I'm sad to give this place two stars because I was really excited about the menu. My boyfriend and I ordered to-go from here. We got the jebneh, the lentil soup, and the falafel platter with french fries and salad. We started with the jebneh which is basically white pizza. It was pretty mid. I thought the lentil soup would be puréed but it wasn't and it had a ton of onions which I don't particularly care for. This is however a personal preference and not part of why I am giving two stats. The falafel was cooked well but not seasoned well and lacked flavor. The dipping sauce was watery, and could have also offered more flavor. My boyfriend and I went to finish the jebneh and I found a hair in it. Not mine and not my boyfriend's. I called Manouche to let them know and they offered to remake it but honestly the food overall really upset my stomach. My boyfriend also had a stomach ache after the food. The manager who I spoke to about the food was pretty unsympathetic and said she'd double check their processes and that hair was highly unusual. I just didn't love the customer service. Overall, the food even without the hair was mediocre. My boyfriend said the best thing was the root beer he got from there. I don't think we will be going back any time soon. read more

The roasted potatoes were fine, but nothing remarkable. Overall the meal was satisfying and was a lot of food. I did give in and have to try the heaven cake, as I had not heard of it before. The pistachio crust and phyllo edge reminded me a lot of baklava, but the whipped cream filling was very sweet and denser than I expected. It was a unique treat. Extremely authentic and very, very, VERY good. I mean so good that I was shocked. So good I didn't even take pictures. I come from a relatively well-known middle eastern restaurant family, and I'm super picky when it comes to middle eastern food. I don't say this to be all hoity toity, but to say that I'm someone that has eaten borderline TOO much of it over the course of my lifetime. Ok so I tried the hummus, chicken shawarma platter, and shish tawook platter. Full disclosure, I don't even really like shish tawook (it's usually bland or dry or something), but I'd had a workout and wanted to be healthy. It was up there, truly, in some of the best I've had. Not dry at all, seasoned appropriately, juicy and tender and GREAT. Love the tzatziki-ish sauce it came with. The chicken shawarma was the star though. It's not the thin-shaved shawarma you get off a spit, it's more like thin strips of chicken cooked on a flat top. That seasoning though WOW. And their garlic sauce is excellent. Their fattoush had an incredible dressing, and I think they added some honey or something which really balanced what is typically almost too acidic of a dressing for me. No complaints on the yellow rice. Everything was cooked to perfection. That's incredibly rare. Growing up in Saudi Arabia, I ate a lot of Middle Eastern food, mostly Lebanese. Ever since moving to the US 15 years ago, I've been searching for a Lebanese restaurant that reminds me of the ones I used to go to back home. Finally, I've found it at Manouche. We went for lunch on a Sunday and got seated right away. We started with crispy falafels and tahini sauce. They were so good - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also had a sfeeha (not pictured), which is a minced beef, parsley, and onion pie. It came in four slices and was delicious. Next, we ordered the ouche dipper and chose labneh, zesty feta, and hummus. The zesty feta had just the right amount of spice, and if it got too spicy, the refreshing labneh balanced it out perfectly. The pitted olives were a nice touch too. For our main course, we all got the chicken shawarma, and it was amazing. The shawarma was long and slender, packed with marinated chicken, fries, Lebanese pickles, and just the right amount of toum. It really brought me back to my childhood. Manouche is now my go-to whenever I'm craving a taste of home. P.S. I went back three days later for takeout. Even though I live about 15 minutes away, the food traveled well. I got the falafels again, along with French fries, chicken shawarma, and the gyro platter. Manouche was meh and although the service was really nice and attentive, the food left much to be desired. We stopped here after seeing it's raving reviews here on Yelp. I swear ya be lyinggggg lol. After a day of oo-ing and ah-ing at the beautiful cherry blossoms in Branch Brook Park we were HUNGRY. We ate in and tried a variety of things: lamb and chicken platter (beef was substituted for chicken), fool (fava beans), and regular gyro with a side of fries. The fries were plentiful. The gyro was pretty basic. The street carts in NYC have more flair and flavor tbh. The veggies were lacking and the gyro meat was exactly as any other gyro spot. The platter was basically a gyro but with sides-- we tried the hummus (again, super basic and bland) and the salad. The beans were plentiful (seriously, it was a HUGE portion) and we did not eat most of it. They tasted a bit odd, like burnt garlic, and felt like they needed to be cooked more. We did not enjoy these beans at all. Add a can of coke for $2.50. I don't drink soda so I was shocked-- when did a can become $2.50?! Is this normal? We got 25 dolmades to bring to a family party and the price was very reasonable, and they even threw in a few extra for free. I was offered the option of paying a little more to have them plated and not just in the tray, but opted for just the tray... they were beautifully presented and party ready anyway!
