turkish Airlines. The staff is super efficient and friendly. The lounge gets really crowded because it's small but they cleared dishes quickly and it seemed to help with turning the tables. The food was amazing! Best airport lounge food I've had. The bar is tucked away in the back separate from the food and dining area. The people at the front desk were not very pleasant or accommodating. The lounge was packed very tight. It was noisy and loud. It's a big lounge but the bathroom lines were incredibly long. Food was mediocre - on the upside the desserts were pretty tasty.

Upon seeing my boarding pass, the staff informed me that we qualify to visit the Polaris Lounge instead, a 5 to 8 minutes' walk away, near Gate C17. I asked which will be less crowded. She said they are both crowded, but the Polaris is much nicer. We decided to hoof it over to the Polaris since it's supposed to be a big deal, ignoring the fact that we probably have 45 minutes only to stay there. She wasn't kidding. The place was packed. It was very difficult to get a pair of seats, and we basically were stalkers waiting for folks to leave. Meanwhile, we were sweating from the walk and from the many people inside the lounge. After finally having seats, we looked at the food and drinks selection. I have to admit the food selection is impressive. They have a dining section that is full table service. Then there is a buffet section with good selection of proteins and produce in addition to the usual snacks. I was too hot to be hungry by then and chose only several cocktail prawns plus a few asparagus stalks. After a cold soda with ice from the bar, it was time to leave. There was also a line to wait for the bathroom. Next time, we won't fancy a Polaris Lounge when we don't have the time to stay.
