We met for a consultation on Tuesday, received a detailed quote early Wednesday, and after deciding to move forward, Paul came out Thursday to complete the templating. First of all, some of these reviews are NOT for this company. Paul Janedis is the "hands on" owner of Take Us For Granite. Don't confuse his company with Take Us 4 Granite and other similar names. He's getting a bad rap here from some people who haven't even used him! He has done granite countertops for two homes for me so far. Both times his work has been impeccable and his demolishing of the old countertops was done carefully with little dust. Paul Janedis' business does the fabrication as well as the measuring and installation of the countertops and he pays great attention to detail. Paul has granite selections for every budget and the job is done quickly and with precision. Avoid....poor craftsmanship and no customer service skills

We needed to match existing granite in our home. At first, Paul was great! He was helping us look for the granite, even came over to measure the countertop space where we were going to install the granite. Then... he disappeared. Never called or texted us back.. just vanished out of thin air. We had company coming from out of town and no granite or response from him... As you can imagine, we were upset and would never recommend him to someone else. This is not the way to do business. read more

I love YELP because it can let consumers report rude behavior. I called today to see if this company carried a certain Granite, which they did. I live in N. California and was willing to place an order, and pay for shipping. The person who answered was rude and abrupt. The first question they asked was "who is this and what do you want?" before I had a chance to inquire. Next, when I inquired about the Granite, which they carried, he said "how are going to get it to you?" (read annoyed tone). I said, " I guess you don't want to help me". Paul was very responsive and very competitive! Don't be dissuaded by his unresponsiveness as he is ALWAYS working and doing an installation. He installed Cesarstone in our kitchen and did a great job, only 4 days from template to completing the install. The first time he came out to measure and do the template, he saw an issue with our apron sink and jumped right on and fixed the issue that same day, no screwing around, no games. never again will I use this company they called me the night before they were scheduled to come and install counter tops and thought I was going to be able to have a plumber come out out on less than 24 hours notice, no way possible! so they come out the next day to do a countertop install in 3 rooms 2 bathrooms and a kitchen and they CUT MY PIPES! so here it is 3 weeks later and I'm having plumbing issues to do this company cutting my pipes, not to mention they install countertops and sinks but do not tell you they do not buy or purchase any of the FAUCETS which is MANDATORY FOR ALL NEW SINKS this is a horrible company, they also left dirt under every single counter, I would not pay this company 5 cents for anything sad thing is I was about to get an out door kitchen from them but with the way they set up my bathroom and kitchen I WILL NEVER use their Services again then try to charge me to SEAL THE COUNTER TOPS company is a rip off and I'll be filing a complaint with the BBB AS WELL because I have pictures of all my cut pipes and no one has reimbursed me a dime!!! over $2,000 later and I'm still paying for issues!!! read more

Do not buy your granite from him! I was looking for Virginia Mist and he lied to me and said it went by Black Mist too. After installation I told him it did not match our existing Virginia Mist island like I originally requested and he told me Virginia Mist was a "discontinued color" and Black Mist was the best match. Funny he never mentioned that before he sold me the slab. Not only was he deceptive about the granite he sold me, his phone now goes straight to voicemail and he doesn't respond to text. We purchased an IKEA kitchen and Take Us for Granite are their countertop installers, so we did not choose them based on any reviews or pre-conceived notions and I was a little apprehensive at first however so glad they were the manufacturers and installers. Paul was awesome to deal with. Due to a water leak, we were out of a kitchen for almost 3 months and so towards the end we were simply tired and anxious to get done. We called Paul everyday and sometimes twice a day to get this done and scheduled and rescheduled (due to our cabinet install not being complete) - poor guy - I am sure he felt nagged, but he took it in stride and was able to deliver on time as promised. In our rush to get done - we asked Paul to come in to measure on the same day the cabinets were being completed. That was a mistake on our part since although the cabinets were installed, the installers had to come in again and make some adjustments and move a pantry a few inches for door clearance. Meanwhile Paul had already taken his measurements so again multiple calls from us with pictures and measurements for Paul to adjust. To our surprise and delight, he got it right the first time. The installers came in on time as promised and did a perfect install. When they brought in the countertops, the bar area countertop sink was not in the correct place due to a misunderstanding, so they took it back and Paul came back the next day to install it himself. WOW - did not expect it that fast and again, a perfect install. This was our second IKEA kitchen and in our previous home, some other company did the countertop install and although nice, was not as clean and seamless as Paul and his team did it. Paul minimized the number of cuts needed so not many seams which after a while can show through if not done correctly. The countertops look fantastic! To Paul - apologies for all the calls and hassles - excellent work and highly recommended. Thank you. I am perplexed. Vendors know about Yelp. Why they would do anything to get a poor review when they don't have do is beyond me. Unfortunately I can't review the work they do because I never got a chance. Paul contacted me to set up an appointment which we did for between 8:30 to 9:30 on Saturday morning. I waited and waited and he was a no show. I finally texted him at about 10:20 and said he never kept the appointment so I was moving on. He never called, never texted, never apologized. I can understand an emergency of some kind and I try to make allowances for it. But to not even get an apology or an excuse is not acceptable. If this is the way initial appointments are handled I could never trust that the work would be completed competently or or time. I hope others have more success but be forewarned. read more

I was stressed because the holidays are coming, and I was afraid there would be a delay. I don't know how he did it, but he's a magician. Never do business with Paul! He will screw up your counter-top fabrication, won't fix it and then he'll sue you! Paul and TakeUsForGranite did MOST of our counter-top job properly but screwed up one thing that was VERY important to us, the distance between the front of the counter and the sink. Our sink is a fairly large and deep Blanco model so we wanted that distance to be 3" and were VERY clear to Paul about this. When the installers finished we noticed that the setback was 5" instead of 3". We immediately called Paul, told him the problem. He came out to look at it (and fix one other polishing problem) and then started making excuses. He said that Caesarstone (from which our counters are made) had a minimum requirement of 5" between edge of counter and sink opening. As Paul never told us this when we gave him the original instructions, we called Caesarstone ourselves. They said the minimum was 2.5", so Paul was lying. After we caught him in his lie and told him so, he stopped returning our calls. We were in limbo for 2 months trying to get a hold of Paul and get some type of resolution. Then we got a notice from LA Superior Court that HE was suing US for completion of payment. So when our court date rolled around we showed up with ample proof that he did not do what we asked him to do, and were very eager to have our case heard. But with his typical lack of follow through, Paul didn't even show up! You would have to be a fool to hire this guy. read more

I had Paul at my house he did a small vanity top in the guest bathroom. It was great so we hired him to do our 2 other bathrooms and got an estimate for our kitchen. One bathroom was fine, the other the granite didn't look anything like the sample, it had some filled spots with some kind of resin and it was terrible. I asked him to re-do it, he did - it was just as bad. With in a week the sink edge started crumbling apart. I called him several times to look at it and remedy the problem. He NEVER showed up. I was also charged extra for this piece of granite because it was supposedly higher end. Needless to say we did not give him our kitchen to do. AVOID this company at all cost. read more

I think some of these reviews must have been fabricated. I have used many contractors in my life but this experience was the worst. The installation by Paul was so bad the counter actually sloped up at the end. Of course he claimed the counters were at fault and uneven which was true but I didn't know that was the case before he glued them down and tried to hurry me to get payment. Even worse time trying to get him to take it off while I had someone else level the cabinets and then restore it on something actually level. Paul is very argumentative. I hired Paul Janedis for a kitchen in an upper scale neighborhood and it was perfect. No complains at all. I then hired him for a condo in a lesser scale neighborhood. It was a complete 180. The seem between the slabs and the 1/4"gaps on each side of the stove were not acceptable to the owners. When he came out he told me that it was the nicest thing on the entire condo and that it was a "f%ing sh%thole!" He than said he would come back yet again with his installers to fix it. I have been trying to call him but like the other person stated he just vanished leaving me to deal with the irate customers. They are currently waiting for him to fix the countertop and of he doesn't they will contact consumers affairs. He really left me a rough spot especially because he needed the check before the job was completed the day of the install. He split as soon as I wrote the check out. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PAUL AT TAKE US FOR GRANITE AT ALL! read more
