Have not had an Indian buffet since pre-pandemic. So stumbling upon this one while on a Bend beer pilgrimage was quite exciting. Everything was very tasty and fresh-tasting, not the easiest thing to accomplish with a buffet. All the staff were pleasant and friendly. We used a food delivery service for take out and I was SO pleasantly surprised when the order showed up early and was even better than I anticipated. We had the lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, rasam, rice & naan (of course). Everything was 10/10! So flavorful. The rasam soup was crazy spicy and SO good. I will crave this soup in the future. Really bad food. And 15.95 for a buffet here? That's pricey! Fried chicken tandoori, with lots of red food color and no seasoning. And it is cold Naan bread made of all purpose flour and hard as leather, even when made hot. Rice is sticky, and remember - I am not having a sticky rice with teriyaki chicken. The paneer dish and the chicken butter masala were the only disk that we could have with the rice/naan. I took a lot of things with the hope that this is something I will be able to eat. But unfortunately had to waste it. And I never, ever, waste food at a buffet. read more

Awesome place! My wife and 2 kids were visiting Bend and stumbled across this place. The young guy at the counter was super nice and told us that this was a family run business and gave us a brief history. My boys barely eat so he gave us a great deal for them. Dined at Taj Palace on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was bustling and was serving a buffet for the holiday. The buffett included all of the popular Indian dishes - Saag, Tiki Masala, Butter Chicken, Curry, etc. All dishes were tasty 3.5/5 in my book. The naan was a bit disappointing - lacked flavor, but all and all a decent meal with just okay customer service (we were never asked if we'd like a beverage with our meal). $14.99 each for the buffet - a pretty good price! read more

The lunch buffet is good. It has more choices than most lunch buffets. The naan was a little soggy instead of crispy. The curry pork was our favorite. The tikka masala chicken was pretty mild, more like butter chicken. The vindaloo chicken was much more like traditional tikka masala chicken. I try to make my ratings based on not just the food, but the clientele that they are catering to. Based on that I would say it is a solid 4 stars for central Oregon, but would be 3 stars in a metropolitan area where the clientele is more diverse. We will definitely be back, looking forward to a dinner here where I can ask them to kick the heat up a notch or two, lol. read more

One of the best restaurants in the city. They had to move and their new location is even better then the old with lots of parking. Indian food is so outstanding its like a thanksgiving dinner. It was so exciting to have an Indian food option here in Bend. I remember waiting in line on opening night and have been a loyal patron ever since. Our favorites are aloo paratha, vegetable samosa, mushroom and chicken saag, chicken tikka masala, boti kebab, mango chutney...it's all just so good. Family run with kind service. So so so sad that bend doesn't have any good Indian food. This place is run of the mill and leave feeling sick. Have to drive 2-3 hours for decent Indian food. I really wish they would care enough to put an emphasis on QUALITY. But so many Indian food restaurants out there care more about business and money that they forget what is most important. Just ate at the Taj Palace again after not being here for a few months. Had a chicken and vegetarian option I hadn't had before, both were really good. My wife enjoyed all of her choices, with the pakora being her favorite...she also liked the desert in coconut milk :) Really like their lunch buffet and the service is always personable and prompt. read more

We love this place. Literally such a hidden gem in this town. We have been supporting them since 2012. The food is so full of flavor and good quality. I love this place they do such a good job their lamb saab is sweet and tender I love the chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan bread. All the food went really well with the Indian beer I'd recommend the snowman if you're into a somewhat sweeter lagger and the 16,000 if you like something more bitter I typically lean towards bitter beers but I felt the snowman had the best flavor especially with the food. We finished things off with the gulab jamun for dessert and it was great. Definitely a good regular spot if you like Indian food. read more

The good: The family is lovely. We like the palak paneer and chicken tikka masala just fine. The bad: The RICE! Why is it so mushy? Most indian places nail the rice. This place needs to work on this big time. The portions are small. Especially small for the price. They are inconsistent. Sometimes the naan is good and others it's super stale and crispy. The garlic naan was good. I got the Chicken Tina Masala and it's extremely light and creamy which is not what I'm used to. I was not a fan of the taste. The Paneer Masala did not have spinach in it and was extremely milky. read more

We went with 3 kids and the restaurant staff refused to serve us dinner an hour before the restaurant closing stating it gets messy for them with kids. Staff said they would do take out if we would like. I would recommend not going to the restaurant which discriminates! Its a shame! read more

Well, let's see ;over the last few years ...very occasionally we have tried this place and there's always some good things and always bad things but the restaurant was always nice about their mistakes and interested to know if something came mistakenly or uncooked or whatever it might've been. Because, for the most part it's been dry old or oily we were reluctant but the restaurant's good attitude had us simply wait long periods of time between attempts, (to forget ) and hoping for some good Indian food at some point. I am sorry to say that today when we ordered the delivery began barely minutes after ordering. We don't eat McDonald's but I imagine it takes longer to make food there... so we were skeptical. Oh my. Clearly they were closing but that is no excuse to deliver garbage that I must assume was about to be thrown away (which is the best way I can describe the food. ) The lentil soup was more water than soup. It is frankly disgusting and no one is going to eat it. The" lamb stuffed bread... "Let's say this: you pick it up and your plate will be filled with little sparsely placed"rocks"... Obviously very very very dried out lamb. Being very careful to take a bite over the table it also tasted like little rocks but heavily salted. On the bread where the lamb fell out you could see traces of the other kinds of "stuffed bread" from the pan which was clearly with filthy oil. The bread had that discoloration and smell from being in a pan that needed cleaning a long time ago The dried on pieces of spinach on the inside from other cooking wasn't a pleasant thing to see either.
