Finding this Mister Transmission was a joy--and let's face it, no one EVER said, "I want to get my…read moretransmission replaced." Owner Katherine Hepburn, husband Ron, and the team were wonderful to deal with. They are truly passionate about cars. The cabinet display of all the muscle cars they have refurbished is proof! They're also practical/frugal with their recommendations. It's a family-run operation. They are busy but eager to be flexible with scheduling, pickups and dropoffs. Highly recommend this business.

Normally I don't like to write bad reviews on here even when their service is not on par or worse…read more But I just can't find words to describe my disappointment for the poor service and dishonesty that they put on display during the over month period I was dealing with them on my BMW transmission rebuilt job. I brought my car to them for a check-up as my dash display shows "Transmission Malfunction ". They said they'll drop the pan and do this and that for this amount of money, shouldn't need a total rebuilt, I believed them and left my car to them. Then I got a call saying I need to pay $1400 more as the torque converter needs to be replaced. That was unexpected, so I started to ask around and thinking well, bad luck, it's still cheaper than a total rebuilt. Plus they assured me a two year warranty and told me everything should be ok after this job is done. Little did I expected is after they charged me $2K+ when I pick up the car, they said they can't give me warranty and my "Transmission Malfunction" indicator will most likely be on later (which it did 24hrs later) because there's other parts like valve body needs to be replaced, it's going to cost me this huge amount, way more than the total rebuilt that other shops quoted me. I felt cheated, and figured their trick was to keep adding jobs to initial quote and still not giving you guaranty if it's fixed so they can keep adding more jobs to it. I said I will call their head quarter to resolve this, then the manager Steve finally agreed to fix it within other shops average total rebuilt cost. But just when I'm ready to bring the car in, that same manager changed his mind and said he couldn't remember agreeing to it and my warranty does not cover anything even at that point I already paid 2K and problem still not fixed! I felt disgusted to continue dealing with him after he lied to my face and went to another shop and got the problem fixed. He even called and changed his mind again after and tried to get me to bring the car in and I knew he can't be trusted at that point. Which is proven to be right as the second shop that I went to told me at one point Mister Transmission sent my car to their shop to get a diagnosis as they couldn't figure out what the problem was. So, guys, do yourself a favor: if you don't want to go through what I went through, don't ever go to Mister Transmission at 1361 The Queensway location. One star is even over rating for this shop!

At Joe's (the manager's} discretion, and without consulting me, a tire rotation was not completed because one of the four tires was newer and he had concerns that the rotation would negatively impact my car. It was not until he told me the job was completed and the car was taken down that I asked about the tire rotation, and he informed me it was not completed. Since I was coming to the limit on my lunch hour and because I had paid for the service and was not consulted on the decision not to render the service, I asked Joe to provide me with a note allowing me a free tire rotation once I got a second opinion. I guess it's the little actions that count at this point because I noticed that he wrote on the invoice "1 Free Tire Rotation at next Service". I had to tell him, "No, not at next service, at my discretion." - I wasn't about to pay for more services in order to receive a service I had already paid for. I took Joe's concerns regarding my car to another trusted professional (mechanical engineer with 30+ years of experience and published author in car engineering) who advised me to get the tires rotated. When I arrived for the second time to a pre-booked appointment, I was told that there were no spots available and I would have to return a third time. At this point, I informed Joe that he had my phone number and could have called to reschedule before I wasted another lunch hour driving to the auto shop. After seeing my frustration, Tim, a mechanic at the shop asked a neighbouring auto shop to use their equipment in order to complete the tire rotation. Although the job was finally completed, it cost me additional gas, additional hassle and an extra hour of my time to get it done. The mechanics (Tim and one other) were fantastic and changed my air filter for free after seeing my distress. During the discussions, Joe did remain civil and outwardly polite and he did say "sorry" as I was leaving. However, the entire experience was time consuming and stressful and not worth the savings. It is not okay to leave a paid job unfinished and not inform the customer until they follow up.

Ben from Dixie-Bloor Service was very friendly on the phone when I called for an appointment. I arrived the morning on time and was greeted quickly and was told Ben would be with me shortly. After speaking with Ben and leaving my contact info, he told me it would be about an hour and I'd get a call with a full estimate after he had performed the inspection. Ben called an hour almost to the minute later with my estimate and a recommendation that other work I had asked him to perform was not necessary at this time. This is why I keep going back to Dixie-Bloor. They are friendly, quick to respond with a truthful appointment window, and will not perform work if it's not needed. On the phone call I asked him to look into another regular maintenance job and since it was on the lift, if he could he might as well do it also. He was so helpful and accommodating that even though it was a very busy day and it was unscheduled work, he kindly performed the extra task. The work was done earlier than quoted and I went back to pay and I brought a case of 12 cold adult beverages in tow to show my thanks. Can't say enough good things about Dixie-Bloor Service. I'm very glad they are in my area. -Dale

This review is for the location at 215 Islington Ave. I would NEVER go there again. A total scam…read more I have never been this angry with a mechanic in the 25 years of my driving career. We got a quote to get the gearshift selector cable and the neutral safety switch replaced: $534.88 in labour and $1121.20 in parts plus HST. We said go ahead. Then, when they tried to replace the parts, THEY BROKE THE BOLT and said the only way to fix it is to pay additional $3000 to get the transmission replaced. We told them this was unacceptable so they said they'd just weld the broken bolt back together, without installing the parts. They said they couldn't return the parts so ended up charging us the full $1121.20 plus HST for the parts which we ended up taking home with us. Then, on top of that, they had the audacity to charge us $484.88 plus HST for labour, ie the original quote for REPLACING the parts minus a $50 discount, ie. THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE PARTS BUT CHARGED US FOR THAT WORK ANYHOW. This is absolutely outrageous. They should have charged us for the welding if anything which I cannot imagine being this expensive. Overall a terrible experience. I feel we've been taken advantage of.

Gotta admit I was a tad hesitant to take my vehicle here for service given the W5 news coverage…read morethat the brand received a year or two ago but I was in a bind as the heat had cooked the battery in my Jeep and I had stuff to do! I had previously called CAA (rip off), Visited Canadian Tire (double rip off) and even had a fleeting thought about going back to the dealership... HA!!!! (See my review of Islington Chrysler for more details). But when I called AG+R the gent (Eugene) I spoke with was friendly, helpful and gave a quick quote and timeline. I came in right before opening at 8am and they were already taking people in to get them assessed, quoted and into the queue so parts could be ordered and customers serviced promptly at opening. There were two prices for a replacement battery, acceptable and Canadian Tire Crazy (CTC). I opted for the more reasonable price, the battery was ordered and delivered within 15 minutes. $280 all in about 25 minutes later I was paid up and back in my car and on my way. Boom. Car is running great again, and I really appreciated how they tried their best to find an affordable quality option to get me on my way as quickly as possible. Look forward to taking my future business here as it's close to home and offer great service.
