One time food cart / truck (I think called incred-i-bowl) owners revamped and now operating from one of the counters inside The Grove food hall on Bend's westside / NW Crossing neighborhood area for ThAiPAS' whose tag line is "authentic Thai street food". The wife of the husband - wife ownership team is, as I understand it, from an island off the southern coast of Thailand and that may be one of the reasons our first experience here was a delicious one. Our inaugural dish of a Northern Thai (Burmese really) fav of mine, Khao Soi (@$18) was excellent and served with authentic touches, like pickled mustard greens. Big enough to share and served in stainless bowl on stainless tray for us as we were eating in at one of the tables in the food hall. We devoured it and left eager to try ThAiPAS again. My husband and I love Thai food and and during past years when we were Bend residents we enjoyed several local Thai eateries, including some that came and went as marginal storefronts and others that were pretty terrible as food trucks. But we enjoyed Wild Rose for Northern Thai dishes and also Noi for Thai food. From our single experience at ThAiPAS it is in that good company and comparing Khao Soi here to Wild Rose, the ThAiPAS dish would take the prize for us. GOOD FOOD TAKES TIME: The kitchen is small and if our experience was typical, even with two cooks on board there and someone else taking orders at the counter, even at non busy times it can take a while to have food completed. Be prepared. You'll receive a pager that will alert you when order is ready and it is worth the wait. ONLINE ORDERS: When we're in Bend these days it is for caregiving for a family member so ThAiPAS' online order option will be on our radar in the future. If you do order on line I'll share that I note from the (woefully inadequately sized) Grove parking lot that there is an outside window for ThAiPAS so it may be you can get to go orders without having to go inside. (But you still have to park and boy, howdy, that can be a challenge here.) I'll link here their page that shows a map and allows click through to see menu: https://www.thaipasco.com/ A LOCATION WHERE TIMING IS EVERYTHING: For the unfamiliar with this neighborhood, and we lived nearby in Bend for 18 years before escaping the tourists (sorry not sorry if you are among the roughly 1.5 MILLION annual tourist visitors reading this :-)) to move away 8 years ago, both a high school and outpost of Oregon State University are nearby and during the months school is in session any business in The Grove food hall with the exception of Sebastian's Fresh Seafood and Specialty Market (and you should shop there...that review is pending) is likely to be jam packed with students at lunch hour. Be aware. ACCESSIBLITY: ADA compliant (one space / van accessible per ADA and OR code) in The Grove lot. Ample clear floor space throughout The Grove to be fully accessible to diners on wheels at order counters and in seating. Several standard height tables. THE LOO: The Grove's bathrooms are at a bit lower level and universally accessible ramp access is provided for everyone to walk or roll down and up. Staff was friendly, but was extremely disappointed with the food. Had to be the worst Thai food I've ever had.

This honestly surprised me- initially I wasn't thrilled about $18 pad Thai, but to be fair, that's just the price of food these days and it was SERIOUSLY good, and I got more food than I expected. Probably top 3 Pad Thai I've had so far! The tofu was cooked to perfection and it was so delicious that I forced myself to stop eating it all so I could take some home to my husband for him to try. There were a handful of hardworking ladies in the back smiling. I hope this business is able to stick around because I'll be back next time I'm at The Grove! read more

ThAiPAS - Tofu pad Thai to go - Thai Near Me - Bend, Oregon

ThAiPAS resides in The Grove food hall and had the advantage of being the only restaurant open inside for a while (Sunny's Carello has been parked there since the Grove opened). Now that LCBC is also open, they have competition within the hall with more to come once the seafood place opens. Less advantageous to ThAiPAS was the prior opening of Thai Table a few blocks away in NWX, a full-size restaurant that has a much bigger menu than does ThAiPAS. I have to think one or the other would do better by offering a different cuisine - Indian, Korean or Chinese maybe? You're gonna cook what you know but I sure wish one or two chefs in Bend knew Korean. As a side note, I do not know if ThAiPAS (or Thai Table for that matter) serves 'authentic' Thai food; nor do I particularly care. - Fried chicken: Four whole wings with a separate small tub of sauce (I prefer split wings but that's a minor point). I did take out and once home decided they needed more heat so broiled them for ten minutes. OK, but really not different than standard wings. Nothing 'Thai' about these wings until/unless you pour the sauce over them. In hindsight, I should have drenched the wings in the sauce before broiling, which is obviously not an option if you're dining in. Comes with sticky rice - which I'll have later with a good soy sauce but I'm not sure how it pairs with wings. - Red Curry with Tofu: Very tasty, somewhat spicy sauce loaded with chunky bits including well-prepared tofu cubes. This dish did not disappoint. Good service, fast casual with easy ordering and payment. As I was there early before the crowd, the person at the counter (the only person working at the time) kindly explained that her deep fryer need a few more minutes to heat up, which would delay the fried wings. I appreciated being informed and had no problems waiting - my beer glass over at Waypoint would keep me company. All-in-all: Good. ThAiPAS will probably be my first food choice next time I'm at The Grove enjoying Bend Brewing beer, although I think I'll pass on the wings. Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) is next. read more

Great food, best Thai food in Bend. However, the man at the front counter is genuinely the rudest, most unhelpful, and least knowledgeable person ever. My food was made wrong, I asked him why there were carrots in my dish when I asked for there no to be, he just stared and me and goes "I recognize that." Didn't apologize or anything. He motioned for me to hand it back to him, without saying anything, but we didn't have time and left. He also couldn't answer any questions, like about what is in a dish or if the fresh or flakey chilli was spicier, but expected me to know. Genuinely terrible and insufferable service, but again, great food, minus the fact it was made wrong. I had written a raving review just a couple of weeks ago I meant every word! But I am very very sorry to report that on the second time I ordered (feeling totally confident I would be getting the same fresh ingredients);I was incredibly disappointed The Thai tea was absolutely old to the point where it was moldy the pad Thai although I ordered the vegan sauce the green onions although half were fresh, the other half were gooey and tasted of rotten fish. Such a bad taste that had to be spit out I cannot explain what the source of this problem is, but the noodles were not fresh, or the condiments and sauces were not fresh in fact underneath the noodles there was a wet napkin like or towel that was stuck to the box. The food was so incredibly good the first time that I have to assume they were having a rough day or no one to mind the kitchen? I don't know! Again it was so incredibly good the first time and I was so thrilled that one could use coconut oil instead of canola oil (since most of the food carts and restaurants in town use a lot of canola oil. )It was such a refreshing healthy option. I also loved the choice of vegan sauce because I'm allergic to shellfish, which is usually present in a lot of the sauces in Thai food. Food was really good. Seemed pretty fresh and though I'm not GF I saw on the menu several of my usual items were GF which is nice to know. The only downside was that the food took kind of a long time and there isn't an order ahead option I'm aware of. It also wasn't the cheapest considering the portion and counter service. Overpriced and underwhelming. The curry was ok, however you can find 3-4 better Thai curries in bend for 70% of the cost. If you are going to charge me $14.00 you should at least provide a decent serving size. This place won't last too long if they don't bring prices down. read more

Could this be Bend's best Thai food? I've been multiple times to every (and all punch above weight) Thai restaurant in Bend. Obviously, the "famous" northern Thai spot downtown is terrific but it's trying to accomplish something else (and succeeds). But a small outpost in the grove one-upping everyone else in town when it comes to classic street fare Thai? Believe it!! Spot on flavors, preparation... amazing! Surprised by the reviews that the food is bland because I couldn't eat my dinner due to too much spice/heat. I like my Thai food at the near zero star heat level, and was told the dishes aren't that spicy. This is what all people who can tolerate spice/heat say. No option to request a spice/heat level, which is too bad because the quality and service were great. They are doing a good business, so clearly my issue is rare. I always come here for the pumpkin curry so I can't say anything about any other dishes offered here. The pumpkin curry is incredible & the employees/owners are Thai people so it doesn't get more authentic I'm going to guess. However I am an uncultured white girl so idk. If you come on a weekday avoid 12:00-12:30 because the wealthy yuppy high school kids from down the street have it flooded & hearing them speak to each other is like nails on a chalk board & will have you losing all faith for the future of humanity. read more

I have tried just about every Thai spot in town. I decided to give ThAiPAS a chance today. Let me tell you they did not disappoint. I decided to get two dishes. The first was the Pad Ka Pow Gai with a fried egg. I got the meal to go. The egg and rice were in one container and the chicken in another. This dish absolutely blew me away. I always order this dish from any Thai restaurant we visit. Something about chicken and basil that is such a great combination. The dish was spicy but just the right amount. The chicken was ground perfectly and was very juicy. Many places in town have this dish with large pieces of chicken, it just isn't the same unless it's ground. The second dish was Pad Thai Chicken. This is another of our go to favorites. The noodles were made perfectly and all of the ingredients were very fresh and had amazing flavors and textures. There was enough food after lunch to have a nice meal for dinner. I'm so glad there is finally a Thai restaurant in town that I will crave. I can't wait to try more on the menu. Inside The Grove, I got a combination plate of panang curry with beef and kua gling moo which is dry curried pork with jasmine rice and side of egg rolls! Both dishes were really flavorful and excellent portions. Definitely will be back many many more times. Staff was very sweet and friendly which made the experience that much better! Pad Thai was ok tasting... there was just a little chicken (that was dry and/or overcooked) and a few pieces of green onion. The rest was noodles.
