First time at Taj Restaurant, no idea why we hadn't been there before it was a treat to be there. The staff was super nice and helpful. The lady at the front desk I believe her name is Lulu was super nice and asked if we had been here before, we said this was our first time. We ordered Mix Fruit hookah (must try it was really good) mint lemonade, medium mix grill. Food was delicious, you could tell it was made to order and meat and chicken were very juicy.The hookah server was very attentive and came to check on it regularly. After we paid and were ready to leave Lulu asked us to stay for dessert on the house, that was very nice of her and we really enjoyed the dessert as well. If you are in the area it is a must try. We got there and immediately noticed there's no greeter or host upfront. We awkwardly make our way toward the middle of the restaurant to find somebody and ask for a table. We get seated, place our order, and roughly 40 minutes have gone by. We are wondering what is taking so long. I see a server walking towards us with what looks like the food we ordered. But he places the 2 plates of food on the table beside us, the table who came about 25-30 minutes after us. The couple at the table make a comment of whether they ordered that food, but the server still walks away. In the meantime, their children at that table immediately dig into the food left in front of them. A few minutes later, the server realizes his mistake and comes back trying to fix his mistake. Of course, at that point, we don't want food that's already been touched. The manager comes over, he asks us to wait again while they remake our food. At this point, we are being asked to wait over an hour for our food, the least they could've done is offered even the smallest discount, but they didn't. I understand we're all human and mistakes can happen. But after turning our experience into a disaster, the least they could've done is offered to comp even a part of our meal. I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, mainly because of the terrible customer service. From the moment we were seated, the waitress was rude, impatient, and made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. She had an unfriendly attitude, was dismissive when we asked simple questions, and seemed annoyed every time she came to our table. Unfortunately, the poor service overshadowed the entire meal. The front looks deceivingly small, but when you walk in, there is a huge space in the back and there is a large outdoor space as well. They have hookah as well which I didn't know. Went there for a birthday party on a Saturday. We were a large group (13) people. We had an AMAZING time. Great music. Great Dj. He kept the party alive the night nature time. They had a belly dancer and she was terrific. Food was delicious. It was a an all inclusive price including soft drinks. The food was plenty. They just kept putting plates of delicious appetizers and salads family style. The entree was served timely and was also delicious. Seasoned just right. The party was all various middle eastern people and all agreed the food was on point. No complaints. Entertainment was fantastic! Between DJ Mina and the belly dancer it was a lot of fun. They do ask to pay upfront the per person fee and gratuity. Throughout the night, as people were dancing and enjoying the night, I noticed that it would have been very easy for a group to walk out on a bill so I'm sure that's the reason they charge up front. Hookah was very good. They came around and checked on it regularly. They had a parking lot and there was also a lot of street parking right on Crooks Ave. Service was good. I order late-night delivery here often, and it's probably some of the best late night Middle Eastern food in the area, and definitely the best you can get delivered after 11pm. The hummous is outstanding, along with the Borak. Labne and Baba Ganoushj are very good, and the marinated grilled chicken thighs are perfect. Excellent garlic sauce on the side btw. The filet shish kebobs are great. The Arabic salads are Basic and good. Even the burger is decent with a little Mediterranean twist. We came here on a Saturday evening because La Ziza was charging minimums per person, but the service here was so slow. First, it took 15 mins before someone even came to us to order a hookah. We constantly had to call the closest waiter near us if we wanted anything extra - no one checked on us. Mind you, besides us, only 3 other tables were filled with people. Then, they said they ran out of Taj Mix. One thing I like is that they gave complimentary pickles + olives, but not really a fan of these type of olives (way too salty). We asked for more pickles, and they forgot about it. But the hookah guy did bring out coals periodically, which was nice. The hookah is long lasting with a few adjustments to the coal but it was still great. Decent experience overall. La Ziza nearby was filled with people, if you don't mind the minimum ($20-25 pp), then I say go there. read more

This is my second time going there. The first time we went to TAJ was in Oct. or Nov. of 2020. They have an outdoor dining area which we found very convenient and refreshing considering that pandemic and all the regulations and cautions that we had to keep in mind. Anyhow, that time we loved everything about the place, the food, the service, all in all was 5 stars. Which is really sad to say that this time when I went there with my family and a group of friends after WE suggested the place to out friends and recommended it, it was a total disaster experience! Starting from the minute we arrived, we asked to be seated in the back since it's a bit warmer and we have a baby, we saw them cleaning the table and putting new plates and stuff but nobody came after that to notify us that it's ready to be seated. We informed the waiter that we are really hungry and already know what we'll order (checked the menu on yelp while we were on our way) and asked for 4 different appetizers and the entrees, all at once. A different waiter came after sometime and just placed 2 plates of the same appetizer (which we didn't order, only ordered one of that plate) then after 10 min the second appetizer plate arrived, 5-10 min the salad arrived.. like it was a mess! Appetizers should be all placed on the table at same time. The main course was mixed grill, arrived not well done, again, something we asked for! The meat was red from the inside (I'll attach a pic). Lastly, my husband wanted to do me a surprise birthday party and notified someone to bring the cake to celebrate (something that I came to know after). Nobody came and he got furious so we asked for the check and paid to leave. While we were in the parking lot, someone followed us and handed my husband a styrofoam container. I thought it's the leftover that we didn't ask for since we barely ate anything after finding that meat is not cooked well, to find out later that it's a "small" piece of cake that my husband requested! It's so small that it's embarrassing to think how they were going to present it IF they served it to us on the table? This spot is beyond amazing! We have a great time every time. Let's start with the food, it's made really well and the flavor profile is genuinely good. I had a good experience at Taj. I went out alone for lunch and wanted a place with Hookah. Their Hookah menu was amazing. Many different flavors for a great price. The restaurant is BYOB, but they do provide mixers (juice), tea, lemonade, soda, etc. The only reason I will not give them five stars is because (1) it took over 30/40 minutes for my food to come out and it was only me (2) I had to ask for my check multiple times before it finally came out and that process took another 30 minutes. Great hookah to smoke, nothing else here is worth the trip. Taj mix hookah was great, coals where hot, tobacco properly packed, nice flavor, smoke was smooth, very enjoyable over all with nothing bad to say. It even lasted three people (me included) a little over two hours !! The place itself is kinda loud with questionable decorations and layout. There was a bottle of winded sitting there next to my head the whole time, I can smell the cleaning products which didn't help. The food on the other hand wasn't as great as the hookah. From a simple slip of forgetting the fries and giving us rice, to the fact that the chicken isn't enough to fill anyone (I mean, what kind of dinner plate leaves you hungry?!).
