Manager assuming my daughter's age, then telling me it was "my responsibility to tell him her age", even though he didn't ask. Repeatedly saying "she doesn't look 11", and me asking what does he mean by that? Showed him proof of her age and he said again, "she doesn't look 11". Then telling me after some back and forth that I can leave. Completely unacceptable behavior and downright creepy to say that in front of a preteen girl. Simply put the food is gross. Even for a buffet this is the lowest of Lowe's. All of the different dishes tasted exactly the same. The place was not very clean. This was definitely a one and done restaurant for me. I will never eat here again. read more

The food was fine. The restaurant looked clean. Those are the good things. This really is a more of a warning. Your bill will automatically be charged a 15% tip. Period. You don't get to choose that. The waitress brings you drinks. That's it. I like to tip what I think that service is worth. I don't like it automatically added for me. So, on a bill of $106, my family ended up tipping $45. I'm sorry that just too much. It's a buffet not a full service sit down thing. I handed the waitress a $20 for a tip and my daughter left another $10 on the table. When I went to pay my bill of $106, $15 more was added to my bill. I put a line through that, wrote "left tip at table", and recalculated. Then I signed. When I saw the charge on my online banking I called the restaurant. The manager was very rude, overtalking me and instructed me to return to the store and he'd give me the $15 back. But that's my time and gas to go do that. He didn't apologize, acted like I'd done HIM wrong, and refused to credit it back to my card. The point is, though I had clearly wrote on the receipt and showed my total minus the tip, he went ahead and batched it for the higher amount. The irony is not lost on me that what my family actually did tip in cash was twice the amount he was charging us to pay his waitress. Restaurants need to just let people tip and stop making it mandatory that the customer pay their employees. Personally I won't eat there again. Just what the world needed: another Asian (con)fusion restaurant! (Despite the name and sushi area, this is NOT a Japanese restaurant.) The food wasn't bad...but there are plenty of other Chinese buffets around offering the same. I did appreciate the fried frog legs--always a treat. The inarizushi could have used more rice stuffing and less sprinkled red pepper heat. I didn't try the steak but the person in our group who did could have used a knife, it was so tough. The place was clean and the service what you'd expect at a buffet. Worth a try to see if it's your thing. For my part, the buffet in Ashland is closer. read more

The food was OK mediocre at best my first time visiting. Everybody was very very nice and I quite enjoyed it but each time I visited since it has gone downhill, there was an incident with my server where her and the manager put me and my fiancé in the very back away from other customers saying they had had supposedly a complaint about us, and when we confronted them, they admitted that it was because we did not tip enough. The hibachi grill was excellent... you choose your ingredients and the cook prepares it for you. Salads and deserts will surprise you and the foods are fresh. I am not a sushi person, but those that partook enjoyed the variety. read more

When I heard about Huntington getting a new Japanese/Chinese restaurant and buffet,  I was excited to try it out, and at first glance, I was impressed with the selection.  Until I tried the food. I have eaten all types of Japanese, Chinese, Thai, etc. food across the US, and I am what most would consider a "foodie". So, I filled my plate with some of my all-time favorites that were on the buffet, and to say the least, I was so disappointed.  None, and I do mean none, of the dishes that I tried even had a resemblance in taste to any of my favorites. I know that two people can cook the same recipe, and it will vary in taste a little bit, but not to the point that it is unfit to eat.  All of the seafood and shrimp dishes that I  tried were overcooked, tough, and had a hard spongy texture.  The so called "steak" included on the buffet would better be classified as an unknown cut of beef which are thinly sliced similar to what like you would use for a sandwich, and they are seasoned with something that I couldn't recognize. After finding that 3/4 of the hot buffet items were un-eatable, I figured that I would at least be able to get my money's worth of sushi. I grabbed 2 or 3 of the little plates of sushi (California roll, spicy tuna roll, and a shrimp tempura roll)  and after one bite of each, they tasted nothing like I am accustomed to. So, after trying over 75% of the food on the buffet, the only item that I can recommend to anyone at this restaurant is the fountain soda drinks, if you are able to get the waitresses to get you a refill. Takaya is a 1 out of 10 on my scale.  A total waste of money. read more

First visit was for Sunday lunch & we were pretty impressed! Considering there's only one other Chinese buffet in the Barboursville area & they don't have a large variety nor do we particularly care for their food, we're pretty pleased to have a new buffet option in the area. The cashier & waitstaff were attentive & courteous, the restaurant was nicely updated & very clean, there was plenty of variety to choose from -- we look forward to visiting again! Our only "complaints" (more like suggestions) would be that the food warmers may have needed turned on a little earlier as a few of the "hot" items were only lukewarm, my husband said the steak needed some seasoning/marinade, & I would've liked a little more variety in sushi, simply because having it on a buffet is a great way to try it (add crunchy rolls, please!). read more

I've eaten at Takaya's 6 times the last 4 weeks and it's become my favorite restaurant in the Tri-state area. I love the variety of food they offer and at an all you can eat price! We were visiting from Mechanicsville Va and our daughter lives up the hill from the restaurant so we wanted to try it. food was very good, place was very clean and staff was great. I was even able to get my steak cooked exactly the way I wanted it. the price was great for what you get much cheaper than ones at home. the only negative thing I have to say is the booths were a bit tight. otherwise, highly recommend and home they succee. read more

Typical chain buffet food. Shrimp was mushy, sushi was made cheap, mostly imitation crab and avocado. Very understaffed. It was hard to get a drink refilled. The place is newly remodeled and clean, staff were friendly but extremely busy. $84 and change for 4 adults. Visited there last night and won't be going back. The cashier was deeply involved in trying to bite off a piece of apparently tough meat from his dinner. After a minute of this, he turned his attention to us. Rang up the meals, had us sign receipt. Told us to take said signed receipt with us along with the first receipt he gave us. Possibly hoping we would add a tip, who knows? Food was average for a buffet, though lo mein was cold and Sushi was dry. Disappointed. The first time we went it was great. They were packed, the food was hot, fresh and tasty. Second time, not as busy, food was lukewarm, server (or whatever you call them) was pretty much nonexistent. Third time, not crowded at all and it was a Sunday afternoon around church crowd time. A good portion of the food was cold, frozen soggy green beans were used for the garlic green beans, no more coconut shrimp, less real food options, more cheap fried foods, server once again mostly nonexistent. Fourth time, even fewer options, food was cold and it had only been open fifteen minutes, server slammed our drinks onto the table, said "two waters", stormed away and we never saw her again. I want to add that we hadn't had any interaction with her because we went directly to the buffet after we chose our table. That was enough for me and we won't be back. It's such a shame because we were really happy that there was a new Chinese buffet. read more
