Can an oil change, change your life? Probably not but this was one of the best experiences I've had getting my oil changed, hands down. The team was efficient and knowledgeable. But what I really appreciated about the service was the three people who completed the work who were incredibly kind and dedicated to their jobs and providing good service. As an introvert who usually hates talking to people, I was absolutely delighted by these three auto experts. they appeared to truly enjoy their jobs and each other. If folks from management read these you should know that the team on the morning shift of August 23 is a huge asset to your company. read more

This was a 10/10. First, you are greeted with a water bottle and explanation of how the order of oil changes will occur since there are 2 bays so it can be confusing. Second, you don't get out of car and are actively informed through the entire process and they call out checks and double check everything. Third, the young men working that day were friendly, explained things and absolutely professional. It was so easy and pleasant that I am actually from Pennsylvania and I usually use Jiffy Lube but plan to drive the extra 20 minutes and try the Take 5 neared me. read more

I do not leave bad reviews, but for them, I need to. So far I was doing my vehicles there but no more. Waiting more than 30 minutes in line and in a car at 110F. People on both sides finished and gone. They turned other people that were stopping behind me to other lanes, and they entered before me for their service, so I decided to leave after the so-called manager said that I was disrespectful for telling him that everybody else finished, and I still wait in line. This is not how you speak with your old and new customers. If the customer in front of me had a longer service, they needed to point me to another lane like they did for those behind me. I will spread the word to all that I sent to them to not go there anymore. This is not worth the time and the money to get insulted for a bottle of water. I did the service elsewhere. read more

I had the worst experience here that I have ever had at an actual business location. When I arrived, I had to wait about 30ish minutes before an employee came to me and asked me to move over to the other line( i said but they just pulled up) He said maam im trying to help you to be able to go next. So, I pulled to the next line as instructed. Not even 5 minutes later that row is done and the person that was originally behind me is now In front of me. 15 more minutes im still waiting... finally after and hour i am pulled up, still waiting. The employees seemed like they were in no hurry whatsoever. One of the guys was just steady hitting his vape pen. After someone finally came to help me , he tries to sell me something And i let him know that it wasn't my vehichle so I couldn't approve any further purchases. Well, after that i thought it was already poor service but it got worse. The guy steady was asking me Questions . The gentleman that asked me to pull up and said he was going to make sure i got a discount for the "confusion " So after they changed my oil that was ALL that they did and i mean that is it. they didn't check the fluids the wiper blades or anything... after the guy stated looks like you need new blades(not even giving the service that i paid for! This was my first visit to Take 5 and was easily the best oil change experience I've ever had!!!! I arrived as soon as they opened, and Alex and Jackson were already ready to work with the store fully open (that never happens!!!). They were chipper, conversational, and gave me a very personalized experience. I was immediately greeted with a bottle of water and a "good morning!" I only came in for an oil change, but I got a full free check and top off on all my fluids and filters. Great value for my visit. The work was extremely thorough, and Jackson really took the time to walk me through my options, their recommendations, and the answers to my questions. These two men were so eager to help and obviously wanted to see me leave feeling happy. You truly don't see service like that very often. Great people and great place. The first several times I had my truck service here I was impressed, but it has dramatically gone downhill over the past several months. Today, although there is only one other car in the bay and no cars waiting, it took 22 minutes before anyone even spoke to me or started work. And yet, there were literally seven guys standing around talking, joking, punching each other and generally having a great time mostly talking about who is going to go on lunch break next. This is no longer the quick solution, and frankly the flippant attitude of the staff is very offputting. They seem to have lost their way and no longer adhere to their brand standard. I am writing this review to warn others based on my personal experience. After getting an oil change at the Take 5 on Pantops, my Jeep made it less than 20 miles before the oil blew out and the engine was ruined. The certified Jeep dealership that inspected it found that the oil cap had not been properly secured after the service. Because of this, I now need an entirely new engine. The customer service throughout this ordeal has been shocking. It was nearly impossible to get a human on the phone--let alone anyone with any authority who could actually help. When I finally reached someone, they immediately insisted they had done nothing wrong and claimed they had video "proof." Yet the actual, certified dealership inspection clearly showed the opposite. Instead of taking responsibility, I was pushed into a long and frustrating process where my only option was to submit a generic online form. It took repeated attempts before their insurance company finally reached out. Meanwhile, the franchise owner at the Pantops location offered no support, no accountability, and no willingness to resolve the situation. It felt as if they were simply hoping I'd give up. This was one of the most careless and disappointing customer service experiences I've ever had. Based on what happened to me, I strongly recommend not trusting your vehicle to this location. My experience was expensive, exhausting, and completely avoidable. Please do not use them. read more

I have been going to this location since they opened. The service has always been wonderful - until my last visit. I arrived on a Friday around 6PM. All 3 bays were filled. I was greeted by a young man I had not seen before who was relatively friendly and communicated with me adequately. I waited behind a vehicle in one of the bays for roughly 30 minutes before I was admitted in to the bay. The other 2 bays had vehicles in them, and there were 3-4 employees working. I waited for quite a while before the young man came to me and apologized for the delay, stating they had "dropped a tool" while doing another oil change, and it had taken a long time to retrieve the tool. I continued to wait. Another young man came up and I told him to be sure to check the tires (my tire sensor has stopped working), and he told me that yes, they do that as part of the service. I continued to wait. During this time, 2-3 of the employees stood in front of my vehicle talking and vaping. I waited roughly another 30 minutes before they even began draining the oil. No aplologies. Near the end of the oil change, I rolled down my window and again requested to have my tires checked and filled if necessary. They would not have done this if I hadn't asked again. I WAS THERE FOR ONE AND A HALF HOURS ALL TOGETHER. Unacceptable. I will not go back. read more

Went to get an oil change, and not even thirty minutes later I was broke down in the middle of the road not even a mile from the location. They broke my battery bracket that held it in, which was the main issue and why it broke down. They also left my windshield fluid unscrewed and sitting on top. They may be quick with what they do, but I plan to go somewhere else and you should too. read more

I went there this morning, got the premium synthetic oil change. Have been there several times before and everything was good Today was a totally different story. Started out normal enough, Dwayne the gentleman assisting me was both very helpful and respectful He explained that I didn't need an oil filter this time but next oil change was the recommendation until manager JoJo arrived and proceeded to give me the entire speech about air filters, I asked him to please stop I was not getting an oil filter today and was already told I didn't need one Joe only became more intense, and confrontational I have to say it was scary, he was very intense I was told that he didn't want my money only for me to leave. Joe told me to NEVER come back. And then he placed the return sticker on my windshield. Joe seems very confused, While this was going on Dwayne was finishing up on my car, Dwayne came to the window to explain that a screw had broke when Joe ripped it from his hand and said he'd fix it I asked Joe to take a picture, he did not, what he did do it pretend to attach the screw to my car however I saw him stick it in his pocket Check the camera. Even though I live in Harrisonburg now, I made a point of coming to Pantops Charlottesville! Take 5 in Pantops is the best. I had thought it was going to be the same service at any location, but after going to the one in Harrisonburg, I'm realized this one is special! I went to Harrisonburg a week ago and had to wait for over an hour, then leave before even getting service done to make it to class on time. In that time, workers barely talked to me. Over inflated my tires causing one to blow a couple of hours later. Informed store and they stated it was impossible and that I was lying and must've over inflated them myself. Place that put the new tire on said that the others were filled to 63 (Take 5 oil change stated they filed them to 36) and that I'm lucky they all didn't pop. Went in for a quick oil change and ended up with an extra 150 bucks of cost to change my tire and a week driving on a spare. read more
