Went to the Mauldin, SC location the day after we got power back from Hurricane Helene to get my oil topped off & air in 2 tires. I knew there was a problem when I just sat there with the employees pointing my way, not bothering with air or oil. Whoever the "manager" was then proceeded to tell me that I was over the 3000 mile cutoff for that "service" and said I had to buy a new oil change in order to be helped. REALLY? In the midst of all this BS you have to profiteer too? Well for the price you pay for 2 quarts of bulk oil of 5w - 20 and the cost of electricity to power your compressor HE just lost my work truck, my wife's car, my personal vehicle, & anyone I can tell to go to another business. read more

In the midst of hurricane Helene at the Mauldin Take 5 location I went there because I was a LOYAL customer for 2 years with all our family cars. However, after the last experience, NEVER again. I stopped by when they had power & were up running for business. My work truck was between oil changes with them & I needed a top off for my oil and air in 2 tires. The Cliff Note business school graduate (I am assuming he graduated) told me I was over the cutoff of 3000miles for "Top Off" service offered between oil changes and I had to pay for a new 5000 mile oil change. And I do not abuse that... "service" only used 1 time before by my wife. So for the cost of some air, 2 quarts of 5w-20 to top me off he lost my business. The Pit tech stripped my oil plug then replaced it and now my vehicle is leaking oil with all types of low performance lights and engine lights flashing and I can't get any Manager to contact me back in reference to my situation.. Very disappointing experience at this location. Normally, I absolutely love Take 5 and use them exclusively. This location was a let down in every way. To start, the young girl at the computer had no idea what she was doing. I told her repeatedly that I already had an account with Take 5 but she couldn't find it, and even after spelling everything for her she still got my name and address incorrect. I came for an oil change and new wipers. When they went to change the wipers, the one technician was fine, but the girl was helping and she tossed the metal screwdriver she was using onto my car for the other guy to grab. They marked that they had replaced my wiper fluid and cleaned my windshield but neither were done, which is even more disappointing seeing as I bought wipers. Normally Take 5 is a 5 star experience, even giving you a water bottle while you wait. This experience was utterly disappointing and not at all worth the price. They also falsely marked that they checked my tire pressure when no one bothered to touch a single tire, and neglected to reset my check engine message. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. To put it simply I paid for the 10,000 miles synthetic oil. I don't know what I got instead but I do know that my car completely ran out of oil before even 3000 miles if that. My receipt showed up paid 14,000 old change but the sticker in the window was completely different from what the receipt said. And obviously the oil wasn't synthetic because my car engine was destroyed. I had no leaks. The only thing the guy at the place who changed my oil was worried about was getting a tip. yes my husband took our 2006 bmw on saturday 7/20/24 to have the oil change . took it back because we were having an issue and wanted to speak with manger and to have a refund. we had paper work and young man robert who was 1 of the guys that worked on our car was there and said that he remember my husband. well in the mist of trying to get this resolved. the manger steven up and left and he was the only 1 that could give us the refund. they tried to call him back and he would not come back. said that he had to look and the video tape, makes no sense to me as to why when we have paper work and the tech said that he remember. but said that we could come back tomorrow morning that he would be there, well we went back and no steven... they called him and this sorry manger said that he would not be in at all and for us to come back tomorrow or wait on a call. bs..bs.. the staff has said that he is known for this type of thing that if there is an issue that he puts it off on someone else to handle it. and that he is never there always leaving. manger steven needs to be bumped down from a manger position because he does not care about the issues that his customers may have nor his staff. sorry excuse of an manger. where we were mad about the mistaked that happen .. we are more pissed off at the sorriness of this manger steven not doing his job. read more

the folks at take 5 on W. Butler rd are very helpful and finish the job real fast as always. BUT, I found out yesterday that their corporate changed the mileage and time between oil change intervals from 6k miles/6 mnths for full synthetic oil, to just 3k miles/3 months, even though I paid full synthetic oil price 0f $83 (with $10 coupon). So, either they change the type of synthetic oil they use, or they are trying to get you back in to change the oil more often than necessary so they make more money. When questioned, the manager said I can drive the car longer (as long as I want) between oil changes despite the sticker they provided. I believe if any issues arise due to oil if I do not change it on the 'recommended' schedule Take 5 will not stand by their work. For myself I will look for another company for my next oil change on my 2 cars. read more

Over 100k miles on a Saturn Vue, never any issue. An oil change, turned into car being towed in and nearly $500 in damage. Today I took my truck for an oil change. After the oil change as I was driving it the oil gauge went crazy and it broke down on the side of the road. They had put to much oil in it. After hiring a tow truck to tow it back to the shop they said it was not their fault any they were not going to do anything about it. The workers were rude and condescending. I have been taking my Tundra here for several changes and these guys do it right. They never try to upsell anything and make sure that you understand what is going on with the vehicle. I have over 240,000 miles on my truck and will be taking it to AJ, Kevin, and Nick in Mauldin until the wheels fall off. It started when I had to move out of the lane I had been sitting in for ten minutes to allow a lady in another lane to move in front of me as her lane was still busy. Never had that before. Finally pulled inside to no greeting, but an employee complaining loudly to a co worker about not getting a break. The manager came by and told him to stop as there were customers in the shop and he didn't need to be complaining like that. Soon as she left, he started again. Finally came to my window and with no greeting, just name, address, etc. Very unfriendly and very upset. The manager walked by and I told her I didn't want him doing my car since he was so upset. She put him on break and another employee started on my car. Tried to upsell the oil change. No thanks. Claimed on the receipt they checked all my tires and added air. Nope, no one touched my tires. From start to finish the entire process was probably the most unprofessional experience I've had. First time I've ever gone here and also the last. Total cost came to about $120 and I didn't get what I paid for. I was charged an extra fee cuz my car takes 7 qrts of oil come to find out a week later I'm having my car looked at and they told me it's missing a whole quart and a half. I've never had this problem anywhere I've ever gone for an oil change. The kids working there looked like they were no more than 18 and the boss was nowhere to be found.
