My family and I have been coming to Beirut for years and it's always been one of our go-to spots. The food is honestly amazing, everything is flavorful and consistently good. The hookah is also really good, but it can depend on who's making it. When it's done right, it's perfect. The ambiance is a whole vibe, especially on weekends. They usually have live singers and performances, which makes it even better. Just keep in mind there's an additional charge for that added to your bill. For me it's over a 40 minute drive, and I'd still make that trip every time. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're looking for good food and a nice atmosphere. read more

Their food is consistently great, and in my opinion, they have one of the best hummus around. Honestly, their dishes overall are so much better than many of these newer, "high-end" Middle Eastern restaurants that just don't hit the mark. We arrived for our 5:30pm reservation, ordered promptly, and waited nearly two hours -- yet our food never arrived. Throughout that time, our waitress failed to check on us or offer any explanation for the delay. We ultimately paid for the one appetizer we received and left to find dinner elsewhere. We were not alone; two other tables experienced the same situation. Beyond the service failure, the overall condition of the restaurant was disappointing. The floor was dirty, the bathrooms were unclean and completely out of toilet tissue. Words cant express how amazing our experience was here! I haven't been here in a while and they still remembered me. My bf and I got multiple things, the hummus, borak, kibbeh, and the lamb and chicken platter plus the mint lemonade and baklava. Everything was delicious, almost like how my mom would make it, the flavor was nostalgic. The service was top notch, our server was on top of us, the owner came and asked us about our food and experience and even spoke to us on our way out. I came here on a date recently and was very impressed. To start off the ambiance of the restaurant is very lively and fancy. I love the colored walls, the decor and everything in between. Service was pretty okay, we were seated promptly and our waitress checked on us often. The hookah was smooth and made very well. The food was also amazing. I ordered the mixed grill plate and was very impressed. The lamb was succulent and juicy, the spices on it were amazing. The chicken was a dream - so so soft and delicious, not try at all like a lot of other places. The tea was a generous portion, they also gave us a complimentary dessert which was light, fresh and delicious. I do wish they had mashawi and put the appetizers such as hummus and baba ganoush on tiny plates on the tables bc I felt like my hummus mixed with all my food. There's not much to look at since the only view is of the busy Main Street. It still is the hot spot for a Saturday filled with night fun. Came here per recommendation of my Jordanian friend that raved about the freshness and deliciousness of the classic Arabic dishes prepared at Beirut. We had enjoyed classic appetizers such as hummus and babaganoush that had a wonderful consistency, and a slight smoky flavor. The pita was hot and fresh, and the perfect vessel for scooping up all these delicious dips. For our entrees we all got a fresh salad topped with chicken kebabs, and the veggies were all super fresh, vibrant, and the chicken some of the juiciest we had ever had. While I usually tend to not order chicken out, these kebabs renewed my faith in non-dry, well seasoned chicken dishes! The coal guy didn't come around regularly to change the coal. We had a cake for a birthday, they said they would bring out and sing, they didn't even do that and ruined the surprise. When we told the waitress, she just said it's not her fault and to talk to the manager. The manager did absolutely nothing. It was just the worst service I ever experienced. The hookah always pulls good. Everything on their menu is good and you won't be disappointed. One of my all time favorites though that is hard to find at any of the other nearby restaurants is their "muhammara". It is one of the best. Rated only on the Ramadan buffet $39.95 and we walked out. Of course they add sales tax but then they also add a mandatory 18% Gratuity. The place and atmosphere was nice and trendy that was not the issue for three of us walking out. Another issue is they don't have a regular paper menu to look at, you need to download an app on your phone and view their menu that way, NO thank you. Back to the Ramadan buffet what killed it for me was they gave you a 16.9 oz. bottle of water "Poland Spring", you know, the one you can buy in any supermarket and if you want more water you are forced to buy another bottle of "Poland Spring" for $2.50 plus tax and tip, are you kidding me? They wont give you tap water, so the waitress said and supported the idea of us having to buy our next bottle of water. It was a deal breaker for me, trying to rip me off for water after you are charging me $39.95 for the Ramadan buffet. We had a reservation and came on time, we sat for 20 minutes while the buffet was being set up and fuming over the water issue. Once they put out the limited selection of their buffet items, I took a look at it and said to my friends we are out of here. I will never go back because of their sketchy practice, this experience and try their food, you just lost a potential customer. We ended driving up the road less then a half a mile to a different restaurant having a fantastic Ramadan buffet, who gave you as much bottled water as you wanted for free plus 3 different juice drinks included with their buffet which I also reviewed. read more

Was introduced to this restaurant by a regular and she ordered everything for us. Everything she ordered was beyond delicious. My favorite was the salad, falafels and labneh; however, the baba ghanouj, red pepper hummus and spinach pies were delicious as well. Well deserving of 5 stars. Good for a date night or fun night out with a big group. Also would recommend for a special occasion. It's BYO. The food was very good and had big servings. I had the mixed grill which had 3 different kinds of meat: chicken, steak and beef and came with a side: fries, salad or rice. The white garlicky sauce that it comes with was straight crack! So delicious! Also tried the hummus starter, came with pita and it was very flavorful. We had the lemon mint hookah and it was the perfect night out. Can't wait to go back! Starting off I'd like to preface this review that I normally do not like to leave negative reviews and am not typically critical of restaurants. I understand how it feels to be in a customer service facing role and I know it's hard and people can be demanding sometimes.. But I would give this place a zero if I could. I had made a reservation for an event for 6 people in the beginning of the week , on a Monday. The morning of the event, 2 people were not able to make it. I had updated the restaurant of the change in the number of people who would be attending the event. When I got there, they were confused about my reservation and finally found it utilizing my phone number. Then, one of the waitresses redirected me to the outside in the back to a tent. It was a dirty tent with cheap plastic chairs and tables. She told me that there was no room inside for my party to be seated. How is this possible? I had made the reservations on Monday. The only thing that changed was that 2 people were not able to make it. Beirut did an extremely poor job of managing our reservation. After sitting outside in this dirty, dingy tent in under 50 degree weather, I came back inside and let the manager know of my reservation and how I made this reservation on a Monday, why are they not able to accommodate me? I gave them a weeks notice. He told me there might be a 40-50 minute wait, but immediately changed it to two minutes once I told him how I had made this reservation way in advance. We finally get seated at a table, and then I let the waitress attending to us , know we are waiting for 2 other people , so it will be 4 people in total. Throughout the night this waitress would walk away while I was in the middle of speaking to her. We put in our orders and the items took so long to come out. The cups we had were dirty and full of dust and fingerprints. when we pointed it out to the waitress, she was very irritated she had to replace them. We also only had two sets of utensils, and 4 people. We kept asking for utensils and didn't receive them. Obviously we were irritated because I had told the waitress there would be 4 people in total, and she had only set up the table with two sets of utensils. This was extremely embarrassing because we were with two people we were meeting for the first time, and this was slowly turning out to be a horrible experience. My friend was so upset she decided to speak to management about it. She discussed her concerns about the waitress and the situation in general that day , and the manager was very aggressive and disrespectful to her. He was not listening to her concerns, and basically kept asking her what she wanted from him, as if we were trying to ask for freebies/free services in compensation for what had happened. This was not the case at all. We just wanted him to understand that we were just asking for the bare minimum, which was for utensils, a waitress who didn't walk out on us while we were speaking and clean cups and glasses to drink out of. He said he would take care of it in an irritated and disrespectful tone to my friend and then lingered over us watching our table making us very uncomfortable. This was not the case, and he did not take care of anything. Except taking care to make us uncomfortable. The waitress overheard how the manager was behaving with our friend, and felt justified to then come over and tell my friend " you have a lot of complaints and that she complained a lot" and basically asked what more does my friend want from her? She finally gave us the other two sets of utensils. We uncomfortably finished our meal. At the end,they charged us a whopping 18% gratuity automatically added to the bill. We paid and left, as we did not want to cause a scene. Beirut was a favorite of ours and that is why we had initially decided to have our small event there. They failed to manage our reservation, failed to provide us with clean and sufficient amount of utensils/ drink ware. The staff was disrespectful and we are extremely disappointed in this restaurant. I highly recommend you look for a different restaurant for your next event. Management does not care about the concerns of their customers, and finds them problematic when they voice their concerns, and disrespects them to the highest extent. read more

I've enjoyed my visit to Beirut every single time I come here. This place has really authentic food and represents its strong culture. I love coming here to enjoy their amazing hookah which is not easy to find and sit outside near the waterfall drinking some wine. (fyi - BYOB). My favorite is their chicken - I love the way they marinade it. I also enjoy their salads, pita, crispy fries, and their delicious garlic dip. They offer so much more and I plan on trying more dishes the next time I come here. I stopped in this past Friday for a friend's birthday and although they were swamped, every server always asked if we needed anything. They also had a live singer which really had the crowd going. I was a little bummed there was no belly dancers that night but I think that is Saturdays. I will have to come on a Saturday night soon. Such a great place! read more

I mean, the experience here was just amazing. As I was planning a work dinner for a bunch of out of towners, I thought Lebanese cuisine would be a great experience for everyone. We all know between Clifton and Paterson there is probably 20 places or more , all fairly comparable in experience. To my surprise, Beirut below away all of my expectations. I called a week prior to make reservations. Once we arrived, we were given the choice of inside or outside seating and they quickly accommodated our request. The manager (or perhaps owner) was extremely nice and very proud of restaurant. We made jokes on his quickness of fulfilling our requests. The staff was wonderful. From the waitress' to the hookah gentlemen everyone was great. We got a ton of apps/ salads- everything was well prepared and delicious. Dinner was out this world. we all go mixed dinners and tried a bit of everything- Kofta, shish kebab, and chicken was all cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Honestly hands down one of the best middle eastern experiences I've had in a while. I should also note that their outside seating was legit.
