Best barbershop in Portland, Hands Down! Been going to Kenzy for YEARS and she never misses. The shop is so welcoming, you feel at home the minute you walk in. Couldn't recommend this shop more! I would give it 10 stars if I could! read more

Emma did my haircut today and she was amazing. Did an excellent, no, amazing haircut that fit exactly what I was looking for! She's great to talk to, personable and just a cool person. I really like the vibe of the salon too, very alternative and cool. They offer snacks and drinks too, which is awesome. But shout out to Emma for doing an awesome haircut and earning a client! Definitely my new go-to place. read more

My barber went out of business during covid so I got a recommendation to see Fiona at Take Pride. I had a great experience! I gave Fiona the freedom to interpret a few photos of what I was thinking and I was very impressed! Not only was my hair cut and styled with care and precision, they had excellent customer service skills and I enjoyed the conversation a lot. I intend to be a regular here! read more

Nothing beats a good haircut. I tell that to my barber Kenzy every time she cuts my hair. Before I met Kenzy, I've tried many barbers throughout Portland and could never find the one that cut my hair in the exact way that I wanted it done. That was until I met Kenzy. Kenzy started cutting my hair at another location before she opened her own shop. Watching her grow Take Pride into what I believe is not only the best barbershop in Portland, but one of the best barbershops in the country, has has been an absolute pleasure to experience. Kudos to Kenzy and her team for taking pride in their craft and giving me an over the top experience every time I see her! Nothing beats a good haircut. Thanks Kenzy, you rock!!! read more

I've been going to Take Pride for a year now because I absolutely love this place. It's super queer friendly and the quality of the cuts are always a step above the rest. I've been to Kenzy, Sant and Mychal, but every barber here seems super skilled and want you to leave looking fresh to death (and happy!) I've had trouble finding barbershops that weren't oozing with toxic masculinity and icky vibes, Take Pride Barbershop is a total gem. And I'm grateful to have found it. I'll def be bringing my son, when he gets old enough, and I recommend it to all my friends. read more

I've been going to Pride for about 6 months now and I'm thankful that I've switched shops. Super hip spot that is always running on time for me. I've only came across this shop because they've got my favorite barber in town, Alex Orr. Alex was the first barber I came across when I moved to Portland 4 years ago and I have only had to go to other barbers as a circumstance of my poor planning and when Alex didn't have anything open. Each time I've regretted it... Alex takes the time to learn and get to the know the client so each cut is just as consistent as the last. I always can count on Alex for a fresh cut and Pride is lucky to have Alex O (he/him) at the shop. read more

This is a great barber shop they helped me with my hair situation and took care of me to make sure I felt comfortable, thank you Alex. #positivegoodlife read more

After going to the same salon in Portland for the last five years, I was wanting a change. I stumbled upon this neighborhood spot and have been impressed ever since. I am a "hairie" (the foodie equivalent of a hair fan) and take things seriously. Shawna definitely knows what she is doing and pays good attention to detail and ensures you leave happy. It feels like a good mixture of cool spa, salon, and barbershop and a good flavor of Portland at the same time. Definitely book a week in advance because this place has a FOLLOWING. read more

I recently enjoyed my first visit to Take Pride Barbershop and it was awesome. I'm a barber loyalist, and my skilled and friendly barber, Pearl, has been cutting my hair for over two years and I'm excited she's landed at such a great shop. The space has a cool design aesthetic with fun and meaningful signs and posters that never stop drawing your eye. Couches and a drink cooler make for a comfortable and friendly place to enjoy a cut. I also appreciate their responsible COVID safety practices that make a hands-on service feel as relaxed as can be. Check it out and ask for Pearl! She'll take great care of you. read more

I have quite short, very fine hair, and a weird cowlick in the back (don't we all lol). I hate having to find a new stylist. When we moved to Portland, I tried a fancy salon. The first cut was acceptable. The second cut was a disaster. My husband recommended I try his barber out. Kenzy had actually been recommended to us by my husband's barber in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I figured it couldn't hurt to try. I now see Kenzy regularly and am very happy with my cuts. She listens to my ideas and gently steers me in the direction I actually need to go with my specific hair type, which I appreciate. The cuts are great, the straight edge razor finish at the end is delightful, and I always leave satisfied. As an epidemiologist, I've also been extremely impressed with how Kenzy has run her barbershop during the pandemic. The shop is always clean, inviting, friendly, and run well. I don't need to contact Kenzy very often but she has always been quick to respond, which I appreciate. Also, there is something really relaxing about getting your hair cut while Bob Ross is painting on the tv, even if there is rock music playing. The overall vibe at the shop is just awesome! read more

What I like most about this shop is the good vibrations and sense of community. Coming to Take Pride is like taking a trip to see old friends, you share a few laughs, vibe on some good tunes, and tell a few tall tales. I always leave with a flawless cut and a fresh beard trim. For you fellas with beards, you know how hard it is to get a fresh beard lineup and fade. Kenzy and her crew are true artists. Kenzy even did my hair and beard for my wedding, and every time I look at those photos I thank my lucky stars I'm wearing such a tight fade. Bonus for complementary snacks and drinks! read more

Love this shop! I've had the pleasure of getting my haircut here now for a couple years. Mychal has been cutting my hair long or short. Always a great experience. read more

Mychal is an expert barber with the versatility to deliver what you ask for, but also work with you to develop a style that works for your lifestyle and offers suggestions you may have never thought of. He is very outgoing and time spent in the chair is never a dull moment. I was working with another barber at his previous shop and ultimately made the switch after seeing Mychal's work. When he left that barber shop and switched over to Take Pride, it was an easy choice to follow him and bring my business to Take Pride. The whole team at Take Pride Barbershop is welcoming and talented, and as a customer that comes in every 2 weeks, you see a lot of the same return clients which tells me there's a lot of satisfied customers. I would recommend Mychal and this shop to anyone that would listen. read more

Blake is the absolute man!! Whether you need a clean fade or a gorgeous mullet or anything in between he's your guy. Or if you're bald and need a beard shave to go along with some good conversation stop in amd go to Blake. He's never let me down in 6+ years of cuts. read more

1. I paid $43 for an awkward cut by Blake. We agreed 1/4" off all over, same style. 2. Blake ended up cutting off more than 1/4" of my hair without asking me if it's alright to take off more during the service. 3. Five minutes of it was spent soaking my hair with a spray bottle and him talking to the barber nearby. Smothering his wet hands against my face. 8 minutes spent cutting my hair with shears. Not even 20 minutes of a service cut. 4. and no, I did not receive a neck shave or hot towel service. Pretty much walked in, paid a barber $43 to chop my locks and sweep it back up into the trash. 5. Blake swept and removed the hair off the ground more than my head, neck, clothes, and face. 6. I found out this place is cash only after handing over my debit card at the end while literally trying to get the heck out of there. "We only accept Venmo or cash app." They did not have an ATM and even if they do now, it's a $3+ fee. 7. The barber who worked next window over spend a good amount of time detailing and cleaning their customers hair. Blake just spent his sweeping and detailing the floor. All the more to consider going elsewhere. 8. It would have been nice to know upon booking my appointment what payment methods they accept*. 9. By the time i got home and rinsed my hair I noticed it was completely uneven. This was the worst experience for me considering it was my first time going off of the reviews others left of this place. 10. Whoever owns this place set up the wrong expectations for a good cut service. It's really a shame I wasted $43 for an extremely low tier service by Blake. Business is a scam. Update: I went to a local small salon for $20.00 they fixed my hair and took their time to ensure it was to my liking. Final result: I do not recommend the barber Blake nor this barberslop. read more

Moved from Seattle to Portland and was looking for a new place for beard trims. It's always a gamble going to a new spot however, Eileen nailed it and gave a few great recommendation for the trim. I feel that I got real lucky finding a go to spot and would recommend Take Pride to my friends for their hair and beard cuts/trims. Equipment was up to date, clean, professional and making an appointment was very easy. Thanks for the great first experience, look forward to coming back!!! read more

First time visiting and lucked out with Pearl! She seemed to sense that I'm a quiet guy and just like to relax into the sensory experience. With the pandemic going on it's nice to see this business striving while providing a safe place for clientele. The staff has great protocol when it comes to staying safe. Take Pride Barbershop - Undercut by Kenzy - Barbers Near Me - Portland, Oregon

Horrible vibe and a 3 star haircut for me... Owner must be burned out. Appointment was rescheduled by the owner from a Monday to a Thursday with no apology just an bot email, no "hello" when I arrived, forced to wait extra minutes while the owner was texting on her phone...and after 6 minutes of being ignored past my scheduled time I stood up and asked if I was on the books for a an appointment...she stared me down and said "I'll get to you when I'm ready." No small talk and in the end just an average cut. Shameful attitude to have in a shop like this. Will go elsewhere... read more

First, about my barber: I've been going to Fay for my cuts for years now and there hasn't been one time I've walked out with a cut that I didn't feel stoked about. She is the most consistent barber i've had and I will be her client for as long as I can. She is also the kindest human and the easiest to talk with and we've become friends over the years. I cannot recommend her enough. Secondly, about the shop: My first time walking into Take Pride I felt immediately comfortable because of the warm immediate welcome. I was greeted and offered a drink and the overall vibe was chill and welcoming. I feel at home there and give the overall look and feel of the spot a 10/10. They also keep yoohoo chocolate drink as an option for fucks sake! That's cool af. read more

I have been going to Fay for quite approaching almost three years and let me tell you they are amazing! Ever since the first time with them getting my haircut done I always get amazing compliments on the fade cut I get. They are an artist when it comes to hair! I am utterly amazed every time I leave their chair! As a nurse I am definitely comfortable in their COVID precautions they take while I am in the shop too! The only thing I miss is drinking a cold beer while getting my haircut but fuck COVID!!!! Anyway Fay is amazing and if you want a RAD haircut go see them!!!! read more

Super friendly and great atmosphere. Sadly that's the best part of my experience. I had a hair cut and face shave w/straitblade and cleaned up my goatee. Not trying to be rude but it's the worst shave I've ever had! Lots of missed hairs on my cheeks and around my goatee. Worst part is the bottom edge under my chin is WAYYYY crooked. I did better m'y very first time deciding to rock a goatee having zero experience managing facial hair. Now I have to raise the line up to make it even. Worse than when I do it and no where close to the crisp shave you would expect. Side fade is great too is sloppy. Awkward moment mid way through my service another worker started taking pictures for social media. I know I could say no but I assumed by what I was being told it was going to turn out great. I wasted a LOT of money on a bad service. I'm going to assume it's just my specific barber because the reviews here are great and the pictures look awesome on their site. Red flag should have been when I asked for a pattern in my skin fade and he said he doesn't do those because they don't turn out good. Clearly the showcase photos on the site are from other stylists. Goatee was so bad it wasnt worth asking to do anything else and risk it getting botched any further. read more
