So I cant attest to the location or restaurant itself as I cheated and Door Dashed my food...however I can say that the food is excellent! Service was fast too and everything arrived perfectly in my scheduled time frame. The chicken tikka masala is one of the best I've had...got medium spicy but it wasn't overwhelmingly spicy. Very creamy and great balance of flavors, the rice was cooked perfectly. Also got the Dang Bang shrimp and its like the upscale version of Bonefish's (this is literally the only reason I get food from there...even donated blood one time to get a gift card for the shrimp...lol) so will definitely get this again. Tried the vegetable samosa and it did not disappoint...still crispy when we got it and the filling was great with perfectly blended spices with the chick peas and potatoes...loved the little green dip it came with. Garlic nan is a must have on the side! I definitely enjoyed this meal and thought it was on par...or maybe better than the upscale Indian place in Nashville owned by a renowed Tournament of Champions winner that we tried earlier this year. Best part is: I will get to enjoy it again as we had plenty of left overs!

A local friend brought me here while visiting and it was so incredibly good! I got the butter chicken & a mango lassi and she got the chicken tikka masala. I would definitely go back. It's a small place but they weren't too busy in a Thursday night, likely due to the holidays and unexpectedly cold weather for Georgia.

First time trying the buffet; they change up what they serve each weekend. For $15 a person, this is a great deal to try what they have! I will definitely be coming back!

This restaurant is a bit far from where I live in Augusta, but I'd be happy to come back again! Food was yummy and they give huge portions of their entree curries. The service was very friendly and our server joked around with us which made me feel very welcome there. We went at around 2pm on a Sunday, and we were seated at the secondary dining room where it didn't seem too busy. Food didn't take long to get to us. I ordered the Chicken 65, which was not on their menu but actually part of the specials they had written on the blackboard outside of their shop. It was classified as an appetizer, but with the rice they served for the table (my friends ordered curries), I was very full and didn't have to take home any leftovers. The chicken was delightfully crispy and seasoned well, but I wish I had the option to add a little more spice. The server said he would give a side of chili powder for me to add, but I think he forgot? Nothing to dock a star over though. Also ordered the pistachio kulfi (ice cream) which was solid. No, literally. Felt more like an ice bar than ice cream, but I really can't complain. I kinda wish they didn't put the strawberry/chocolate syrup on top though, as that kinda masked the taste of the ice cream. Overall will visit again to try one of their curries at spice level 5 lol

This suburban strip mall place appears small, but has a second dining room, both of which are nicer than one might expect. Service was a bit slow as they were busy. Starting with a chai gave me a legitimately well-spiced brew, but also a bit of disappointment as it was unsweetened and the options provided included artificial sugars and white sugar but no brown sugar (let alone unrefined jaggery of the sort that I assume would be the real deal here). A long list of food options made choices tough, but I was happy with my freshly cooked okra. The rice came with a delightful touch of cashews and raisins; nothing huge but the psychological effect of these sorts of things is worthwhile. They offered me more if I needed it, but there was abundant rice the first time around. My aloo paratha was freshly cooked and warmly spiced. A chickpea salad which I ordered specifically because the menu said it didn't have cucumbers ended up having quite a few, but there were certainly other appetizer choices worth coming back to try.

The entire hot bar. From left to right: rice, vegetable pakora, tandoori chicken, mixed vegetables, butter chicken, squash, eggplant, naan.

I've been wanting to try Taj of India for quite sometime now but usually not in the area during the lunch buffet hours. Today I finally got the chance to try it out. While my experience was not bad, I don't think I'll be returning. The dining area was nicely decorated and clean and the staff were pleasant. However the food didn't feel very authentic and lacked the bold spiced flavors I expect from Indian food and the buffet options were very limited. I would have liked to have seen a variety of appetizers, a variety of main dishes and several side dishes. The reality was 1 appetizer that was labeled vegetable pakora but tasted and looked like frozen sweet potato fries, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, an eggplant dish in a korma tasting sauce, stewed squash and naan bread. There was also a salad section that contained 1 tray with lettuce, 1 tray sliced oranges, rice pudding, a bowl of seasoned carrots and a raita. I tried a little of everything except the salad and the squash. While nothing was terrible, and any Indian food is better than going hungry, nothing stood out as great either. The tandoori chicken had good flavor but was very dry and tough. The butter chicken had a good base flavor of seasoning and great texture and mouthfeel but the spice level was nonexistent. No heat at all. I found both the butter chicken and the eggplant dish to actually taste somewhat sweet which is definitely not what I want from curry style dishes. As I said before the item labeled vegetable pakora looked and tasted like frozen sweet potato fries. They were not crispy and did not taste like and pakora I have eaten elsewhere. While I understand that raita can be made endless ways, this variety was not for me. It was mixed diced vegetables in a very loose/wet yogurt and the herb profile tasted like tzatziki to me. While I love tzatziki, it was not what I was expecting to taste when I added it to a bite of butter chicken and rice. The rice pudding had the best flavor out of all of the dishes but again the texture was off. It was very wet and soupy. Overall, the price was reasonable and staff were great but the food offered on the buffet did not meet my expectations and I will not be returning for it again. While I May at some point give the regular menu a try, it won't be any time soon. Ambiance: 3.5 Staff:3 Food on buffet: 1.75-2

It's been a few years since I've come back to Taj of India....mostly because of the location being farther compared to other restaurants so when my friends invited me to dinner I had to say yes. We shared 2 appetizers the lollipops and the vegetable pakora. Definitely recommend the pakora....nicely fried with the right amount of seasoning. I got my usual go to Indian dish chicken korma. The portion was large and flavor was amazing. You can get spice level 1 to 5 (I got a 2 which is mild plus and not really spicy at all...will go for a 3 next time). My friend got the Chennai kochi curry which was really good if you like coconut gravy. The dining room is small but that being said we didn't have to wait for a table nor did any of the other diners (we went at 530 on a Friday night). Service was great. They refilled our waters, came to check on us. Will definitely be returning

The food was amazing and our server Alex was on point! The decor was also beautiful! Alex was knowledgeable sweet and really helped us navigate our first time visit. First class top notch service. The owner also greeted us and checked on us throughout our dining experience!! Thank you Mr. Singh for bringing an authentic taste of India to our small corner of the world!! Bless you. Recommend a 10!

I truly do not think they could make anything bad if they tried. Everything is excellent, especially the lamb.

Despite a few menu alterations on their part, I got some interesting food. The place is listed as Pakastani, so I ordered things that seemed distinctively regional. My paneer chili delivered a delicious Indo-Chinese spice note and enough chili to clear my sinuses. The amount of actual paneer was not huge, but neither was the price, so I ended up just eating it all at once (unusual for me to finish an entire entree of that heavy stuff). The way they do a samosa chaat is a little bit drier and tangier than most, which does feel more like the style one gets in Pakistani places. It was satisfying, though the styrofoam container struggled to hold the liquid a bit. Of the numerous Indian restaurants in the area, I doubt this one will blow away all the others, but it was distinctive, fresh, and convenient. They gave me a loyalty card, and I'll probably come back.

Both main dishes had limited depth of flavor without the craveable layers of Indian spices that culinary dreams are made of. May be perfectly fine for most, especially as an introductory Indian food experience. Where's the heat?
