I love these guys. Not just because I started going in 1995, but because I've traveled the earth and still find them my favorite Indian food. I hope that you will continue to support them. I have over the years enjoyed when they've put Indian music videos on, while you're dining. Tip: try the Chicken Tikka Masala- Medium, their Lamb Vindaloo - Hot, their Tandoori Chicken off the dinner menu, the Vegetable Korma mild, the Bhuna with fish, and get ahold of me if you have other questions about menu items. I can't believe this place didn't have 5 stars because the food is exceptional. I got take out from here and my photos don't do it justice. The aloo mutter (medium spice) was flavorful, spicy and the potatoes were soft and tender. It came with basmati rice and I paired it all with an order of the butter nan. Party on my tastebuds! The inside had romantic lighting and offered an Indian experience with fun music and art. Service was fast and friendly! My order was ready within a few minutes. We went here for a graduation dinner with family (a large table) and they treated us like royalty; every dish was delicious, came out fast, and the service was friendly and attentive. Everyone was so impressed by the flavors of the dishes and the level of service in this well-kept secret of an Indian restaurant. I didn't know we had such a jewel in Fort Collins! They gave the graduate a free dessert of her choice and even made up a special batch of homemade chai just for one member of the group (and then offered the rest of it to her in a large to-go cup since they had already made it and it was the end of the night). We loved this place so much, the service was wonderful and had many services asking about our experience. The atmosphere was clean and well taken care. The food was outstanding! We started with vegetable samosas and loved all of the sauces that came with it. We shared an order of butter chicken and garlic nan which was wonderful and beyond delicious. The food here was great. We had various curries and naans and all were great. The service was incredible. We went on the night of the Super Bowl and they were so accommodating and appreciative of us being there. I had a virtual meeting with my company last night and decided to go out and grab one last takeout before the Stay at Home order was issued. Since I wanted to go out with a bang, I chose one of my favorite Indian restaurants in all of Fort Collins. The ordering online process was simple, and they took all the credit card information so I didn't have to present anything when I got to the restaurant. After calling to confirm my pick-up time, I headed out into the empty streets of FoCo. There was one woman ordering takeout ahead of me when I got to the restaurant, so I waited to the side, an appropriate distance away. The gentleman working the register let me know that my food was ready - off to the side where the buffet stood lonely and empty. I grabbed that, thanked him, and headed back to my car where I sanitized my hands. Once home, I opened the precious bag - chicken saag, chicken tikka masala and saffron rice. Tantalizing aromas spun through the air, steam rising from my bowl. I generally order hot spice, but I decided to go for mild in case I needed to share with others. The saag still held a nice heat, enough to create small beads of sweat on my forehead, and the chicken was fall-apart tender. The creamy chicken tikka masala cut through that spice with its rich, almost slightly sweet flavor, folding together to create a perfect flavor balance. I demolished the bowl during the meeting (sorry for that sight, coworkers), and have already had leftovers for breakfast. I truly believe in supporting local as best I can, and was glad to be able to have the ability to support this wonderful place from afar. read more

My friend had Chicken Ticca Masala and loved it, as well as the fluffy rice, the naan was piping hot and so delicious. I had the vegetarian combo with spinach. Dahl and Chanda masala. Vegetarian combo came on a platter that reminded me of eating a banana leaf in Kerala Friends, friendly, staff, talented cooks, delightful lunch, in a pleasant and relaxing restaurant I highly recommend and we'll go back when I am in Fort Collins. read more

Though if they're not as enlightened they have some kid friendly things they can serve your kids One of the few Indian food places I've seen that can do this, kinda nice that you really can eat here with the family. Even with pickier kids. Quality, awesome Chicken Tikka Masala, I'd suggest starting at a medium spice level there and work your way up :-) one of our kiddos feeling adventurous ordered the Chicken Korma mild, and loved it! Around the corner and up the street from the Drunken Monkey, we found this excellent restaurant during the "Great Plates," event. The only negative was the search for parking. We ended up parking three blocks away. On the plus side, everything else. The rice was seasoned with saffron. So luscious! I never use that word, but it fits here. The naan was warm and fresh, and there's a good selection. Atmosphere is comfortable, casual and nicely kept. We even had a Bollywood movie on the tv to watch if we wanted. For a Friday night it wasn't crowded and we didn't need reservations. We are definitely going again. read more

The Taj Mahal is a fitting name for a restaurant that is a jewel and gathering place in Ft. Collins. The food is great and the service is wonderful. Whether you are dining in or taking out the experience is great. They also have an incredible lunch buffet. There are many traditional offerings in vegetarian or meat options. Any dish can be made vegetarian which is a plus. The curries are flavorful and deep in aroma and spices. The byrannis are great and they also have kebabs, rices, naan bread, and other authentic Indian cuisine. They also have a full bar for those interested in libations. My go to dish is the Saag Paneer wish Garlic Naan bread. I have never had better Saag Paneer than here. My wife lived in the UK and we've traveled all over the world and we always compare the Saag to here. I also love the Chicken Korma and on a hot day a mango lassi is sure to cool you off. The restaurant is well appointed and in an ideal location in the heart of Old Town. Service is fast and the food is fresh and amazing. read more

This is the best Indian restaurant in Fort Collins, no question. It may even be the best Indian restaurant in Colorado. Quite a claim, but here's a big reason why: they make the best saag paneer I have ever had! I have never traveled to India, but I have eaten saag paneer at many, many Indian restaurants across the US and UK. It's my favorite Indian dish... and Taj Mahal does it better than any other restaurant. The paneer itself is fantastic. Perfectly firm and rich and salty. And the curry is rich, creamy, and flavorful, without being over the top in any way. Saags seem to suffer from being either too watery (from excess liquid in the spinach), or too greasy (if too much oil and cream gets added). Taj Mahal hits the perfect balance. I am always trying to replicate it in my own recipe, and so far (while my efforts are getting tastier) I haven't even come close. Beyond the saag - everything about this place is great. All of their curries have amazing depth of flavor. Protein-wise, I would say go for veggie, chicken, lamb, then seafood, in that order. The servers are always super friendly and attentive. Could the dining room use a bit of a facelift? Probably, yes, but Taj Mahal could never change a thing and it will always be perfect. read more

Taj Mahal has fantastic Indian food and is my favorite in Fort Collins. I have been coming here for years because of my love affair with their sag paneer. I recently got carry out and did plain sag with 2 orders of naan and rice. The smell coming out of that little paper bag was almost too much for me to focus on driving safely home. When I got home I eagerly ate half the saag and rice. Creamy, spicy with the perfect blend of spices, I was really happy. The naan I handed off to the hubs which I couldn't believe he waited until the next day to eat but he ate it all. The next day I polished off my leftovers and they were almost as good. Saag is definitely better eaten the same day but it helped continue the happy juices flowing 24 hours later. read more

EAT HERE! The food is incredibly amazing. We've had the chicken ticca masala, lamb saag, garlic naan and chicken coconut curry. Everything was flavorful, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The owner was so sweet and helpful, he gave us rice pudding and vegetable fritters on the house! (Both were excellent and well done - I have no idea what was in it but so tasty.) We returned to Taj Mahal after COVID lockdowns to celebrate a decade birthday, and we were simply enchanted! Service was impeccable with attention paid to full water glasses and superb chai cups. Food was excellent: sophisticated seasonings of five different and delicious entrees. Each person in our party expressed how superb the flavors were. Enjoyment was evident throughout our meals. This is my first time in Fort Collins. I'm visiting from out-of-state and was craving really good Indian food and I was so happy I chose Tajmahal to try. I had the Lamb Vindaloo as a main entree and it was delicious. It also came with a generous portion of rice. The naan was perfect. I also really enjoyed the vegetable samosa for appetizer and yummy Kheer (rice pudding) for dessert. The servings were big enough for two people and reasonably priced. Casual atmosphere and the dining tables felt well spaced out. I really appreciated the great table service by my server, Kirtee. I had such a great dinner and experience that I want to come back for another meal before I leave Fort Collins. If you like Indian food, This is a restaurant you won't want to miss. read more
