Please read details to save you money and trouble-- I visited Take 5 earlier this year and was informed there was an issue with a plug that may have been lost or damaged. I was asked to wait for a replacement, though the details shared with me at the time felt vague and uncertain. Unfortunately, during a recent service with my previous mechanic, I learned that a temporary plug had been used for my oil change which would have happened at Take 5--and that the threads in my oil pan were stripped during the prior oil change at that location. This led to me having to replace the entire oil pan, which cost over $1,000. The team at the shop was genuinely kind, and I appreciate the respectful way they treated me. That said, I'm concerned that either the training they've received is lacking or certain steps are being skipped in their process. The process is too rushed, and it is a concern. They offered me 50% off my next oil change and now I see why. I don't take leaving a negative review lightly, but this experience has been financially frustrating especially with my car being fairly new. I've reached out to customer service, and unfortunately haven't heard back. Because of this, I've decided I won't be returning at this time--but I sincerely hope the company takes steps to improve service quality moving forward. Update: I finally received a response from the shop. They claimed the warranty is no longer valid because I "waited too long" to report the issue. However, I reached out immediately--on the same day I was notified of the problem. The delay, they say, was due to me contacting the corporate email instead of the Kernersville location directly. For context: I specifically asked corporate for the franchise's email, and they declined to provide it. Corporate stated that they forwarded my message that I sent on Friday, July 25, 2025 ( when the issue was brought to my attention) to the franchise on Jul 28, 2025. The shop is responding August 13, 2025 after multiple follow-ups. They also stated over the phone that they don't remove the plug during an oil change--which left me wondering why I was asked to wait while they looked for a replacement? Also, why did you charge me for the replacement? And the receipt clearly shows the plug was replaced. They also said to look at the warranty details on the back and the back page is blank. They've now launched an investigation to look into what happened. I'll share more details as they become available. Update - September 1, 2025: It has now been over two weeks since I was told an investigation was underway, yet I've received no follow-up or communication. At this point, I'm left to assume that no action will be taken and that the matter is being quietly dismissed. Should I receive any updates, I'll revise this review. In the meantime, I recommend exercising caution if you choose to bring your vehicle to this shop. Also if they mention needing to replace a plug, be sure to ask what happened to the original--clarity upfront can save you trouble later. Also, feel free to mention that a temporary plug can damage your oil pan and see if they offer you a more appropriate solution especially since, well, they lost or damaged it and you noticed immediately. read more

Justin alone gets a five star raising. He was kind, funny and entertaining. Definitely someone who felt trustworthy. He explained everything that was going on with my car and attempted to upgrade a few things which I respectfully declined. He wasn't pushy or annoying. Lol The only other thing that I would want people to know outside of what a great employee Justin was is that the price is a little steep. It was really cool to not get out of the car, to have a handsome fella who was friendly and knowledgeable change the oil in my vehicle in record time but the garage seems to have too few options in the low price arena. If I was rich and could afford anything I wanted, I would 100% come here every 4,000 miles. But sadly the service was almost double what I was used to paying. Sorry Justin - You were awesome! I'm a disabled Veteran and I went in for a quick oil change. We waited for over 45 minutes to enter the bay. Then another 20 minutes waiting for them to get to us. I noticed the technician sell a lady in the car in front of us for a air filter when hers was still good. Right before I got mad and frustrated, an additional technician came from the back then smoked a cigarette right in front of my car. Thats when I said enough is enough. And I got out to close my hood, one guy said we are gonna start on you now boss. I told them no thanks and we left. Do Not Go Here they are very slow, lazy, and unprofessional. I went to Take 5 and had to wait 40 mins on one car in front of me getting their oil changed. I left before my turn because I didn't want to wait any longer. I have been there before and it was great service but this time was just too long of a wait that was uncalled for. No one even bothered to tell me how much longer I had to wait. Went back to this location as it's the most convenient and I figured I would give them another shot. This time with my ram 2500 and my ram 1500 went weeks apart. Waited over a hour and a half each time I went. And the price had increased by $10. Still a good value though......this isn't a big deal to some but when your setting with windows down in a cold garage for 1-2 hours that you didn't plan/dress for its aggravating and I'm finding another oil change company.....got a good customer base and got big then just gave up read more

Said my antifreeze was bad and unsafe because it was red and needed to be green, so I had them replace it, but ended up figuring out from the dealership that the red I had was normal and was actually a much higher quality brand than the green kind they put in my car. I have always had a good experience at this take 5 location until today. I am so disappointed in how the staff treated us and tried to scam us. They explained that the higher quality oil was what was best for the car but we made it clear we did not want that and wanted the generic oil (bc we live on a budget like the rest of America) well when it came time to pay they said "ok boss so what we did is go with the synthetic oil bc it's what's best for the car" WITHOUT letting us know they're using the $30 higher oil. Manager ended up resolving it - barely. I was unable to use my healthcare workers discount bc of them absolutely going against what we requested and trying to scam us. I unfortunately will not be returning and am sad for other customers who may think they have to pay that when they can barely afford milk and eggs these days. read more

Came here because the only bad reviews were about employee attitudes or meaningless stuff in terms of my car. However after getting just a simple oil change, I left with more problems than I came with. Ever since coming, my AC blower has been making a rattling noise. Finally found it and fixed it myself, but it was leaves that the girl who checked my air filter dropped into the fan blower bc she flipped the filter the wrong way when putting it back in. I also was just there for an oil change and never asked for any of my filters to be looked at. Also, I'm 95% sure they stripped the threads off my bolts holding on my skid plate - and also pretty sure they dropped my skid plate on concrete which made a large BAAAANG while working on it. Stressful time consuming and not worth the price. I've been worried about my cars health ever since stepping foot in this place. I honestly don't know why this place has bad reviews. Yes it's pricey but it's fast and great service, worth it to me. They keep you informed the entire time on everything they are doing. They are friendly and very professional. I never wrote a review for this place but had to remember to leave one today because today was by far the best experience yet. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE-TAKE 5!!! I PAID $57.00 for a basic oil change, with ONE additional quart of oil. Very shady work!! Did not top off my washer fluid (included in the price charged). Did not clean my windshield, which stated on the receipt that it WAS CLEANED. Charged me double the price quoted, did not take the coupon presented (stated that it was not for my vehicle, which is NOT listed on the coupon). The two young men that changed my oil explained everything they did as far as changing the oil filter to how many quarts of oil they replaced in my car. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes, and the quality of their service was nothing short of perfection. 3 technicians jumped on my car at the same time, and they all communicated with each other efficiently like something you would see in the kitchen of a 4 star restaurant.
