Robert has a very rare gift of intuition for his craft. I had been seeing him for a little while for pretty severe shin splints among other things, and he was extremely effective at patiently but effectively getting to the source of the problem and working to remedy it. He's excellent about tackling complicated problems involving referred pain and systemic trouble. That said, he's also forthright when something is beyond his help or if a client would be better served by physical therapy or some other methodology -- his focus is on healing, not squeezing you for money. A long overdue review for what I consider to be some of the best money I spend on myself... I've been seeing Robert for about a year and a half to help with sports recovery for powerlifting and running, general office worker back and shoulder tension, and acute issues as they pop up. It's gotten to the point where I feel like I can walk into his office, give him very little information on what's been bothering me, and leave feeling leagues better... his intuition is excellent as is his ability to get to the root cause of your problem (which oftentimes is nowhere near the pain). He balances strength with patience and restraint to reach trouble spots without having your fascia seize up defensively. A particularly memorable visit started with me hobbling in barely able to walk due to IT band syndrome and walking out with no pain at all. Robert is a true healer. Before getting introduced to him I was unfamiliar with myofascial release as a style of massage, but it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. If you are looking for a massage that will relax you while it's happening without fixing anything, or a massage that will leave you feeling like you've been pounded with a meat tenderizer but with the same problems, see someone else. Highly recommend trying Robert as a massage therapist. I go to him regularly due to chronic muscle tension. I've tried several different MT's over the years and Robert really stands out from the pack: 1) He's been the most effective among all of them 2) He's the only one that took on the challenges of working in difficult areas that have a lot of nerves and blood vessels, like hip flexors-- this is where one of my biggest problems was and no one else dared to get into it. 3) If Robert isn't sure how to approach something, he'll do his homework and figure it out. He was the only MT that went beyond the session to help me by emailing me questions and looking things up that helped him find an effective approach.
