I gave a good review in the past. I later realized parts were missing from my car. Dust covers, pins for covers and screw caps over my valve cover gasket and other otems were missing. Some type of disposable packaging was left on my valve cover gasket. My motor eventually died. I now have a car that I will not take to this place. read more

NEGATIVE STARS. I took my son's car there to have it checked out because the ABS and traction control lights were on. I get a call that it needs new brakes, rotors, and something with the transmission to pass inspection. I told them I didn't ask them to do an inspection. He said ok and I approved a charge for $200 diagnostics for the lights (outrageous charge btw). Later they call and tell me what's wrong and that they haven't started the work on the other stuff and I say "great, I didn't approve work on that!" CHRIS gets on the phone and yells at me that I approved it and he's not letting me back out. He says he has possession of the car and he'll do what he sees fit. Long story short, I have to get my lawyer involved, threaten to sue them, and send the owner a recording of that conversation before they'll agree I don't have to pay the $1,300 worth of repairs I TOLD THEM NOT TO DO. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. They shouldn't be allowed to do business. Meineke Corporate won't do anything because they're "locally owned and operated." read more

Horrific. Used to be one of the best places in town. I dont recognize any of the workers now. They charged $105 for a basic oil change. No high mileage no full synthetic. Thats ludicrous. Its $60 a mile away and 3 months ago they charged $55. Their oer hour rate is $169 an hour. Thats dealership rates. Worst sign of all. They send u a text for feedback after your appointment. We told the man at the front desk that I am a travel RN and needed my car to leave town on Sunday. Then a gentlemen called back and stated he made a mistake and was supposed to contact a different customer. He stated he would call when my car was ready for pick up. I went to Meineke because I suspected my brakes needed replacement, and it was also time to replace my spark plugs. I scheduled an appointment and was quickly informed that my brakes were fine and that they replaced the spark plugs. Seemed great! I was happy they didn't perform unnecessary maintenance. $226 for the plugs. Then the saga began. Driving the car later, the check engine light came on and it wouldn't go over 40 MPH. I brought it back and they told me it was one of the ignition coils, which they replaced. $310 more. That didn't fix the problem. I brought it back again and they spent hours messing around in the engine, including replacing fuel injectors. They still couldn't fix it, and returned it to me still broken, but did not charge me. Until this point I was frustrated with the situation, but pleased that they were being honest and that they didn't charge me when they couldn't fix the problem. At their instruction, I took the car to the Mazda dealer in town. Turns out the problem was the fact that they didn't use OEM plugs, which I felt they could have figured out. Also, they left one of my fuel injectors uninstalled and just sitting in the engine bay! And lastly, I was told that my rear brakes were so worn down that there was metal-on-metal contact and it would be unsafe to drive home. This is why I feel they deserve one star - their maintenance was shotty and left my car in worse condition than it arrived in, they left parts uninstalled under the hood, and failed to diagnose my brakes properly, the latter two of which are serious safety issues. Let me preface this by saying about a month or so ago we brough our 2012 Kia Optima in for an oil change, and everything was great. I'm not sure what has happened since then to change the level of competence and customer service, but I highly suggest you do NOT bring your car here. Today, we dropped the car off and requested the team look at the front driver seat to determine what was broken as well as inspect a rattling sound on the front driver side wheel. The car was dropped off at 11:45 am/12pm ET; we were told they were closing at 4pm but the diagnostic works should be complete by then. At 3:15pm, we had not received a call to provide us an update, so we called the shop and we were told to head back over because the diagnostic work was done. We were also informed that a thorough inspection was performed, and that the seat could not be repaired today because they didn't have the part(s) and would need to order them. They suggested we get work done to repair the rattling noise, but said they would have to book a different appointment given that they were closing soon. Everything else that happened after that phone call is an absolute nightmare and I cannot believe this business is allowed to continue to function. My fiancé arrived to pick up the car shortly before 4PM, only to see that the car had never been moved, and then to be informed that someone had lost the keys. That's right, the repair shop with the ONE job to keep the customer's keys safe and visible - LOST THE KEYS. My fiancé sat in the waiting area for almost an hour with no updates, while NOT A SINGLE PERSON WORKING THERE thoroughly looked for the keys. They told him they would call someone to "make a new key AND a new fob" but it would be another 2 hours. He grabbed his third Uber of the day and came home. When he returned to the shop for the FOURTH time today, they gave him ONLY a key, NO FOB. So now, the price of the car has just decreased because we have a key but no fob. Since they are closed tomorrow, we have to wait until Monday to MAYBE receive the "promised" fob. The staff was nice enough to not charge for the diagnostic work as well as the creation of the new key and fob, but that in NO way makes up for the mind blowing lack of customer service we received today. We will NEVER be going back to this institution, or any other Meineke location for ANY reason. You have lost customers FOR LIFE. Seriously, what repair shop cannot even keep track of the customers' keys in a 4 hour window? It is just unbelievable what happened today. I am currently waiting for a call back from corporate to discuss this in further detail with them. Shameful, absolutely shameful what happened today. read more

Tldr: friendly professional service, diagnoses my car and didnt try to sell me on unnecessary procedures. Long wait time if they are busy, but they will tell you that upfront, so it isnt a surprise. Friendly service even when they are absolutely swamped. I brought my car in for a diagnosed because it had developed some new sounds following my drive down from Maine. The guys here were able to figure out what was causing the new noises, that my rotors were etched and that my power steering was making noise. They also told me that neither issue was a safety issue or going to cause long term damage to the car, my (recently replaced) front brake pads were just going to wear out faster. I ended up walking out of there with a plan to check on the issues when I came in for oil changes, and take care of the rotor/pads when it was needed. One of the things I found most impressive is that they didn't try to sell me on replacing the pads and rotors right then; they were honest about both issues just causing noise and the accelerated wear on the brake pads. That is the kind of professional service I like to see from a business. Based on this visit I'll definitely be bringing both our cars here for service, and if you need something for your car I would recommend giving this location a try. One caveat, they were swamped today and they were quoting 2 to 3 hours for some service work. I'd recommend making an appointment early in the morning *or* calling ahead to ask how busy they are. The guy at the front said some days are swamped like today and some days are slower, so call in advance if you're short on time. read more

My son took his Toyota Tacoma in for an inspection. They failed the inspection because of play in a the front wheel bearing. The estimate to replace it was over $1,000!!!! This included a new hub assembly which was $275. This is less than a 2 hour job, and the part from Toyota is only $225 and aftermarket is around $100 (which is what they would use). The Toyota dealer charges less than $600 to replace the wheel bearing. I have personally done 3 of these as a do it yourselfer and the whole job takes me 90 minutes. In addition, they found several other items not affecting the inspection that were misdiagnosed. They said the CV joint boot was split, it was literally 2 weeks old and the grease on it was from the installation - they said it was ripped. They wanted to replace the whole axel. All I can say is for those of you with students at UVA, make sure to stay clear of this Meineke garage if they need service on their vehicle. Took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation appointment. Ended up getting an inspection report that wanted to sell me $1,225 in services. I spoke to a Meineke technician on the phone and asked for some time to make my decision. I immediately called around to other shops and found the same services for literally half the cost. I called Meineke back to say I did not want to go forward with service, and even offered to pay for the inspection labor, but I was told that would not be an issue and nothing had happened to my car. Once I go to pick up my car, I am met with $215 of repairs that I was told I was responsible for. The worst part of it all is I could have had the same services done down the street for $100 less. Since the company does free brake pad checks I took it there when the brake light came on in my BMW. I knew my front brake pads needed to be changed so wanted to see if they'd be cheaper than the dealership. It took them 2 hours to look at the car while I waited there and then tried to tell me that even though the brake pad was still there but needed to be replaced in the next month, I should have my whole braking system redone (pads, rotor, fluids) and since there were a few bugs in my air filter (that got changed within the past month) I need that replaced too. It went from a free service and maybe $150 for the brake pads to trying to get me to pay $900. I came back to have another issue looked into and it's a bit more challenging than anticipated but I thrilled that I now know what is wrong and how to go about the repair. Had my vehicle a total of FIFTEEN hours all to say I had a "faulty wire" which was changed. I was charged $350.00. One day later, the damn check engine light came back on with the same exact message it read two days prior. I drove straight there (0730) expecting they would fix it, or at least look at it. They had my car 5 hours, and no update so I called and was told they were "Googling what it might could be" but it was still in the parking lot because they were, "just swamped and short staffed." I found a REPUTABLE shop and it was diagnosed, fixed, and I was placed in a safe, reliable car to drive in the interim... unlike these morons that said I was safe to drive. I've already written a review on Google from the last time I had work done at Meineke, but my second experience there was just as good, so I had to find some way to pay it back. Long story short, the first time they saved me about $1200 in unnecessary repairs a different mechanic was trying to convince me I needed. This second time, I brought my car in for a noise in my left front wheel, and a burnt rubber smell every time I drove it. They found out that it was just a rock lodged in the brake pad, they fixed the issue, and didn't charge me a cent, not even for labor. Meineke helped me fix issues with all of them. They even drove my stick shift car home, because I don't know how to drive stick! They could have taken me to the cleaners (I literally asked them once if I could pay them to replace/fix anything else to make sure the car lasted as long as possible), but they didn't. Brought my 2008 Escalade here because the brakes were rubbing - fully expecting a "brake job". They called me promptly in the am and reported they found nothing wrong - but that grinding the rotors would likely eliminate the sound but wasn't necessary - but cost $90.
