First time here. A cute little Mexicán restaurant at the corner of Alexander and Shepherd Dr. Casual ambiance, great service and the food was wonderful. Awesome place! If you need a large order of tacos for a breakfast, they are the place to call. I've used them several time for staff breakfasts, and they never disappoint. If there is a communication problem, it is probably because the person who answered the phone did not understand you. Be patient. You'll be glad you were. read more

I called a few times trying to hire them for a catering and the first few times they hunt up on me. When I finally did get through they kept changing their prices from what is posted. This is one of those parts that delivers and you probably wouldn't even know to stop in because it's in some random parking lot but let me Telya I was thoroughly impressed and they almost made five stars but I'll tell you below why they became four stars. Food: the street tacos were very tasty and full of flavor. The hot sauces they came out with the tacos were very good as well. I douse the meat in hot sauce and it was very tasty flavorful taco. This is where they get the four stars. The wings were absolutely amazing. They were fried to perfection and had some amazing taste to them as well but here is the kicker and why they get four stars. The wings were very low quality checking. I mean probably some of the lowest quality chicken I've ever tried. Attention management or owners do you guys a favor and order some quality chicken because the chicken you guys serve that day was low quality. I hope you all take this into consideration. Pronounced "Tie-heen" this is one of Baytown's little gems. Here is the rundown: 1) Quaint but do not be deterred by the look. Lovely and clean inside. 2) Unexpected variety from hamburgers to stuffed potatoes. 3) Great value! You will leave with a full tummy and your wallet won't be deflated as a result. I ordered the street tacos with bistec and they were flavorful and filling when paired with my charro beans(equally flavorful) and chips y queso. I would not order the chips and queso again because the chips had an overpowering corn flavor and the cheese was soupy. My companions opted for the infamous potato, veggie tacos, and quesadillas. Everyone left satisfied with their food. I will definitely be returning that shrimp stuffed potato I had been eyeing and I would recommend giving it a go. read more

Wow! I can't believe I've never reviewed Tajin Mexican Cafe and this is our go-to Tex-Mex place for street tacos, overstuffed baked potatoes and fabulous tortas. Located on Alexander in Baytown, you have to make a u-turn at the signal (if you're coming from Ward) to get to the restaurant. They offer dine-in and take-out and delivery through Waitr. If you dine in, they've always got the news or a sports game on and the place is clean! We've basically tried everything on the menu, but our favorites are the Hawaiian baked potato which is a HUMONGOUS baked potato with Canadian bacon (ham) , pineapple, sour cream, and butter. Holy cow, this is fantastic. You won't be able to finish it in one sitting. The Tajin potato is also great and comes with skirt steak, ham, sour cream, cheese and butter. Any potato you try, you're gonna love. The street tacos are a nice option too and you can do 3 or 5 with your choice of meat. The grilled onions are a nice touch and I always ask for extra. Grab an authentic torta on your way out for lunch the next day. They're perfect. If you dine in, they will bring you two different kinds of sauces (green and red) and you've ABSOLUTELY got to try their Jamaica lemonades. Wow, these are fantastic. This little gem of a place was shockingly wonderful. We stopped in for a late lunch and didn't really have high expectations. We had been driving for some time and needed to use the restroom. I coach in Baytown but live in League City. This is one of two places I could always go to when I am working on campus and can go out for lunch! Have had breakfast and lunch and have never had anything disappointing. The only thing on the menu I had and thought it was just OK was the baked potato. My favorite breakfast burrito is the egg and barbacoa. Plenty of barbacoa cooked into the eggs. They have great, very big pancakes as well. I am a huge fan of the buffalo chicken sandwich mainly for the home made buffalo sauce. It is very vinegar-y which I love. The burgers are very good and the fries are incredible! This was my first trip here and this place is awesome. It was kind of packed which is generally a good sign. The Tajin Torta is one of the best dang tortas I've ever had. The prices are reasonable and the place is very clean and tidy. Watch out for the tacos though if your super hungry. They run on the small side. The torta however was pretty big. Their menu has several things to choose from. Mexican fare, burgers, loaded baked potatoes, salads, and breakfast entrees.
