We've been coming here since they first opened, back when it was smaller and honestly great. That's why this was so disappointing. We placed a $330 takeout order and were given a pickup time. When I arrived, the place was about 70% full and completely chaotic. You could feel it right away. A young server, clearly his first day, was trying his best, but there wasn't enough support. The owner was yelling at him and another waitress instead of managing the situation. Customers were getting up and leaving, others were frustrated and waiting with no direction. This wasn't a staffing issue alone, it was a leadership issue. No organization, no control of the front end, and blame being pushed onto employees instead of stepping in and running the room. We ended up waiting an hour and a half past the promised pickup time. When the food finally came out, I asked if everything was there, and got a quick, dismissive "yes." Got home and realized nearly half the order was missing. Called multiple times, no answer. I don't write reviews like this, but this was easily the worst takeout experience we've had anywhere. And judging by what I saw, we weren't the only ones. It's a shame, because the food has been good. But if they don't fix how this place is run, they're going to lose customers fast. read more

Let's start with the toilet seat. It was so loose when lifted that I considered crawling underneath to tighten it so an older person wouldn't kill themselves on it. No spare roll of TP anywhere to be found. I ordered the falafel with grilled vegetable pita sandwich. It was falafel with lettuce and tomato. That's it. $20 bucks. Tasted it could have been bought in any deli for $8 bucks. By the way, we picked up a take out menu from them last week, and the menu prices were about 20% higher. Not fair. Order new take out menus if you change prices. My wife said her chicken kabob platter was edible at best. Rice was tasteless. There was 1 service person who was just so dumb and inexperienced that I will be kind and not get personal about. Not going back ever. read more

This was a very nice restaurant. Love that they have a "patio" area that is indoor but has open windows so you're not sitting outside on the sidewalk but it is open air. The fried calamari appetizer was delicious. I had the beef kabobs which was still pink in the middle and was seasoned so well. Loved it. WMy friend had the shredded beef and chicken platter and was disappointed. It was dry and rather tasteless. While there was sauce on the side and table, it didn't really help the fact the meat was disappointing. The Lebanese coffee was delicious. Overall the food was very good though. read more

Wow! What isn't there to say! My family and I broke fast here and were met with the most incredible meal. From start to finish, nothing disappointed. The star of the show for many of us was the lentil soup. Hands down one of the best ones we've ever had. All the cold appetizers were delicious, the stand out was the beets tahini. We held my mom's 70th birthday party at Tabboule and were absolutely thrilled with the results! We considered three other restaurants and decided on Tabboule by word of mouth and reputation. Caroline and Chuck (her assistant ;) ) went above and beyond to make sure that the food and service were stellar. We later found out that they had catered a party for 400 people earlier in the day, and we really appreciated the work they did for our party, as well. The meal was as follows: humus, baba ganoush, cucumber yogurt dip, falafel, fattoush salad, chicken and kafta kabobs, and lamb gyro with rice and pita bread for the dip. Very generous portions at an extremely reasonable price. We had 24 people and everyone came away happy and full. Dishes were served family style in their charming and convenient space (90 N Maple) although they plan to move to the new space on Ridgewood Ave any day now. Everyone was raving about the food. I have reviewed in the past as Tabboule is always delicious, and after a recent excellent catering experience, it warranted an updated 5-Star review. After a previous arrangements we had made with another restaurant for a large family party we were hosting the day after Thanksgiving fell through at the last minute, we gave Tabboule a call and are so happy we did. Spoke with Chuck the owner and not only were they happy to accommodate at the last minute, but they also went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They provided an impressive spread of food with generous portions and all at a very reasonable price. All of our guests were raving about the meal. Wouldn't hesitate to order catering or a regular meal from here again. Definitely check it out! read more

Tabboule is one of best restaurants in Bergen County. Truly authentic Lebanese cuisine. I've been going for a decade now. There is an incredible range of dishes. If you're interested in something healthy and plant based try the moosaka, the grilled vegetable sandwich, the Lebanese rise and beans, the hummus, the labneh, and the lentil soup. All of these are done differently than at Turkish or other Mediterranean themed restaurants. The Lebanese style is distinct. Also, don't forget to try the Lebanese cheese. The grilled Haloumi and the cheese sticks. I've also gotten the meat and fish dishes for family and been very satisfied. The meat was seasoned well, but I have had more tender kabob meat that was juicier. This was pretty good though. Loved the babaganoush. Almost missed the delicious garlic sauce! Wish we had more of that sauce, the takeout cup was tiny. There was also a tahini sauce included. It came with salad, rice, and pita. Would order again if we're lazy and don't want to cook or go out. Continuing our discovery of new places in Northern New Jersey - came across Tabboule. Located in a strip mall (for now), a tucked away Lebanese restaurant, no frills (as they will be moving in a couple of months to a bigger location with outdoor seating etc.,). The food was reaaallly good. We started off with Falafel, and something we hadn't tried.. Muhammara - a spread with walnuts, pomegranate, chili and peppers. Really liked it. Also had the Haloumi... which we like (cheesy goodness). We also ordered the mixed grill platter, a shawarma platter and the lamb gyros (btw, there were four of us... not just Rob and I being gluttons). Everything was fresh, hot and tasty. We also tried the halwa (sesame seeds/honey/pistachio) and the baklava for dessert. Really happy to have found this place in Ridgewood... will for sure be back. If you are in the mood for good low key Lebanese food, give Tabboule a try...don't forget to bring your own wine as it is BYOB. read more

But he did it all effectively without so much as a scowl. Onto the food, everything was terrific! Lebnah was perfectly creamy and garlicky.( suggestion- warm the pitas) Lemon-garlic chicken thighs delivered a service flavor punch. Shawarma combo was huge and very tasty. I would recommend this establishment to anyone - they have a menu suitable for the most adventurous eaters as well as the pickiest. Visited this past Friday for lunch and my table ordered the hummus, beets tahini and stuffed grape leaves for appetizers. For our main dishes we ordered the Tabboule Salad w/ Falafel, a Chicken Kabob Platter, and a Chicken Kibbe Platter. Of course, we had to end with dessert (pictured below). We stopped by here the other night to try their Lebanese food. If it wasn't for the gps, I would have definitely missed this. Parking was easy as there was a large parking lot in front. The inside is a good size with its of tables. Everything is clean and welcoming. They have an open kitchen and we were seated in front of it so we got to watch them prepare our food. We ordered the vegetarian mezza appetizers which was a sample of all of the cold appetizers. They tasted ok, nothing stood out for us. We also got an order of the liver appetizer(can't remember the name). It tasted very light and doesn't have the typical pungent smell/taste of liver. For entree I got a combination of chicken and beef shawerma. Cut fresh from the vertical broiler. It tasted pretty bland, like there wasn't enough seasoning. We had a great experience at Tabboule and did not encounter any of the service or food problems that I have read about in other reviews. Albeit, we were there on a slow weeknight sans any coupons. Our waiter prepared the food, cleared the dishes and was probably the manager/owner. He was extremely courteous and friendly. An order of Za'atar chips with yogurt cucumber dip enticed our appetite while we read over the menu. We began with an order of Muhamara which is a spread of crushed walnuts, chili & pomegranate. Wife and I fairly well versed in Mediterranean style cuisine but this was a new one for us. After it arrived our waiter told us that he likes to dunk the pita with the Muhamara into a little bit of the Baba Ghannouj. One minute later he returns with a small complimentary bowl of Baba Ghannouj. He was right on the money! Both were great by themselves but the combination brought it to a whole other level. Wife and I also shared some Lebni which in this circumstance was a rich Lebanese yogurt with mint and garlic. An excellent rendition with a strong mint presence. Our last starter was the Lebanese Cheese Sticks which are cheese wrapped in a filo dough and then fried. This was a non-greasy delicate version compared to others we have eaten. We split the Veggie Combo for our main entree. Fried cauliflower, eggplant, grilled tomato, grilled onion, vegetable omelet, falafel and garlic cilantro potatoes served over some shredded lettuce and raw tomato. The dish came with a small side of tahini sauce and some hummus. Also, on the Veggie Combo plate were some pickled vegetables. We couldn't tell what they were. They were delicious! Wife asked the waiter what they were and proceeded to tell him how much she enjoyed them. The waiter responded that they were turnips! One minute later he brought over a small bowl filled with them! Dessert was a generous sized piece of Lebanese Cheese Kenafeh. It is shredded filo dough wrapped around sweet cheese topped with honey. We look forward to returning! read more
