Not getting to enjoy chef Karim's delicious good as often as I used to as I'm not in the area as often. Food is still authentic, fresh, and reasonably priced. Have never had a disappointing meal in all the years I've been coming! If you haven't been and you enjoy Middle Eastern food, check it out!

I came to this establishment a couple of weeks ago but they were closed for Ramadan. Today I got the same craving and made my way back for takeout. Located off of Lanza Avenue in Garfield since 2016, this cozy Palestinian-owned restaurant, Al-Yamama Grill Shawarma Kebab was luckily open serving Mediterranean cuisine. Upon arrival, you'll start craving all the food from the pictures hanging wall. Greeted by Karim who's the owner/chef, he made my falafel plate to order consisting of 6 sizable falafel, rice, salad, 2 pitas and small white Tahini sauce. The falafel were made fresh, well seasoned and tasted deliciously. The rice was okay. The portion is huge so if you're up for sharing and a light eater, split 1 by 2 people. The price is reasonable and the service friendly. I can recommend this place.

This food came with salad, babaganoush, hummus, white sauce, hot sauce, and a lot of pita!

My husband and I ordered catering from Al Yamama grill for my father-in-law's birthday. Look no further for catering! I cannot recommend this place more highly! Karim was so patient over the phone when he explained the catering package to me. He was extremely accomodating when I asked for a substitution. He even sent a picture of a previous order he had made for me to better understand the portion. The food was fantastic. Amazing value for the portion, quality, presentation, and hospitality. We will be back! Thank you so much, Karim!

Due to pandemic,we strictly practice social distancing. In celebration to my daughter's birthday I wanted to surprise her send food for her birthday.Since she's away from us I don't want her prepare much at her end. This Al Yamama Grill I found in Yelp while I did my search near my daughter's place and they accept delivery. To my surprise, the owner whom I talk to over the phone when I did my inquiries and made my order was too accommodating. So I made it a try. They delivered the food on time for lunch and my daughter was surprised it was a kind of feast.I'm pretty sure the food was so delectable. They love the whole package.Thank you Yamama Grill for this sumptuous 7-8 people catering service you have that it's more than I expected .God bless you more on your business because you're so kind person and I can feel it.My sincerest review.

My meal this time was rushed. Delivery took 2 hours probably cuz it was busy. I ordered from here before and can tell a difference. It was more dry, bigger messy chunks. Food was mediocre and their definition of gyro platter is flawed. The so called gyro was thick dry chunks of steak for the gyro platter

This was my first trip at the restaurant, the food was delicious! This spot is a hidden gem. Will definitely be back.

The food was delicious. The hummus was home made and the Shish Kebabs were tender and cooked perfect. I can wait to go back for more.

Very disappointed to see that despite a sign saying "Open Until 10pm" they are closed.

Just came on a road trip and although their site and sign says they are open until 10pm, they are dark and closed up at 8:45pm. Very disappointed in this business.

We ordered a whole range of things including chicken kebab, chicken gyro, tahini cauliflower,…read morelabneh, and hummus. Everything was delicious, but I'll leave the food writing to the Yelpers with more sophisticated palates than I. (Actually, I take that back--the fresh-baked pita was amazing and I would eat it with/for every meal if I could.) The real reason I wanted to leave a review the service, which went above and beyond. Let me start by saying that Al Basha takeout has a wonderfully efficient order-number-based system for managing the hundreds of orders they get on a daily basis. But if, say, the person who placed the order sent you to pick up the food with the wrong order number, you're going to struggle, and that's not the restaurant's fault. With that prelude and without getting into the details, we'll just say there was a user error issue with my order that led to a mix-up and a very late pick-up. Everyone from the Al Basha staff with whom I interacted could not have handled it any better. They were very apologetic, not because they did anything wrong (to be clear, they didn't), but because they were disappointed our meal hadn't gone well and wanted to fix that. The top priority of the manager with whom I dealt was making sure that my wife--it was Mothers' Day--got the best meal possible, and made sure to send me home with fresh bread and a treat for the moms. It was true hospitality, and greatly appreciated. TLDR version: great food, excellent service, out-of-this-world pita, and make darned sure you have the right order number.

Disappointed w the mix mashawi, considering it's their signature char grilled meats. It comes with…read morefilet mignon, chicken kebab, kofta kebab, and shawarma. The chicken kebab was dry and the shawarma was a bit too sour for my liking (not sure if they squeezed lemon on it or something). The kofta was okay but nothing spectacular. The filet mignon, was a major let down. My server didn't ask how we'd like it cooked, which is medium rare for my family. It came back well done. He said everyone usually prefers it to be well done, but I think that's a mistake that shouldn't be made and preference should always be asked, especially with steak. We asked for it to be swapped, and it still came back well done. When we let them know again, they brought it back a little on the rare side, which is fine for my family, but had it been another family, not so sure. I'm sure they have hundreds of orders for the char grilled meets, so I'm a little confused on why the technique has not already been established My favorite dish had to be the makanik - which is pan seared lamb sausages finished with sweet and tangy pomegranate molasses. I usually don't like lamb because of the gamey flavor but these sausages didn't have that. I didn't taste much of the pomegranate molasses. The arugula & beet salad would've been good if the pomegranate molasses vinaigrette was less sweet. The stuffed grape leaves were also a bit too sour. The lemon was just taking over the entire flavor profile. I didn't really taste the tomato or parsley. The falafel platter was good but nothing different than other falafels that I've had. The mint lemonade was so refreshing. Almost everyone in the restaurant had one and I understand why. The mint is not overpowering I had high expectations because I've seen this place on instagram but I'm afraid they were not met. Service was good, but the food definitely needs some work. There's valet parking, which i recommend because it's hard to find street parking

The smiling pretty face young lady Riham said we are welcome to come in and she would feed us. We were 7 adults. Every one picked their choice and all the food turned delicious. The appetizers were superb. The falafel, the kabab, the chicken, the Ouzi were done to perfection. Riham was courteous and kept the place open for us way beyond their closure time. I had the lamb kebabs. They were very soft and good but could be better in terms of flavor. The chicken tikka was too salty. The bread is delicious and fresh. The fries were delicious and comes with a interesting turmeric/mustard type sauce. The pickled vegetables are an acquired taste; very salty. The quzi is lamb shank with rice and comes with either bean or okra soup. I liked the okra soup better since it had some acidity from the tomatoes. The lamb shank was very tender but I wish it came with some sauce or lemon. The rice is a bit sweet due to the rasins. The prices are a bit high but there are not many Iraqi restaurants in the region.

The lady at the front desk I believe her name is Lulu was super nice and asked if we had been here before, we said this was our first time. Food was delicious, you could tell it was made to order and meat and chicken were very juicy. The hookah server was very attentive and came to check on it regularly. We get seated, place our order, and roughly 40 minutes have gone by. We are wondering what is taking so long. I see a server walking towards us with what looks like the food we ordered. But he places the 2 plates of food on the table beside us, the table who came about 25-30 minutes after us. The couple at the table make a comment of whether they ordered that food, but the server still walks away. In the meantime, their children at that table immediately dig into the food left in front of them. A few minutes later, the server realizes his mistake and comes back trying to fix his mistake. Of course, at that point, we don't want food that's already been touched. The manager comes over, he asks us to wait again while they remake our food. At this point, we are being asked to wait over an hour for our food, the least they could've done is offered even the smallest discount, but they didn't. I understand we're all human and mistakes can happen. But after turning our experience into a disaster, the least they could've done is offered to comp even a part of our meal. They did not, we left very disappointed and mind you this was Mother's Day.
