Definitely a huge thai fan, anytime we are in an area and I have a hankering for some food I go choose seem to be cheap tacos, spicy Thai food, and Indian buffets. now I know a lot of people recommend a different Thai spot in this area but to be honest, I'm not overly a fan of fancy Thai restaurants. I'm not a huge northern Thai person. I love a great bowl of noodles the way they were meant to be and realistically that's cheap. A lot of people try to fancy up a lot of these dishes and elevate the ingredients and the presentation and the ambience but really and truly this isn't what I look for in good pad. Thai and pad kee mao. I just want it done right authentic as possible fresh ingredients and as big a portion as I can possibly find. I think they did a great job of all that here and I really didn't regret coming here instead of the other place that I'm sure you'll see around the corner. Not to disrespect other place. It look delicious and I'm sure we'll try it there again but for this trip, we were very happy with the noodle dishes. They have here great taste great color, very fresh and good portion. read more

PAD THAI - 4 stars: thin noodles and tofu perfect texture, sauce sweet and savory balance was good just a tinge on the sweet side, enjoyable sesame undertones, fresh lime and veggie garnish would have made it a 5. AMBIANCE- 3.80 stars: floor to ceiling for windows make it nice and bright, sitting on a downtown corner makes for good ppl watching. My boyfriend and I love going to Toomie's for a date. Our favorite soup is the Tom Kah. No other Thai place comes close to the flavor of their Tom Kah. The Ma kur eggplant dish is phenomenal. I've had it many times and the eggplant is always perfect, never bitter. The service at Toomie's is consistently pleasant. We've been going to Toomie's for almost 4 years and we go at least every other week, if not weekly. Definitely one of the best downtown restaurants. read more

I wrote the following review in 2017. I dined at Toomies last night and to my delight I confirmed all of my observations from seven years ago. Please consider this Thai food gem in Bend. "I am a Thai food lover! Everywhere I go, I try as many Thai restaurants as I can, so it makes sense that I try what Bend has to offer. I dined at Toomies the other night and had some of the best Thai food in years! I started with spring rolls, they were delicately fried in obviously clean grease, came precisely cut and were delicious. Then came my standard Thai order... chicken Penang ( see picture) This dish was simply exquisite. I requested 4 of 5 stars and the hot was perfectly balanced to the flavor. The quantity of the food served should also be applauded. Two entrees easily feed 2 or perhaps 3 adults...and prices are most reasonable. Frankly, other than wanting a vibrant bar scene, I don't know what anyone chooses to eat at Noi INSTEAD of walking around the corner and have superior Thai at Toomies. Kudos to the wait staff...when's the last time a waiter didn't write your order on paper AND delivered exactly what you ordered? My gf was craving Thai and found this on Google (where i would've looked on Yelp lol). I was really surprised to see only 3.5 stars for this place. The other thai spots in the area had a different fusion taste which i wasn't quite a fan of. If im craving Thai, it's traditional Thai food. Anyway, when we got here, it didn't seem too busy at first for dining in but there were a handful of customers waiting for to go orders. We noticed almost immediately they didn't have quite a full staff so we braced ourselves for slow mediocre service. The lady up front who was hosting, was also serving, and running the to go orders. She was serving Probably about 6 tables including us and we were pretty impressed with not only the flavorful food, but we also didn't have any issues with the service. She was as quick, attentive, and if she was stressed... she didn't show it! When i see a restaurant that seems to be a little short staffed and doing their very best, it's a cherry on top to still feel like we received great service and left satisfied with full bellies. It's refreshing to see businesses up and running again. This will be our to go to spot for thai food when we're back in Bend! read more

Toomies was so good that during our four day stay in Bend - we visited twice. Parida (sp?) (the server and daughter of the family that works there) was - hands down - one of the reasons we came back. Great food / great staff / family operated -- Toomies checked all the boxes. We ordered Paht-Se-Yu (highly recommend the pork), Thom Kah w shrimp), fresh spring rolls, Massaman w shrimp), and pots of green tea. Ask for the heat level to be 3/5 or higher. Neither of us could understand why this place wasn't PACKED. That said - we loved the quiet. Oh - and the music on the stereo played all of our favorites. I always love Toomies like always, I never don't. But today it was awful. I know that it gets hard for the waitress because it's just her. But our food came out late as in it took forever and cold. We ordered drinks and appetizers and it took half an hour to get them with the ice in the glasses already melted. And the spring rolls and potstickers (our appetizers) were cold. And finding chicken in my tofu pad Thai isn't a big deal to me because I just picked it out, but to someone else it could be. read more

I felt really safe eating during the pandemic at the restaurant. They were very clean and made sure that the tables were set apart. The food was yummy but high in sodium for my palette. Hey... so... I came from central California... I've been all over the US and this is the best Thai food I've ever had. We got the green curry spicy, pad tai, some beef and veggie dish and the PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE, we tore that ish up. I think the little bit we had left over even tasted better a day later after it marinated some more in the fridge. I almost took off a star because they were really busy with take out orders so service was kind of slow but the food was so good and I think this place is super underrated so I still want to give 5 stars. Staff was super nice and accommodating of us and dietary restrictions we had in our party. It's walkable to everywhere else downtown. The food was incredible and they seated us right when we arrived at 7pm on a Friday. I particularly liked the crispy tofu appetizer and I am really not a tofu person, but it was delicious with the 2 sauces. When I'm back in bend I will definitely be back here! We found Toomie's from their Yelp reviews on our first night in Bend, but were reassured of our choice from our servers at Dogwood, who claimed it to be their favorite Thai food in town. We arrived to find the dining room fairly full, but were seated immediately at a nice table toward the back of the restaurant. Our server, although pulling double duty as a hostess, provided excellent, prompt and knowledgeable service. My wife chose the Drunken Noodles with tofu and I went for the fried rice variety, with beef, chicken and pork. Both dishes were served quickly, fresh and hot. We both enjoyed the flavor and spice of our selections and sampled each other's to check our choices. Service and atmosphere were both great and added to the experience. Drink selection included Thai beers that were served cold and paired well with our entrees. This was also one of the least expensive meals of our trip to Bend, with service and food far exceeding the price point. read more

Phenomenal dinner here! There are a few Thai places downtown that get a bit more noise, so wanted to try something different. They were very busy for a Wednesday night, so it was a tad slow, but so worth the wait. They prepared the Pad Thai and Fried Rice to be gluten free for our party, which was much appreciated by those that needed it. We also enjoyed the potstickers and Basil Chicken. So good! Honestly, the only reason I ate at Toomies was because Wild Rose was completely booked, but I'm glad I made the right choice in coming here. Not only is Toomies quiet and chill, but the food is also good. Eating at Toomie's is a crap shoot. Depending on who is in the kitchen on a given day you may end up with decent food or an oily mess. Regardless, the prices for dinner are simply too high for even the better quality outcome days. Weekday lunch is a heck of a deal though - various combo plates (include steamed rice, what passes for pad Thai here, iceberg lettuce with peanut sauce salad, and small serving of your entree choice) at a bargain price (under $8). Still, in spite of pretty good gai prow on the lunch special on good days for the kitchen, after several years of being regular Toomie's customers - lunch almost once a week - the inconsistency finally was enough to drive us away. Also an access note: while this says wheelchair accessible on the main heading, if someone in your party uses a wheelchair you'll need to know that all indoor seating is up a couple of steps from the entry level. What owners thought was acceptable for a friend of mine was to haul a dirty piece of plywood out of the kitchen for her to roll up to get to the seating. She declined and left. I would have too had I been she. As alternative to Toomie's, if you're looking for table service Thai food in Bend there is Typhoon (Bond Street) just up the street from Toomies.. (Gourmet and spendy.) Or the "Thai on the Fly" take out offered at the Taste of Thailand drive through (on Greenwood) for friendly people and good food at lower prices. Or there is Angel Thai (Division) which is no better than Toomie's but less expensive. Or Thai Thai in NW Crossing, which on a good day can be good enough if not very spicy. Otherwise, the nearest Thai option is Thai O in Redmond. But, for the most part, we've found it's best to go to Portland for our Thai food "fix". read more

We ordered from this restaurant over and over again When we got some bad fish they made it right. Something has changed dramatically. We got vegan Tom kha. A huge chunk of sausage appeared in the soup. The soup had a strange smell of ham. Ignored it at first then I went to take another spoonful and there it was I don't see how it's possible to accidentally drop a chunk of sausage in a vegan soup but when I had the delivery service called them they simply denied it there' no designing a picture. They have also changed their Fried rice is more like an oil soup with rice. If they have a new chef or a new staff they should think very carefully about watching over them read more

This was my favorite Thai place when I lived in Bend because of two reasons: 1) The first time I went there, the food was absolutely amazing. 2) There is always room, even for a decent-sized party showing up last minute with no reservation. I have come back multiple times for reason #2, but #1 isn't true anymore. The first time I went (pictured in the photos), everything was plated beautifully and tasted fresh. I knew I'd be back--and I have been, again and again--but each time wasn't the same as the first. Once, my plate of drunken noodles with duck came out cold and had the oil on it look like it was cooked first and sat there and waited for 30+ mins while the rest of the party's meals were cooked. Another time, I tried a rice dish I hadn't tried before and it just wasn't very flavorful even with the sauces I added to it. I ended up taking it to go and tweaked it at home myself. And never since my first visit was it plated the same aesthetically-pleasing way, and that's just odd--did the cook change? Get lazy? Decide to do without? I have since stuck with coming to this place for an appetizer because their shrimp springs rolls and peanut sauce (ask for extra, you will need it!) are really good and fresh tasting, but I have not enjoyed it as much as I did two years ago. PS: I really miss the seaweed salad rolls! Please bring them back! I will still give them 4 stars because of the price, the springs rolls, the pleasant, uncrowded atmosphere, and because of how many times I've been here (I mean it can't be that bad if I keep coming here, right? haha), but it would have been a 5 if it was based on my first experience only.. read more

Food is really good and lunch prices are affordable. However, I drove 45 mins to go to lunch there twice recently. Once was a Monday and they were closed and the second time, I arrived at 2:10 and they said they quit serving for the day, as they close at 2:30. There were a few customers still eating so I was pretty peeved that they wouldn't seat one more person. read more
